Initially, it seemed as if Colonial was all about customer service. Then it became obvious they subcontract to Boost van lines, who were rude, dismissive, lied about where the truck was, couldn't speak English, obviously changed our truck on multiple occasions, kept our stuff hostage in a freezing warehouse in New Hersry for two weeks while they lied and said it was "en route". The delivery date was changed so many times, I lost count. We were commanded to be AVAILABLE for them, so we rushed cross country in 10 days, only to be jerked around for over two more weeks, practically every day being promised they were "en route" and "almost there". Their location a week after these lies was found to be New Jersey!!!!!! We were homeless for two weeks, and our daughter who moved with us was sleeping on her floor and able to microwave her food in her apartment with a microwave she packed in her car because she shared "I knew something would happen and I never trusted them!" The coup de grace was when they finally showed up (a total fiasco of my husband having to be the coordinator to broker with the other trucking company in Seattle who they were supposed to deal with) and there were only two men, one of which had driven thousands of miles, in a truck I didn't recognize (they said our stuff would not leave the original truck) and it was strewn all over the inside of the container...things obviously smashed and broken...and then the driver gets in a fight with my new neighbor and I hear him yelling "Go ahead and call the police!" In his thick Russian accent (after the initial contact with Colonial and their impotent customer service rep, we dealt with the crew who were strong, but not customer friendly Russians, all of which could not speak English except one, who was shoving blank paperwork in my face telling me to sign it and he hadn't filled out the necessary bill of lading items, couldn't understand the concepts and got angry and offended when I challenged him and called the rep. The day the things came to the house, the driver asked how many men loaded us in PA, and I said 6, and he cursed and said the company put all this burden on the two of them. Oh, and he got lost multiple times or so he said but they could have been getting drunk in Las Vegas for all we knew (conjecture here), Totally horrific experience!!!!! I would consider a Colonial move apt punishment for my worst enemy.
