Nick went over all the options of what kind of material we could use, what style would work with our house, and other ideas (such as foot lights) to make it special. Once the materials were delivered, Nick put in both entry stairs in the front (a challenging steep and long flight of stairs), and in the back of the house. He did a beautiful job, and did it in one day, staying until the job was completed even though it was 10 pm before he could complete it due to a pre-existing riser in the back that had not been properly measured by another contractor. We were thrilled with the work Nick did!
Description of Work: We used DNB, Inc. last spring to build a new staircase to our front porch, and to refinish our front porch in preparation for the sale of our house. He did such an outstanding job that we had to hire him again to build our entry stairs at our new house as well.

Nick did fabulous work! He was able to schedule the work within a week, he layed out in advance his time estimate and expected costs, and he consistently arrived promptly and cleaned up thouroughly. His craftsmanship and integrity to his work were apparent in all aspects of the projects. He was undaunted by retro-fitting an exterior window door to our existing door frame, he worked with me as I changed mind on a couple of things part-way through shelving and cabinet projects, he finished projects quickly yet solidly and then would ask "ok, what next?" enthusiastically. When I requested guidance on work outside of the scope, he patiently and thoroughly helped me understand how to do it. He is a skilled craftsman - bright, concienscious, enthusiastic, efficient, well-organized and artistic. He is the craftsman equivalent to having a good auto-mechanic that you trust.
Description of Work: Nick has helped us on three different occassions - to install an exterior window door, install shelving and cabinets, and to do some household repairs that required woodworking

The entire process could not have gone better. Nick was professional, cordial, friendly, and both listened to our concerns and gave us great suggestions for ways to conduct our project, along with cost estimates based on a variety of potential materials. He was clearly knowlegable about different types of wood vs. synthetic materials, best ways of fastening stairs to minimize water intrusion and rot, a decorative approach to our railing that matched a design on the roof gable, and gave an accurate time estimate for completion of the project. When done, we were very impressed with the work done. From our beautiful fir stairs without any nail holes or screws, to our creative new railings, to the freshly sanded and stained porch deck, we couldn't be happier. He also pre-painted all the railings, and re-touched everything once completed for a beautiful new look. My husband and I would both agree that this is the finest woodworking we've seen, and we now have a new favorite woodworker that we will always use in the future.
Description of Work: In preparation for putting our house on the market, we had the front steps to our house completely re-built, all new railings built and installed along the stairs and front porch, and our existing porch deck was completely sanded and refinished. The new railings were built to replace rotting wood that was no longer to code. Nick designed railings that incorporated a decorative accent that exists in our roof gable so as to standardize the exterior look of the house.
