Seattle Interior Designer Dorian Muncey is a Pacific Northwest native whose inspiring interior design work has been featured across the country in New York, Pennsylvania, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Aspen, Sun Valley and Hawaii.
While many designers develop a particular signature style in the hopes of attracting clients, Dorian prefers a collaborative approach, in which each client's individual personality, taste, and functional requirements are used to create unique living environments.
Muncey began his interior design career with renown Northwest interior designer Marjorie Siegel. Dorian spent seven wonderful years as Marjorie's apprentice and although she has passed away, continues to influence Dorian's work and life.
Muncey received his undergraduate degree in Interior Design from the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. In addition to his interior design degree, Dorian minored in Performance Design and taught residential design at the college for three years.
Muncey went on to receive his Master's degree in Interior Design from Seattle's University of Washington. Dorian's interest in lighting and performance is evident in his chosen thesis: "Introducing Performance Lighting Into Residential Application". His extraordinary ability to use illumination as a powerful design element is reflected in his projects on the portfolio page.
DGMI missed the promised delivery deadline for the master bedroom floor plan without explanation, and asked for 2 additional days. I was not pleased about it because he befriended me on facebook so I could see him spending time posting and making comments on facebook within the time span he said my sketch was scheduled for. And since my architect already redid the master bedroom and I was happy with it, I saw no point of paying 2 different resources for the same thing, I asked DGMI not to work on master bedroom floor plan but to focus on finish design as he was hired to do. DGMI agreed but next day sent over a draft of design of entire upper floor - redesigning floor plan of entire 2nd floor was never part of the scope. I was not happy about it, and once again asked him to just focus on interior finish design, which he replied to say ok. My instinct somehow sensed something uneasy, so I adjusted the Bill Pay to move out the advance payment date and informed DGMI about it. 3 days later, he emailed to say that he hadn't received the advance payment and wanted to know why. Seeing how DGMI was less interested in providing good customer service and more interested on getting pre-payment, I decided not to work with him, and offered to pay total of $300 for exchanging various email messages up to that point - some billable, most of emails were not billable. I called the bank to place stop-payment on the $500 payment as it was already in processing state and I couldn't make any change online, and issued new payments total to $300. DGMI was offended by my decision, and here are some of the messages from DGMI after being dismissed... From DGMI dated 9/19/2014 with insults, name-calling, threat of court action I am not threating you of court action for I promising that I will take you to court. You can respond by paying your agreed to bill in a transfer. You clearly are working a con. Make a payment as promised. Yes, I am aware that you took Kurt?s contractor to court. Now, after working with you one has to question whether that was legit or were you again trying to get something for nothing. One, you know very little about design and two, your honesty is at stake. This is a very small community. Your reputation IS at stake. Actually, you have already blown that up too. There is NO reason for you to respond further, do not waist more time, for you have already wasted too much, simply pay your commitments to your bills. Your emails will not be read, only my bank statement will be and a transfer should be read there by the end of today?s business day. Otherwise I have no interest in reading your blather. DGM Follow up message from DGMI dated 9/19/2014 when we didn't wire the money he demanded, again name-calling, threatening, etc. Dear Gary and May May you also say that you represent Gary, I am going to assume that he is taking your positon as your partner in this matter. May, you and on Gary?s behalf did not make a transfer to my account of $ 500.00 today at the end of business. Your partnership is again misrepresented anything and all that you have said to be true on this project. One can only also assume, that you are both con-artists. You both have three days to correct this matter. Transfer the funds by the end of business, 5:00 PST Monday the 22nd. the autumnal equinox. Otherwise additional hourly costs will be assessed, court costs will be incurred and you will have again wasted everyone?s time. It is just like as you did by suing Kirk?s plumber, you shirked him, although you won. Your reputation will continue to follow. That is some pretty bad karma that you are putting out there. So, let me ask you; what are you willing to pay to support your lies? Regards, DGM From DGMI dated 9/26/2014 upon receiving my email with excel mapping of our email exchanges and billability May, I am not a psychologist or do I play one, however IMHO, you?re psychotic. Your psychological projections are clearly stated in all of your emails and you continue your miss-stepping. Every item that I billed you is in regards to your project, that is emails and all other communications. Every moment spent even thinking about you is billable. More emails from you is NOT going to lower your bill. You still have not paid what you agreed to pay. You are simply dishonest. Your, ?style,? of dishonesty must have gotten you somewhere and to where you are today. Congratulations! Take your business elsewhere. Let me say that again,GO! I have provided you with what we agreed. You simply disagree about the bill. Your lies are in all of these emails as are your threats. Your bill is very past due which again illustrates, to all, that you lie. AGAIN, GO! I had thought that you were an honest player, which you prove that you are not. I will not work for you. It is too bad that your, ?team,? members are still playing with you. They should maybe reconsider. Let me also remind you that all of your documents are public. JUST GO! DGM
Description of Work: DGMI was hired to do interior finish design for my new construction, plus the master bedroom floor plan redesign. DGMI forecasted the work would be about 20 hours, and agreed to hourly rate of $80. DGMI requested for $480 in advance payment, which I agreed to and offered to make it $500 even. I set up Bill Pay for it and initiated its processing.
