It went terrible! They were nonresponsive and didn’t even bother to send someone out. I eventually just wrote it off as a loss.

We were happy with the work. Ryan was good to work with as far as picking out materials, making suggestions, he corrected issues while we were working with them. For example, we had picket out a certain type of faucet for the marble top, and we had ordered the wrong counter tops, and he went back and got a replacement. All that went well, and for what we had done, we were not discouraged by the work or anything. There was an issue afterwards that we had a problem with. One of our requirements in the bid was, that we needed to have some doors changed on a hallway closet. When he bid on the job, he said he would take car of that as part of his bid on the bathroom. There were 2 closets which needed the doors. We have a door that doesn't shut properly, and the grout on the tile that is opening up. We called him multiple times after the job was done, to fix the closet doors, and we sent him emails, but he never once returned the calls. Once he had the money, he wouldn't return our phone calls. He himself said he would come back and fix the closets when we were paying him, and we had to special order the doors. We had somebody else come and put the doors. The after experience left a sour taste in our mouth. Angie's List was important to him, he stated that, and that is how we found him. We noticed that his guy was cleaning his paint brushes in our bathroom sink, and we are on a well. We had to clean up the mess from our sink, so we wondered what it was doing to our well.
Description of Work: We used Diamond Kitchen & Bath LLC. They did a total remodel of my master bath. He gutted my old bathroom, and totally rearranged it,, and he enclosed our closet to make it a walk in closet. He put in a tub and a shower in the tub.

The guy came and did a drawing of our kitchen. We are interesting in moving our kitchen island. They man, who was the owner, took measurements and gave some good idea. We only wanted to do an easy remodel. It's been over a year since he visited. We're just now thinking of doing the work and will consider having him come give us a quote.

This was a disappointing experience. he delivered the drawing weeks late, after several phone calls. It was a crude, hand drawn not to scale drawing. His ideas were useless and inappropriate (moving the fridge which resulted in a doorway with a wall coming out of it). i complainded to Angie's list and my $50.00 was refunded. What a waste of time!

Overall, it went pretty well. I am happy with the end result. It did take much longer than anticipated (the crew was doing multiple jobs) - on the good side it allowed me to have the plumbing in the house re-done by their plumber sub for a very reasonable price. The tile sub did an excellent job. The electrical sub did a so so job (it failed the inspection twice...). There are a couple of minor details they could have done better (leaving drywall dust in fan, texturing without covering the light switch) - but overall they have done a good quality job.
Description of Work: Added a half bath in lower level of the house and integrated washer/dryer with new plumbing/electrical.

This was a dream remodel! Brian came to the house several times and provided several options for design. He had infinite patience with us as we came up with new things to add. He worked well with the designer we worked with, Colleen Wiley of Interior Moods. Brian was good at explaining what different options would involve and would offer his opinion on different aspects of the design where his experience would help us decide. The bid we received did not include appliances (which we bought at Metropolitan Appliance), plumbing fixtures (bought through Interior Moods at Better Bath and Kitchen) , decorative pendants, or cabinet pulls (great deal at Hardware Northwest in Georgetown). Brian's bid was significantly cheaper than the other bids we received, but the raves on Angie's List and the recommendations from his references convinced us that it was OK to take the cheapest bid. Another thing is that Brian said that he would be on the site every day to take care of matters as they arise, which he was and did. He is not just a salesman who then turns the project loose, he is on site every day working alongside his crew and checking on the quality of everything. The biggest issue started on day two after the demo had begun--a wall we wanted out couldn't be moved because of being a support wall. Brian was very accommodating in getting a change order of the cabinetry to fit in the altered space. Once that issue was resolved, the project moved on smoothly. Brian was always saying that they "would make it right" if I had a question about something that didn't look right, and he did We were impressed with his integrity and his patience. His subs were all skillful and personable and came when they were supposed to. They all also had great things to say about working with Brian. How often can you say that!! Al was Brian's regular worker on our project. He was great! One thing that came up that shows how Brian works--our cooktop hood was going to be vented up through the ceiling and then take a turn to go outside. Every way that they tried to run the vent, they encountered a support beam! Brian constructed a way to get the venting to go below the flooring with the added advantage of using the same vent hole to the outside that we had before. January 2013 update--I never finished this review because we had some issues with the flooring not being finished to our liking and I was waiting until that was done. However, I see on Angie's List that Brian ran into some problems with the Big Deal and was not able to handle all the calls and problems that this entailed. I decided to submit my review because I now know why the floor was put on the back burner. Please read Brian's response to one of his reviewers. What he said about how he wanted to run his company on integrity and good workmanship is so true. I sincerely hope that Brian overcomes the bad reviews regarding the Big Deal because what he and his company are are a bath and kitchen remodel company and they do that excellently. I was so surprised when I didn't hear from Brian, because he has always been prompt in returning calls and always caring about my concerns. I worried something had happened to him and now I know that something did--the Big Deal did him a big disservice. Please disregard the bad reviews on the Big Deal and look at the outstanding reviews of the remodeling that Brian has done. He transformed our kitchen from a tired, faded old 80s kitchen into a modern, functional space that we love and that works well. I would call Brian again and will when we want to redo the entrance and powder room.
Description of Work: Total kitchen remodel including cabinets, new undercounter lighting, additional can lights, move plumbing, remove island, new appliances including hood over gas range (gas was added). In addition, we had the floor in the adjoining family room raised to match the level in the kitchen and hardwood floor installed there to match kitchen and dining room. The floor necessitated raising the exterior door and rebuilding the little deck outside. We replaced the small garden window with a much larger one. Cabinetry is natural cherry Millenium by Canyon Creek. Granite is from Dal Tile and backsplash is from Contract Furnishing Mart in Redmond distributed by Oregon Tile and Marble. Brian started on time and finished on time and on budget (actually less than budget!!) He was honest, straightforward, accommodating and had great ideas. He met with us and the designer multiple times to refine and change the design to suit our space. He was innovative in his ideas and accommodating to our quirks and the designer's ideas.

It went well. He arrived on time and we sat and talked. He came up with novel ideas and thoughts, appropriate for the space under consideration. He came with all the tools necessary to complete the new drawing. He completed the drawing on-site. He left the drawing with us. The entire process did not take much more than an hour.
Description of Work: We reviewed our current kitchen layout and, at the end of the day, we had, in hand a complete plan drawn to scale at 1" per foot of a new kitchen plan in sufficient detail to 1. be used to purchase new cabinets and appliances and 2. to be used to get quotes for the performance of the remodeling work.

It really didn't "go" at all. Very disappointing.
Description of Work: Ordered a consultation and measurements on planned kitchen remodel in May. After several calls to ask when a representative would come to do the measurements to start the drawings, a gentleman showed up. He was here about 10 minutes, took one measurement as much as I could tell, explained that they were really busy and it could be awhile until I heard back. Well, it's almost December and I have not heard a word. I assume I should just write them off. The representative seems very disinterested. Not a way to run a business.

These guys did fantastic work, especially considering it was a very small job (repair of a leaking shower surround and shower door) in my tenant unit. I believe they normally do large remodels, but they were just as interested in showing up and doing a good job on this tiny little shower repair, which was really really impressive. I would definitely work with them again. Work was done right, on time and on budget. Highly recommended

Read above do not contact Diamond Kitchen & Bath LLC
Description of Work: This was supposed to be a service that would produce plans for a potential remodel of our kitchen, the representive came and measured the kitchen, but then failed to follow up with any plans. This was despite repeated requests for the plans. Furthermore, when we contacted Angie's list about this problem, they failed to follow up on our complaint. So I have to ask is there an Angie's List where I can review Angie's List lack or response?

I would not do business with Brian or his firm, and this experience makes me hesitant to use Big Deals since I am out $85!
Description of Work: I paid for a Big Deal offer for kitchen design. Brian came to our house on April 17. I explained what I wanted to do, he took measurements, and promised a drawing "in 2-3 weeks". With no response from him, I called and emailed many times asking when he would have time to respond, and then asking for money back. I got NO response.

We were told by the appliance people that our new replacement fridge should have no issues fitting into the opening that the old subzero fit in, even though we would have to figure out how to cover up part of the opening cosmetically because the new fridge was about 14 inches shorter than the old one. It turns out that after we got rid of the old fridge and had the new one delivered, the new one actually didn't fit into space where the old fridge was......for some reason even though the tech specs said the width of the refridgerator's were the same, the new one was about 1/4 wider! We scrambled and found several options for this odd emergency work required to get the new fridge in, and after speaking to three other "cabinet makers" listed on angies list, i was able to "walk through" our unusual situation with Brian on the phone and he felt that he would be able to accomodate the jobs' needs. Brian arrived on time the next morning , and did a great job accessing the actual situation, coming up with a plan, and executing the plan perfectly. he was very sensitive to our wishes to make sure that in altering the original opening in the wooden wall, that we keep the edges pristine and aesthetically appealing, in line with the other "build in " appliances that we had in the wall. (It is a "frank lloyd wright" style residence, so the woodwork was very specific and easily ruined.) Brian took care of the practical issues (including hooking our water hoses up in the back of the fridge), but also did a fine and careful job in terms of the niceties of construction. He cleaned up after himself, and believe me there was a lot of saw dust! All in all, Brian really came through on last-minute notice and saved the day for us. We had so many things going on that had to be completed within a three day period of our availability it was like Dominoes.....everything was completely timed out in terms of people removing appliances, delivering and setting up appliances and cleaning up the space for the next person to come in and do their job (window washing, other appliance replacements, roof cleaning, etc), so being on time and completing each task in a timely fashion was necessary.
Description of Work: our big 30 year old subzero refrigerator died, and we bought a new General Electric to replace it. of course the General electric was smaller, so we had to figure out how to fit it into a customized opening that was originally made for the subzero. Brian did a great job helping us reshape the wooden hole, so that the new fridge fit. This required carefully cutting and shaping the hole with a saw , planing it to perfection, and after the fridge was put in place (he hooked up the water hose for us) he figured out a way to re-use the various pieces of wood pieces, moulding and stainless steel parts of the older fridge casing to cleverly make the new fridge/opening relationship aesthetically appealing.

Purchased a $50 Angies list deal for the "Custom Kitchen Design with full scale drawing and measurements" back in November. I met up with Brian around christmas time to do measurements on both of my houses I was looking to remodel. He did say he was very busy with the Angies list promo and would get a estimate to us as soon as possible. Since I only purchased one promo I did tell him to use it on the house that was vacant because we needed to start that one first and get it done. I never heard from Brian till the end of January and I left a voice message telling him I had picked someone who could start working on the empty house so didn't need drawings for that home but was still interested in my home I was living in and was it be possible to use the promo and a bid. Brain emailed me stating "he certainly would draw that home and get back to me and that he did draw the empty house across the street but had such a busy month that it took far too long". Well it is now June and still haven't heard a thing or received a scale drawing for either home that I paid for as a Angies List deal. As of now I am not interested in any dealings or drawings from this company. I will write this up as experience and a $50 loss.

Brian Papnick from Diamond Kitchen and Bath came to our house at the beginning of January 2012. He arrived on time and listen to what our ideas were for our kitchen remodel. He measured our kitchen and took some notes. When he left he told us that it would take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to get our drawing to us as he said he was very busy. We did not hear from Brian and so in the middle of March we called him to ask about our drawings. Over the course of the next month we called him 3 times and left messages at his office which he never returned. At the end of April I called his office again and then his cell phone. Brian answered his cell phone and I asked him about the drawings and if they were completed. He said he would have to get back to me within 24 hours because he needed to pull up our file. He did call me back within the 24 hours and asked me to take a picture of my pantry doors because there was a comment in his notes that he did not understand. This lead me to believe that he hadn't even started working on our drawings and did not remember our kitchen layout very well. I sent him the picture he requested on May 1st 2012 and as I write this (It is May 27th) we have not heard from Brian nor received our drawings. At this time we are going to request a refund from Angie's list and we cannot in good conscious recommend this company.

He said he'd get back to me in a week or so with some rough estimates on the various options we discussed. I never heard from him again. About a month later, I sent him an email asking for the estimates and never heard back. A few weeks after that, I sent another email to him, indicating that I was shocked that I hadn't gotten a response, and that if I didn't hear from him in a week then I was going to write an unfavorable review about the experience on Angie's List. That was about a month ago, and I never heard from him. So while I'm guessing he does good work, based on many other people's reviews, I'm stumped as to how people actually got him to respond to them. I initially met with him in mid-January, and it's now late-April, so I don't think I'm being to unreasonable in expecting a simple estimate in 3.5 months!
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate from Diamond Kitchen & Bath based on the good reviews here. I have a master bathroom with a lot of loose tiles on the floor and in the shower. Brian came out and looked at it, and we discussed 2 or 3 different options, ranging from just doing some basic resetting of tile to a complete gutting and re-doing of the bathroom to incorporate some other changes I was thinking about. Nice guy, professional, and had good thoughts.

Response from DIAMOND KITCHEN & BATH LLC
(if this was posted to a non ‘big deal’ purchaser, please try to follow anyhow? The last month or two are not what you should EXPECT from us and we have made changes to correct this!) So, I made a huge mistake! I truly did. I write this response without the intention of excusing us from your report. I need you and all others that are in the likewise circumstance to understand that you are entitled to a complete refund. Heck, three of the fifteen that I did complete, returned them. If you’re the other part of the fifteen, feel free! (who would blame you in these tough times?) It’s going to come across strange to hear so much ‘I’ in a company response, ‘I’ understand! As an owner and THE decision maker of this company, this is entirely my fault! You may have heard of those companies that have failed because of offers they made on large coupon sites? I will be damned if I let that happen to thee company that I dreamed of, financed, spent 60-70 hours a week on since 2005, wake up thinking of how two different crown moldings will finish off when they meet or if we left 36 and 1/16th or 1/8th (?) inches for the fridge, and on occasion……..bleed for! It is true that most people in my shoes would hire a salesman (or saleswoman), a ‘designer’, and an ‘engineer’ (job titles only). I could! I have interviewed potential people. I always mention ‘the fine line between doing what’s right and what you were paid to do’…. They always come down on the wrong side of this! I built this company with a few old principles that everybody had forgot in 2005/6/7 (They are coming back now that times are a little tougher)…. Be the best, do things the right way, treat people the way you would hope to be treated, and NEVER be part of a remodel someone regrets! (that last part was my own theory) -Let me expand on that last thought…. I was working for a large local company in the same field that my company works in today. One day I was following ‘the book’ and telling the customer of how I HAD to do what that ‘designer’ had sold her. As she started to cry, I figured there ought to be a better way!!!! That ‘designer’ was following the ‘book’ too when she sold the project! That ‘designer’ also…. Had children to feed! Then and there, I realized; I must Author ‘The Book’ if I ever want satisfaction in my career….. Yet here I am, apologizing for making a mistake and…… I AM Sorry! Just so we are clear; I live in what would be considered a ‘lower class’ area. As the owner of this company I drive a truck, not a Lexus, I have won an award for volunteer of the year for ‘hands on’ work, I know how it feels to pull the plastic off my bed during a remodel because I make my subs and workers come to my house if they are short on hours (got to feed those kids). And, I love this company. I never intended to be the cause of your frustration! (My point?) If you really think I was after your fifty dollars, just know this; by the time I get my share, I can put air in a tire at a gas station with it. Go get your refund!! And know, I am sorry! You would see a solid track record going back to 2006 on this very site, if it went back that far. Our current projects will report the same way. We have a current project that we are in the process of wrapping up that involves a young couple and the Lady is 7-8 months along. By pure happenstance, on Monday, we are going to start a project for another one for a couple that isn’t far behind! We REALLY need to keep our projects on schedule! Your report is one that I take VERY serious! Certainly it would be easy to dismiss a report over fifty dollars when your projects range from $3,500 to $250,000. The thing is, you hired us and I failed! I am VERY sorry! We are a general contractor that is specialized in kitchen and bathroom remodels. We are not a design company but, our designs are second to none. We only design for customers that we are under contract with. It is a courtesy to them. I was a fool to offer that to the public! I thought we would sell eight, not eighty! (since cancelled) They take ten hours and cost us about $625. (Might be why companies charge $1500) We can refer you to GREAT ‘hundred dollar an hour’ designers though! (Seriously) All that said; please return that coupon to the site in which you purchased it. This promotion was a bad idea! What’s that old saying about a certain road that was paved with good intentions? Again, please understand that I apologize! I hope someday I can make it up to you!

We chose Diamond Kitchen and Bath because of Angie’s list ratings, and we couldn’t be happier. We had our kitchen gutted in January, with all new appliances in new locations and new cabinets. The project went as smoothly as a kitchen remodel can go (and we have done 4 major remodels in different houses). Brian is a problem solver, not a problem finder. He comes up with possible solutions and incorporates them. The ducting for our vent hood, for instance, didn’t fit between the joists of the kitchen, but Brian had the idea of building a soffit in the adjoining dining room to make it work. We had a snow storm during our project, where schools were closed for a week. It slowed us down a bit, but Brian still came every day and drove his contractors around. We look forward to working with Brian again, and are already making plans for our master bathroom.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel: - demolition - high end appliances (viking, bluestar, bosch) - new cabinets - new countertop - new plumbing - instahot - new sink - new lighting and rewiring - hardwood floors refinished - painting and texturing - we did our own design and bought all major appliances and parts (included in the cost above)

Hello and thank you! I must say, for the 'tough' customers you claimed to be, it went very well! I am often curious if you call yourselves 'tough customers' based on your prior remodels, could be your designer taste or is it that you want things right? I met with him to discuss my ideas and what I wanted to be done and he gave an approximate time frame for the designs. Things started off well, but I didn’t hear from him for weeks after the meeting. It’s very possible that he was in inundated with other requests that he wasn’t able to get the designs done in the time I needed them, so I ended up having to go with someone else.

Brian is a wonderful person to deal with from start to finish. His estimate was very competitive and detailed. He took me shopping to select all of the materials and fixtures and we got exactly what I wanted. We had a few problems pop up during the project and he took charge immediately and fixed everything right away. He even gave me a discount for one of the problems with the plumbing and everything worked out fine. I would use this company again and recommend them to anyone. His staff and subcontractors are friendly, tidy, hard working and very courteous. His bid was fair and he earned it with an excellent and timely job.
Description of Work: Replaced old tub, bath fixtures and tile with new soaking tub and rain shower and did complete new tile in the area.

I chose Brian Papnick of Diamond Kitchen and Bath because of his excellent grades on Angies List. I made an appointment with Brian to come out and look at my old master bathroom. I had some ideas as to what I wanted. Our main priority was to enlarge the shower and update everything else with an emphasis on tile and stone. Brian had many ideas of his own which were very helpful. The next day, Brian emailed me a bid of $28,000. His bid detailed exactly what was included in the price and what was not. Included in the price was a complete demo of existing bathroom, remove carpeted floor, remove shower walls down to the studs, install rock board on wall and floor areas, waterproofing all wet areas, install all tile, modify electrical, add new vanity and toilet and ceiling ventilation fans, new doors and trim with crown moldings, enlarge shower using frameless glass. Basically everything was included in the price except for the cost of the tile and marble and new plumbing fixtures. Brian included in his price the frameless 3/8" shower glass, the new custom vanity, mirror, and quartz slab countertop and tub surround. Brian estimated it would take 17 days to complete the project. He said he could start the job in about 5 weeks, on October 24th, 2011. We agreed to the contract and gave Brian a deposit. On 10/24, Brian showed up on time to begin the demo. He paid much attention to keeping the rest of our house clean during the remodel process. All our floor areas leading to the master bath were covered with masonite and canvas. At the end of every day, all work areas were vacuumed. Brian and his helper Alan were out every day on time for the demo. A few problems were encountered right away. First off it was discovered that my floor was severely bowed and not level enough for tile. Brian took the floor down the the joists and had to shave down the warped joists. The floor was then recovered with plywood, and rock board. Another problem with the ceiling, another warped joist. Unfortunately the problem wasn't caught until after the drywall man had finished. Brian had the drywall man rip out part of the ceiling, shaved the joist, and re-drywalled. What I really liked about Brian is his attention to detail. If something wasn't just right, he would fix it at his expense, no matter how small or big of an issue. During the course of the project there were many issues that would've never been noticed, but Brian insited on fixing them. Right at the beginning of the project we went out with Brian to shop for materials. First we went to the tile store where we picked out ceramic floor tile and marble wall tile, plus granite accent mosaic tile. Price of tile was about $1200. Later on we opted to do a custom shower pan instead of fiberglass. This cost us an additional $500 which included the rock pebble floor material we picked out. Brian had suggested the pebble stone base fore the shower floor. We had never seen this. It looks awesome. Next, we went to a cabinet place and picked out the vanity. Our vanity would be custom made with and open area in the middle with a quartz slab shelf. We also opted for a kitchen height/depth vanity. Brian also suggested the kitchen height vanity. We're glad we went with that. Then we went to the quartz manufacturer, to pick out our quartz slabs. Then off to the plumbing store. This was the expensive part. We couldv'e gone with low end Home Depot plumbing fixtures, but we decided to do it up right. We spent $800 on a Kohler Kallista toilet, $800 (X3) for Hansgrohe vanity faucets and tub faucets. Hansgrohe shower head, 2 Kohler shower tile body sprays, and shower valve/trim etc. All together we spent about $4,500 for plumbing stuff. Brian picked up the cost of two Kohler undermount rectangular sinks. After the demo, Brian and Alan installed the new tub framework, enlarged the door opening to the toilet area, removed old doors and trim. The electrical sub came next. We added a few new outlets, two new high end ceiling ventilation fan units, and an extra can light in shower, Up next was the plumbing sub who came in to do the rough connections for the tub, double sinks, toilet, and shower heads (3). The drywall sub was next. All demo'd wall and ceiling areas were drywalled. Any other drywall areas with imperfections were also repaired. He then shot all the walls and ceilings with a very fine orange peel finish. After the drywalling was done, Brian and Alan painted the entire bathroom with the color of our choice. Next up was the tile sub. This was the longest part of the project. Jesse did a great job in preparing the shower wall with Harde rock board and used a special waterproofing mastic on entire area. He then installed the floor tile, then the shower marble, and finally the rock pebble shower pan. Jesse does excellent tile work! Brian and Alan then installed the new doors and woodwork and painted them white. Then the new vanity was installed. The next step was getting the quartz manufacturer out to laser measure for the quartz slab vanity top and tub top. Unfortunately there was at least a 10 day wait on the quartz, so our job was idle for a bit. The quartz finally arrived. fit perfect except for a bit of modification by the tub overflow area. Jesse was able to knoth out part of the quartz slab underneath to make the drain fit properly. After the tile and quartz was in, the plumber came back out to make all the final connections. Next up was the shower and mirror glass. The shower was laser measured for the 3/8" frameless glass. Like the quartz, there was an unexpected wait time of about 15 days. Finally, the shower glass comes. Looks awesome. Jesse then came out to finish grouting and caulking. Also included in the remodel price was tiling of our second bathroom. This bathroom also had carpet over linoleum. Project done! Brian and Alan then removed all their equipment and cleaned the entire work and traffic area thouroghly. Brian and I then went over the final bill. There were a few additions, but many subtractions. Since the job was delayed because of the quartz and shower glass, Brian compensated me for the delays. I don't think you will find any other remodeling contractor that would do that! I highly recommend Brian Papnick of Diamond Kitchen & Bath for your remodel. I will definitely use him again in the future.
