+ -1 moreWorkers showed up on time, as scheduled. They completed all of the repair work in half a day (faster than I had expected), and returned about ten days later with the newly constructed windows. The new windows were installed in a professional manner, with no problems encountered. When the workers had to enter the house to do some of the work, they wore paper booties to prevent dirty shoes from damaging the carpet.
Description of Work: Workers removed four windows and replaced them with newly constructed windows. They also repaired nine windows that were damaged by dry rot. Repairs included replacement of sills, sub sills and brick mold, and caulking around all windows and wood that was replaced.

+ -1 moreIt went well. A work crew was sent out to assess the job. They reported the issues to Frank the manager, then he set the price. The work crew was friendly. Frank, the manager, is well informed and understood the ins and outs of wood window maintenance. He gave me the technical lowdown on why my Pozzi wood windows were not performing as I would expect. They were also happy to show me how to repair the windows myself, which I valued.
Description of Work: The sides of the wood windows had to be stuffed with insulation to tighten them in the frames, and the campivots had to be replaced.

+ -1 moreThis project costs exactly $4861.00 Labor cost was. 4350.00. I think that the labor cost was high.
Description of Work: 20 window locks were replaced. 12 sash cords were replaced. 20 panes of glass were replaced. Inside surface of window frames had to be removed to install sash cords.

Description of Work: Contracted for Pull sash, plane, kerf, weatherstrip and reinstall as operational. 2 wood windows. Began about 7/1/05. They removed and reinstalled 1 window twice, damaged both metal tracks, installed new at addl cost. Was told 8/10 they quit & walked off job leaving 2 inop, damaged windows. Billed me for work complete per their change order I had not seen. Header sag is a structural problem and not a direct window issue . Called office. Told by manager too bad . 8/28 owner inspected job, said not well done, he would talk to mgr & get work done right . Never heard from them again. They refused calls. I then inspected the windows - new track was improperly installed. Removed both windows without damage. Both windows had been planed excessively because the repairman was unable to figure out what was really binding!!!! Adjusted the track in less than 30 minutes. Then had to modify the window opening with the more sash material. Took about 4 hrs for amateur to complete job.

+ -1 moreThe estimater came and quickly measured the windows. He was very rushed and maybe took seven minutes to measure twelve windows. We had marked the defective windows with tape. The workmen replaced the windows and were polite and did a quality job. However, I noticed on some windows they were only replacing one sash instead of both in a window. The estimator had missed several windows evidently. After work was completed, we noticed the awning windows had not had the operable part repaired. When I contacted ''Frank'' the owner, I was given another estimate to repair these two tiny windows, with a labor charge almost half of the cost to replace all other 12 windows. When I commented that the estimator had missed these windows and we shouldn't have to pay another minimum service charge, I was told ''Then find another company to replace your windows!''. I did.
Description of Work: They replaced the glass in wood windows, in which the thermopane seal had broken. Some windows were double hung, some were casement and some were awning.

+ -1 moreCraftsmanship is great. This company doesn't mess around with trendy, off the ''big box store'' shelf solutions. Only quality materials are used, such as vertical grain fir; pieces are milled on-site or in their shop to fit your unique needs; and on a DAILY basis, the lead worker asked me to view and walk around and bring up questions -- all as a way to plan the next day! RARE communication! Almost every phone call or email was answered within 24 hours. I have NEVER received this from any other company! Chosen isn't cheap -- in any sense of the word. But you get what you pay for--impeccable record keeping, communication and craftsmanship.
Description of Work: A variety of repairs and upgrades for wood windows and exterior moldings. This was a difficult job since even though the windows were 1980's vintage, the house walls were built in 1934. We had clouded glass, rotted sills and moldings, and unusual sizes and shapes such as non-standard arcs and circles --yet we wanted to keep the basic windows and look.

+ -1 moreTHEY WERE ALL PROFESSIONAL AND HAD GOOD COURTESY. I DON'T HAVE ANY BAD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THEM. AS FAR AS I KNOW THEY WERE EXCELLENT. THEY WERE PROMPT, THEY SET UP A TIME FRAME AND STUCK TO IT.
