The entire process, from estimate to build to installation, was excellent. The finished product is a high quality window that matches the other original windows in this 1930s home. Appreciate his education on how I could restore and protect the home's other windows.

Martin is a craftsman. He understands double hung windows and loves the engineering and style. When he came to do the bid, he was very honest about what could and could not be done to restore my windows and all of what he said turned out to be exactly how he works and how it all worked out. He gives you a detailed bid by window and gives an assurance that the customer is not charged if it takes him longer than he thought. That happened with one of my windows, and he did not charge extra for the surprise (rot) that he found within. He wasn't cheap, but he was worth every penny. Martin will give an estimate for the whole job but is willing to do the work in installments if that is your preference. We are very happy to have restored double hung windows that retain the original style of our house. His waiting list is very, very long. I waited six months between when I got on his list and the work being done. It was worth the wait. I was particularly impressed by how well he knew the rules about lead paint abatement and how seriously he took the issue. He was very clean in general and never left any materials or even halfway completed work when he left for the day. He takes the sashes out of the window frame and does much of the work in his truck. He would work on 1-2 windows per day, depending on what he could get done in a day. He fixed everything that was wrong with the windows and restored them to as close to original or good condition as he could. I got exactly what he said he could do and am very pleased with the end result. He does not do any painting. As he told me would be the case, there is some touch-up work to do on every window.
Description of Work: He restored 11 double hung windows. All of them had their top sash painted shut, many had broken ropes, several had broken glass, and a few didn't open at all. Martin fixed it all.

Martin did three separate jobs for us & they all went great. It is extremely difficult to find true craftsmen these days. All of my windows function as they were meant to. Both sashes move up and down, all of the ropes and weights are in working order and they look beautiful. Now if I could only find a contractor as meticulous to finish my basement.
Description of Work: Martin restored all of our double-hung windows in our 1932 home. He also repaired a severely damaged sill and handled the leaded glass restoration on our attic window, making certain that the window was identical to the others. He replaced several broken glass pieces with old wavy glass per my request. We were on the wait list for 1 year to have him do the work and Martin was defiantly worth the wait. He is a true craftsman and did a beautiful job. He was always on time and was very fair with pricing. Careful measures were taken to quarantine the work areas due to lead handing practice guidelines. He was a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him to anyone needing double-hung restoration.

Double-Hung is a one man show and he was excellent. The price was a bit high. He did come when he said he would.
Description of Work: Double-Hung opened up the window trim and rehung the weights in our double-hung windows so that we could open them up again. He did a bunch of windows and had to re-mill a bunch of wood.

MARTIN, AND HIS CREW DID EXCELLENT WORK. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR PART OF ONE WINDOW THAT MARTIN ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRING, EVEN THOUGH HE THOUGHT IT WAS NOT CLEAR THAT ONE OF HIS GUYS HAD CAUSED THE DAMAGE.
Description of Work: WE HAVE AN OLDER HOME WITH DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS THAT WERE NOT OPENING, AND CLOSING PROPERLY BECAUSE THE TOP SASHES WERE PAINTED SHUT, OR THE ROPES WERE BROKEN. MARTIN RESTORED THE WINDOWS SO THAT THEY OPEN, AND CLOSE PROPERLY. WORK WAS DONE ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THREE WINDOWS EACH TIME. PRICE SHOWN IS FOR TOTAL OF BOTH JOBS.
