Owner Operator, Owner of company does every job. Leak Detection is a specialized sector of the plumbing industry, and not all companies have the equipment and experience needed to handle detection and repair. We use technologically advanced detection equipment that allows us to locate and repair leaks efficiently. With our state-of-the-art equipment, we’re able to find the problem. We will come out and find your water line leak. We utilize many methods to find the leak. We have highly sensitive ground microphones that can hear the water movement through the pipes and water leaking out of the pipe underground. To verify water leaks that we have found we can use helium gas, as a tracer gas, if necessary. Helium gas is lighter than air and is tasteless, odorless, and non-flammable. It is inert and consequently does not react with water or water system materials. It is commonly used in the medical, food, and sea-diving industries. We pressurize the water line with helium gas and have a detector that works above ground to detect gas leaking out of the water line, rising through the soil. There are times we will also listen with the acoustic equipment for the gas escaping out of the water line where the leak is present. Not only do we use helium gas, we also utilize other types of compressed gases to get the job done. We come to every job prepared to do what it takes to find the leak. On 4/2 I got a visit from the city water department as they suspected I had a major leak. I had previously noticed a leak in the cement wall leading to the garage. We had thought this was from the very heavy rains we had for several months, it wasn't! I attempter to locate a company to fix the problem I checked both the phone book and Angie's List. The only company I located that specialized in repair/replacement of water mains. I contacted Clearwater on 4/3 and Simon Calis came to the house at the time he said he would. He inspected the leak location and told what he could do to repair the problem and pointed out what problems could be encountered with the repair. He gave a estimated cost and would work out the cost the evening a email me a contract. It arrived on 4/4, he also said Monday was available for the repair! I contacted him by email on 4/5, told 4/7 would be perfect as I was going to be gone for two weeks starting 4/8. He mentioned arrival of eight AM in his email, they arrived exactly at that time and went directly to work. They brought a large truck that was pulling a trailer with a shovel on it, prepared for all emergencies. He brought a helper, they were both busy all day long. The job was completed by four PM. The yard was in better condition when they finished than it was previously. GREAT JOB!

Great job! Simon did a great job. His overall manner was very professional. It was a pleasure doing business with Simon and we would definitely recommend him to anyone and we would use him again.
Description of Work: Found a small leak. . The leak was not easy to find because it was small. He ended up finding it by using helium gas in the pipes.

I live in a very old community of homes with one water meter. We have had a water leak for many years that we were never able to isolate. Last summer it became much worse so we called Clearwater Leak Detection. Simon scheduled a time to come out when we had to be able to turn the water off to 10 homes, not an easy job to coordinate. He was punctual and verified quickly that none of the homes were leaking. He then spent several hours following and marking for us where there was pipe so we could map our property. He then filled the line with helium and "sniffed" out the area of concern. We had a plumber isolate that section of the water line and that resolved the leak we were never able to find ourselves. It turned out to be under some garages that were built in about 1950. We never would have found it without Simon and his mapping of the line - we didn't know there was a water line there! We have already saved the cost of his services on the reduced cost of our water bill. I also cannot say enough about his professionalism. It is very difficult to deal with 10 home owners at one time; he was beyond gracious with us. I would highly recommend calling Clearwater Leak Detection as soon as you know you have a problem. The time and frustration saved is immediately worth the call.
Description of Work: Isolated the location of a long term water leak! Our water bill is about 66% reduced since Simon worked with us.

I called Simon Dec. 30th to see when he could come to pinpoint where a leak in my water main was. Potentially important where it was as it could be the utilities responsibility instead of mine. He said he could come Dec. 31st. He arrived at 10:00 and after telling him all I knew he went to work. He located the leak and examined it. He is also a licensed plumber so he is very capable of repairing this problem. He noticed that there was some blue plastic pipe coming from the water meter to my copper pipe. He suggested I call Seattle Water and ask for an inspector to look at the connection as he was aware that Seattle Water has had problems with this plastic pipe in the past. I did as he suggested and Seattle Water repaired the break at no charge to me. He probably passed up approximately $1500.00 by advising me to call the City. Simon is a personable, straight forward man and I would not hesitate to have him perform work for me again or recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: I discovered a leak by my water main on my side of the water meter. Simon utilized his sophisticated locating equipment until he realized that due to some plastic in my water system he could not use it to locate the leak. He resorted to simple logic and a shovel to pinpoint where the leak was coming from.

This leak was very small. Just a 1/4" split in a 1" black abs pipe. It had been leaking for at least a month but there was no surface evidence of the leak. Simon isolated it by sound detection and pinpointed the location in a 2' by 2' square area. I hired a laborer to dig a pit through the glacial till. What a hard job. Simon was very helpful in instructing me as to how to repair the damaged line. I repaired the line myself but it would have impossible without his help. Hopefully it never happens again, but if it does I will have Simon do the entire job just to make sure it's done right. He knows his business and I wholeheartedly recommend him.

I did not have an accurate map locating waterline; just rough approximations. Operator located line using sound detection and electrical detection devices. Could not isolate significant leaks with standard equipment so he fed helium into the line from one branch and found leak at a joint near house; joint merged plastic pipe with iron pipe. Pressurizing line with helium created an audible noise at leak. Completed work within quoted minimum time of 3 hours. Very professional and knowledgeable owner/operator.

After we realized we had a water leak late one evening I contacted CLD, leaving a message and sending an email. Simon promptly responded to my email that night, describing his minimum fee and when he could come out to my house the next morning. The next morning he called me when it became apparent he would be about 15 or 20 minutes late, which I greatly appreciated. It took about two hours to locate the leak in my 120+ foot water line under difficult conditions (the ground was very saturated and the pipe turned out to be much deeper than expected), using both sonic locating equipment and then pressurizing the pipe with helium. It took another two hours to uncover the 3+ foot deep pipe and repair it in very wet and muddy conditions (we had to pump large amounts of water out of the hole at least three times). Through the entire process Simon was very professional, he had all of the right equipment on his well-equipped truck, he did his best to protect our yard, and he was a pleasure to work with. One of the many things I appreciated was he didn't talk on his phone while "on the clock" with my project even though his phone rang frequently. Simon also freely gave me valuable advice about water line replacement options (using technology performed by other providers due to the size and nature of our property) since our water line is over 35 years old and should probably be replaced the next time we have a leak.

Amazing care taken to ensure landscaping and fill dirt were replaced so that all looked exactly as it did before the necessary digging was completed. Water line proved to be nearly four feet down. Service was done completely, reasonably priced, and with friendly service. I would not hesitate to call Clearview Leak Detection again.
Description of Work: Detected leak in water main outside our home and returned to fix the leak. Work was done with highest professionalism and efficiency. Surprisingly prompt response to my initial e-mail describing our water problem; received a phone response within 15 minutes and technician arrived only a few hours later to assess the problem, give a work estimate, and schedule a day for a return trip to do the necessary repairs. After digging down to the water line, the leak proved to be in the exact spot that had been marked out during the first visit and was repaired perfectly.

Overall the whole experience was great. I helped dig 3' after he located the leak to cut the cost down, the water line ended up being 3' below where I was digging. He was extremely careful since the water line was buried next to the main power lines, would not recommend DIY if the water is next to power lines. Took 2 hours to locate, I dug for 3 hours, and the rest was about 3 hours.
Description of Work: Called to locate water main leak, responded the next day and located the leak within 10-15' of the meter. Next day came out and found the leak within 6" of the his leak detection. Repaired the leak and tested it. Has every tool to get the job done.

I found CLD after reviewing TONS of reviews here, mostly of plumbers with their share of horror stories regarding water main repair. CLD seemed to have nothing but GREAT reviews, with prices that seemed reasonable. Based on my experience, I am VERY glad I called Simon (CLD owner)...and would call CLD again (and only CLD) if I needed to repair the water main again. I was looking for someone to repair a leak that I could had somewhere - I could hear a sound similar to water running thru pipes inside the house, but I could not find a leak anywhere. No wet ceiling, no drips in crawl space, no toilets leaking. After finding CLD here, I emailed about 7pm on a Saturday evening. I was surprised to get a reply about an hour later. After a phone call Sunday morning discussing the problem, Simon was at the house a few hours later. He went straight to work, walked thru the house to hear the sound I reported, continued to dig where I had begun earlier that morning, and found the leak rather quickly. The leak was located in a flexible pipe, which was done who knows when by a previous owner when cutting in the branch to a front hose bibb. Simon quickly made the repair, cutting in all new copper piping and fittings, replaced the main shutoff valve, and did some repiping per my request (and him agreeing it was a good idea) to relocate branch line and add extra shutoff valve for more flexibility. Since it was all dug up and he was already here, why not? After buttoning everything up, everything was back to normal - actually, better than before. Leak fixed, new valves, new valve box with easy access to shutoff valves. Simon did a fantastic job, was very professional and personal, answered all my questions (and there were many), and left the yard at the repair in good shape. I would call CLD again in a heartbeat if anything else needs repair, and have already recommended him to others if they find themselves in a similar situation...
Description of Work: Fixed water main leak into house, also repiped branch line to front hose bibb so that it was DOWNSTREAM of main house shutoff valve (previous branch installation was UPSTREAM of main shutoff - branch did have a valve, but handle missing and valve not operable, so no way to shutoff in an emergency).

I called and talked to Simon and he gave me his minimum and set up a time to check on my leak. He arrived on time, found the leak and set up a day to do the repair. He actually was able to do the job three days sooner than thought (did it on a Saturday) which saved me a lot of money in water fees. Him and his helper arrived on the set time and went right to work. He put in a line so we had water while he did the repair and went right to work. Got the repair done and did a great job of cleaning up and putting the sod back down. I am very happy with his work.
Description of Work: I am very happy with the water line replacement Simon and his crew did. He arrived on time and left the yard looking just like it did before he started. I would recommend him to my friends and family in the future.

I contacted Simon via email late one evening and received a prompt reply early the next morning to set up an appointment. He showed up right on schedule, reviewed my situation, and gave a very reasonable fixed dollar estimate on the spot. He promptly emailed a written proposal which provided a formal description of our agreement, including pricing and other legal details. Since running a line involved burrowing underground in a gravelly soil which is laced with rocks, ranging from small potatoes to beachballs, involved risk, we agreed on a contingency fee for his effort if the burrowing plan proved unachievable. Simon was able to start a few days earlier than scheduled and watching him and his assistant perform the task was a sight to behold. First of all, they arrived with a fully equipped rig with everything needed for the job-- and more. They performed the job skillfully and smoothly with scarcely any wasted motion. The job was completed in less than 4 hours. In addition, since the job went well, Simon voluntarily replaced the corroded piping connection between the repaired water line and the meter at no cost so that it would meet his high standards. They kept the job site neat and there was virtually nothing to clean up when they left. Simon conducted business in a very direct and professional manner. He gave straight answers and didn't appear to sugar coat anything. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the result.
Description of Work: My problem involved a substantial leak in the 100 ' water line between the meter and my house. The leaking section of the line was isolated by me to a 35' length running under my new asphalt driveway and concrete sidewalk. I badly wanted to avoid digging up a section of my new driveway. The job involved replacing the leaking section of waterline without damaging the driveway.

We cannot say enough good things about this company! We called on a Friday at 2pm after we got a notice from the city that we had a HUGE water leak from our house. The company owner was out at our house by 3pm that day. He spent over 3 hours helping us to locate the leak, which happened to be under a very large boulder. He was able to plan with us an alternate strategy to fix the leak saving us thousands of dollars and making it so we didn't have to dig up the large boulder. Both he and his crew were professional and on time. His prices were very reasonable and competitive as we called around to several other companies to get quotes.

Good work quality, experience and efficiency are extremely important to me and Simon at Clearwater Leak Detection did not dissapoint me. I would not hesitate to contact and hire Simon again if I had a similar problem in the future. I was notified on Friday July 6th by the local water district that my water meter was constantly spinning and my household water consumption was approximately 20 times the normal usage rate so far for the month. After assistance from the water company it was determined that the leak in the waterline was somewhere between the meter and the outside of the house. The water company also warned me that my water bill was approaching several thousand dollars so I immediately had the water turned off at the meter. I contacted several plumbing companies and American Leak Detection but was unsuccessful at getting any of the companies to help me until the middle/end of the following week. I then located Clearwater Leak Detection on Angie's List and Simon came out to my house the same day I called, performed several tests and located the leak in the yard. Simon returned the next morning and proceeded to dig out a 4 x 51/2 foot hole in the yard to reach the damaged waterline caused by a tree root. He then replaced/repaired the damage portion of the pipe. This was no easy task because my house sits on a hill and the yard contains mature plants, large trees and rocky soil. Simon did a great job!
Description of Work: I contacted Clearwater Leak Detection to locate a leak in my waterline between the meter and my home. Simon used both an auditory probe and pressurized gas processes to locate the source of the leak. Once the leak area was determined Simon had to dig a 4 x 51/2 foot hole in the ground to reach the waterline. Simon tested the area to assure it was the only source of the leak and then proceeded to cut out the damaged portion of the pipe and replace it.

We received an extremely high water bill and determined that the leak was most likely outside, underground. In the weeks between the last billing and my meter readings our usage continued to be unusually high, but my readings showed very little current usage. We have previously had a broken water line between the meter and under our garage before the line enters the house. After unsuccessfully searching on Angie's list (I was only getting plumbers or a "no results" if I put in "outside water leaks or underground water leaks" - I Googled the same and found Simon Calis, owner of Clearwater Leak Detection. It was during the week of our big snowfall and Simon is located a long distance from our home, but he was willing to come out as soon as snow and downed trees allowed. Our situation was not an emergency. Simon checked in with me several times regarding his arrival date and time - I was all ready impressed! Simon arrived on time only to encounter a Mystery! He took a look at our meter - and said "the good news is - you don't have a leak". The meter simply wasn't showing any movement. Well, I begged to differ - our water bill is generally 3 1/2 times lower than the one we had just received. So Simon went through our house from top to bottom checking toilets and anything else that might be the culprit. He examined each of our outside faucets and rechecked the water feed to our hot water heating system too. We got out old water bills for comparison - there simply was no explanation for such a high use. My husband and I and Simon brainstormed for some time and then we realized that in the course of installing a new concrete driveway we had just replaced an exterior faucet water line that lays under the concrete driveway. Mystery solved! Between the high water use (and my meter readings and Simon's arrival) we had replaced the leaking pipe (not really knowing it was leaking because the weather made all the ground wet anyway). Thanks to Simon's perseverance & insight we feel assured our problem is solved. He was not going to give up!
Description of Work: Leak Detection Services A high water bill alerted us to the possibility that we had a water leak. We were very worried we would have a $1,000+ water bill at our next reading, but our meter wasn't currently showing much usage. Simon checked all inside and outside faucets and toilets but found no indication of current water use to match our previous high bill. He persevered until he solved the puzzle. See details below. No current leak but the price and quality of his service was well worth the fee. We have an answer and piece of mind!

I had a broken water pipe under my very steep driveway. I had contacted several plumbing companies for quotes on a fix which was complicated because the leak was most likely under the driveway or garage floor somewhere. Estimates ranged from $2500 to $4000. To save money, on Thursday I called Clearwater myself to find the leak first (instead of letting the plumbing companies contract it out). Clearwater came out on Thursday, same day, to give me an estimate of around $400 - $500 for leak detection services. Clearwater then came out Friday morning and found the leak in the lawn inches from the driveway. He dug quite a long time and found there were two broken places in one pipe which was 3 ft under ground. These were fairly quick fixes, and so I authorized Clearwater to make the fixes the same day (instead of waiting for a plumbing company to come out sometime the following week.) Clearwater did an excellent job, PLUS the total charge was $918, which saved me a minimum of $1500 off the cheapest plumbing company estimates.
Description of Work: Clearwater came out and located a leak in a pipe next to the driveway. He then dug 3 ft. down and found that the pipe actually had 2 leaks. He fixed both leaks, filled in the hole, and ended up saving me a minimum of $1500 off other plumbing company estimates for the job.

Challenging experience as described above. Overall, Simon did exactly what he said he would do.
Description of Work: Found and repaired water leak in line from meter to the house. This was a challenging job since the line was over 1000ft and we did not know where the line was actually located. Simon worked parts of 2 days to find the line and leak in terrible weather and then worked a 3rd day to repair it. Overall, it was a very good experience. While leak detection rates are not cheap, Simon was worth every penny. I would highly recommend this company to anyone with a leak problem.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my water main. After digging for 3 days and not being able to locate it, I called Clearwater and set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment, the owner, Simon Calis, showed up right on time. I explained to him my problem: I had a leak in my water main, which 900 feet across two ajoining properties to the meter, and that no one was quite sure where the line even ran. Simon's approach to the problem was methodical and professional. Using a variety of tools at his disposal (various forms of listening devices, metal detectors, etc), Simon located my main line. He then issolated the leaks to two sections of pipe (he put in shut off valuves at various points in the line and we were able to locate the areas of the leaks). Yes, I had two leaks, neither of which were accessable because large cedar trees had grown up over the pipe. He then advised me to replace the entire line between the two points he located and that that should fix the problem. It did.

It was a good experience. I felt confident from the first that my leak was going to be fixed. I was happy to not be dealing with a company who's first response might have been to jackhammer through my concrete driveway and install a lot of unnecessary new pipe. I felt the service I received was efficient and appropriate.
Description of Work: I had a leak in the water liine between the meter and my house. Mr. Calis arrived promptly and with all the necessary equipment to locate the water line to my 40-year-old house. The line ran under my driveway and took several methods to find it. Mr. Calis repaired the line and restored my water service. He also installed a new turnoff valve at the house. He was good at explaining everything to me, did a lot of hard labor digging holes to get to the problem and install the new valve, and suggested and performed a repair which was successful and reasonably priced. He returned my yard (two different work spaces) to better condition than when he arrived.
