DJ'S HARDWOOD FLOORS

DJ came the day after I called and was very reassuring. He completely explained what would be done and the differences between finishes. He was able to schedule us to our convenience right away. Mark showed up on time, took extreme care with our baseboards and making sure surfaces were taped off and sealed from dust. He was friendly and professional; obviously knew what he was doing. Our jaws dropped when we saw the results. It's incredibly beautiful and far exceeded our expectations!

We were very satisfied with the job. DJ is very professional. The work was done very quickly which was important to us. It had to be woven into some existing oak flooring and you cannot tell the old from the new. He came a day or two after the job was completed and fixed a few spots that were not perfect. It was a great experience.

DJ and his crew did a wonderful job. DJ is very detailed in his estimates and he came in right on budget. I would use him again in a heartbeat.

DJ was very willing to work around our schedule and was even able to start the job sooner than he had originally anticipated. I was surprised at how quickly they worked and were done on time too. They were very careful when working around our existing furnishings and taped off the counters and furniture to protect them from dust. I was expecting there to be more dust but it was minimal. We were extremely happy overall and when they finished, the floor looked brand new again! I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I am quite pleased with the overall work they performed. His estimate was much lower than others, and with the rating from Angie's List and from DJ's professionalism (I met him in person for the estimate), I felt comfortable going forward with project. I had only two minor qualms, one of which DJ fixed immediately, the second was nothing to be fixed, just a matter of aesthetic quality (which most people probobly would not even notice). I would definitely recommend to anyone that they include DJ in their list of people to contact for their flooring needs. He was on time, considerate, and true to his every word.

It looks fabulous, can't tell that the header piece is newer-it blends in almost perfectly. Work was completed on time and professionally-and mess was cleaned up.

DJ was very responsive to my email query regarding an old damaged wood floor. He came out and took a look and estimated what it would take to repair or replace the floor. But considering that this is rental, and that we are really watching our budget, he actually advised carpet rather than springing for the much higher priced wood floor. I really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. If I should ever decide to install wood floors, I would certainly go with DJs.

We were thrilled with the work Dennis did. It had been years since the floors had been refinished and while the floors themselves were pretty solid, the finish was in pretty bad shape. He restored them to a thing of beauty. More than that, his customer service was world class. We wanted the work done while we were on vacation over the Christmas holidays, but he had tentatively planned some down time for himself. Even so, he rearranged his schedule for us. Then, in one of the two meetings we had with him prior to starting the job, I had arranged to meet him at our house after work. I got stuck in traffic and was 45 minutes late for the appointment. When I finally arrived, I was was surprized to see him still there calmly doing paperwork in his truck. He quickly accepted my apology and got down to the business at hand. He was a prince and a great workman.

This company was easy to get in touch with and make appointments. There were no surprise charges and the estimate was very accurate. The workers were on top of their game and got the work done in a timely manner. The finished product is how I imagined it would be. I have no complaints about this company.

Each time we met with DJ prior to work starting he arrived on time and answered all of our many questions. Once work started the crew kept to the schedule that was laid out to us. The water damaged floors, high concentrations of dirt, a pet stain and scratches are things in the past. The floors look beautiful, with natural colors coming out to reveal the wood. The crew left the house clean with very little dust remaining.

He came on a Sunday and he was very good at answering all of my questions. They were very professional and they had very personable people that came out to my home.

Everything went well, and was done perfectly, there were no errors, no hidden costs, and no delays or mistakes. The floors look amazing.

Very well. His estimate on time was completely accurate, despite the fact that there were more problems with sub-flooring (including one area that required very detailed and difficult removal) than expected before the job was done. His pricing was accurate from the estimate. The work site was kept as clean as possible, and at the end of the job the cleanup was excellent. The floors look great!

DJ was very good to work with. He adjusted his schedule twice to accomodate mine.

DJ was very busy at the time, and we waited approximately 7 weeks for him to begin our project. Once we were scheduled, there were no changes to the start/finish dates. We ordered the new material through DJ because his price was a bit less expensive than we had found. DJ was conscientious of his work and returned for corrections without complaint or charge until we were satisfied. Things that went well: timing, completed work is well done, blending from existing to new areas not noticeable. Things that didn't go so well: 1) In the new areas, installer used a section of wood with a large blemish and 2) we were not made aware of issue for sand/re-finish of existing floor when you remove and do not replace the stain. Resolutions: 1) For the wood with a blemish, DJ was very apologetic and used a technique to a 2 foot section of the board and replace it by nailing down from the top. The nails are not noticeable, but the correction took about 3-4 visits to get the finish just right for that area. DJ came back quickly each time, but it would have been better to never had the blemished board used. 2) For the pre-existing stain: DJ did not warn us that complete removal of a pre-existing stain is difficult, especially when the desired result is an unstained floor. As such, several spots of the old stain showed up in the finished product. DJ returned to re-sand & refinish a few areas with large spots, but we still ended up with about 8 spots that are quarter to half-dollar in size where the old stain shows. The spots are near the toe kicks of the cabinets and in the bathroom so I don't notice them too much. I am certain DJ would have returned again, but I felt badly about so many repeat visits. Had we understood the challenge of complete removal, we may have chosen to re-stain or just been prepared for the result. I did not ask DJ if there were any issues with my choices. Had I asked, perhaps he would have told me about the issue with the stain ahead of time.

I called DJ and he was able to come and give me an estimate very quickly and I chose red oak and width of planks, he asked if I wanted uniform or not, I didn't, as I like the knotty look. He was pretty scheduled, so I booked him over Spring Break so we could be out of the house. I put 50% down for the cost of the wood and it was delivered about a week before so it could adjust to the house temperature. He was always very professional and I handed the keys off the Friday before we left. When we returned on Saturday night it was done, much more beautiful than I even imagined. The only thing was the smell, the windows were closed as it was cold outside, so we spent our first night in a hotel room. Was able to air out on Sunday and was fine after that. We are very happy with our floors, they have held up over the last 7 months beautifully, they still look new. Would definitely hire and highly recommend DJ.

Our bathroom floor had water damage from a leaky toilet, so decided to replace the existing floor with a new tile one. I met with DJ and Ron, who did the actual tile work, on a Friday and they started the following Monday. The work is excellent and my wife and I love the new floor. They were professional and it was a pleasure to have Ron do the flooring. The final price was higher than the original estimate, but that was because there were some previously unidentified problems that we could not see until the floor was stripped. Some patch repairs were required, and there were some delays while we coordinated with a plumber to replace the lead drain pipe and install a new closet flange. Overall I would recommend DJ's Hardwood Floors to anyone who needs work done on their floors.

DJ provided the best of 4 quotes. He was prompt and courteous in his service. His crew arrived on time and did the work very well. They even came back the next day to finish off some details. The match between the existing floor and the new floor is very good. The finishing around the transition areas (to carpet, to tile, etc) is carefully done. They stayed on the job until the work was completed to our satisfaction. They are excellent to work with and I would recommend them to others with hesitation.

We didn't go with him because his prices were higher than the company we went with. He was $1,500 more. He came out the day I called, and I was surprised.

He replied promptly to my call and we scheduled a time for him to come give an estimate. He arrived for the estimate on time, gave us a total and a break down of the costs on the spot. In addition he gave us all of our options and explain the pros/cons to them. He was able to schedule us in within our time frame (3 weeks out). He started exactly when he said he would and finished a little early.

Overall it went great! They did a great job; they were the lowest of the three bids that I got and it was of great value.

DJ came out on time and wrote up a bid on site. Unfortunately his price was 4k more (14k total) than several other highly recommended companies.

Our experience was so amazing! We were on vacation when this place got an opening to do our floors. Our neighbor has a key to our house so we had her open the house for him. She came in and checked on him, but this guy is so completely responsible! He moved everything, when he found part of the floor didn't match, he said he would do it over again. We are waiting for our infant to get older so that he can finish the job. This guy is amazing!!! "This guy is the best, the best, the best, for your money. We had DJ and company refinish 512 sq ft of soft fir floors on the second floor of our 1904 townhome. DJ's estimate was comparable to other reputable vendors, but during the initial estimate, DJ showed a lot more interest in making sure we understood the process, the risks, and the likely outcome. He completed the work on time and at right about the price he estimated. He clearly knows fir floors.

They did a great job - no one would ever be able to tell where the new wood starts and the old wood ends, either in the family room or in the kitchen. We selected a very dark stain for the floors, and had some trouble achieving the color we wanted, but DJ was great throughout the whole process. He worked very hard to make sure that we were happy with our end result, and we love it now! He and his team are very honest and hardworking, and I would definitely recommend them.
