Jim diagnosed the problem over the phone, and walked through what I could expect to hear from pipe contraction/expansion particularly with hot water. His explanation saved a visit. Very professional.
Description of Work: Called around what I thought was a leak in my plumbing (I could hear what sounded like dripping for a short period after some-one took a shower, ran faucet etc.)

Jim came to our house to provide an estimate. He called in a timely manner to give us a fixed priced estimate. My initial impression was that it seemed a bit high, but not out of line, and since they were able to do the work in the time frame that I needed, I hired them. Kevin arrived on a Friday to shorten the gas line and cap it so that I could take out the existing kitchen counter and cupboards. He worked quickly and efficiently. The next week Kevin arrived to convert the kitchen plumbing for use with the washer. As near as I could tell, Kevin worked diligently all day at the project. My impression was that it turned out to be more complicated than expected. He was very professional and kept me informed of what he was doing. When it was time to unhook the old plumbing, he encountered a snag and ran out of time to complete the job. So, he came back the next day and spent another hour finishing the job. All-in-all, I felt the job was well done, and given how long it took, I suspect that the project may have been underbid. But, they stuck to their bid without any hesitation.
Description of Work: We converted a downstairs kitchen area to a laundry are. Stack Plumbing came in and converted the kitchen plumbing for use with a washing machine, shortened a gas line and installed a valve for use with a gas dryer, and disconnected all of the plumbing in the old laundry area.

Our bathroom sink had been crazily plumbed (a strange compilation of hand-tightened plastic goosenecks, PVC and steel elbows) and was leaking and generally falling apart. I called Stack on Friday and made an appointment for Monday morning. Journeyman Michael arrived right on time, gave me a couple of options which we discussed and then got to work. He worked quickly, neatly and was very friendly and professional. I'll be calling Stack Plumbing whenever I need plumbing work (which is highly likely given the state of the 60 year old galvanized plumbing in my house).
Description of Work: Re-plumbed a bathroom sink drain which had been poorly connected by previous homeowner.

Michael arrived on-time and completed three of the four replacements quickly and cleanly. Mike Stack also showed up to assemble the toilets while Michael pulled out and prepared the areas. One toilet had been leaking from base for a while and in pulling out the old toilet, it was discovered that there was extensive water damage to hardware and subfloor. Michael cleaned up what he could and then made sure that he completed the prep work for replacement after we could get someone to replace the floor. Mike recommended someone and even made a call to tell Wayne what was going on. After the floor was replaced, they promptly came back and finished the job. Excellent customer service and followup. Am highly pleased with the quality of the new toilets.

Great job! He arrived ahead of schedule (called ahead to ask if it was okay to come early), quickly diagnosed the problem, was able to fix the problem without having to replace the part in order to save me money, completed the job early, and cleaned up well. He was very polite and easy to work with.

They were quick, clean and true to their word. The estimator came out in the morning, gave me a quote and asked me when I wanted the job done. At that moment he got a call from one of his crew that was working on another job was waiting on an inspection visit. The estimator asked me if I had time in an hour. I agreed to stay and wait for the plumber. The plumber showed up 45 minutes later and began work. He asked me for permission to drill into a beam. He did the work quickly and well - and he cleaned up after himself. Nice guy too. The final price was almost exactly as quoted. I'm always wary of contractors, but Stack Plumbing did a great job for us.

After I'd gotten the leak detected, Stack Plumbing came right out and fixed it. The leak was, unfortunately, underneath a cement walkway, but they tore up a minimum of the cement, and fixed the leak. And also fixed the indoor leak. It was all great!
Description of Work: I had a water main leak from the street to my rental house. And based on their great Angie's List reports (and their location in Kirkland) I contacted Stack Plumbing. Jim Stack came out when promised and told me exactly what I needed to do. Get the leak, identified (he gave me the name/phone number of a leak detection company) and they would come back and fix it. I also needed to get all of the utilities identified, the gas lines, etc and he gave me the number for that. I also had an indoor leak in the main bathroom wall, behind the shower. And they fixed that, too.

Mike and Kevin from Stack Plumbing did a great job of rebuilding our 4 toilets. They are very polite and helpful and they work quickly and efficiently. They were careful not to create any mess while working (always a plus when working with plumbing and water). They are exceptionally easy to talk to and work with and made sure we were satisfied before they left. I would definitely hire them again.

Mike came to the house a little after 3pm. He was unable to clear the clogged lines because he said I had a special type of pipe fitting in the wall which made it near impossible to fit the snake/auger as far into the pipes as it needed to go. I was very disappointed by this news because he spent the better part of an hour in his efforts. He also said he broke his auger cable and was unable to continue trying. His recommendation was that I call another company, who in his estimation, would need to pull a snake from the roof venting down into the kitchen plumbing in order for the line to be cleared. Still, he charged me the minimum for a service call - $137.21. After that I called another company whose technician was there within an hour, and cleared the drain in 30 minutes using the clean out opening under the sink. Given the fact that this company was able to dispatch the problem so easily, I asked that Jim Stack refund my service fee. He agreed, so the total cost was actually $0.
Description of Work: My kitchen sink was backed up and would not drain. I called Stack Plumbing to clear the pipes on Thursday morning, 10/25/07. I talked with Mike Reeves who said their schedule was backed up but he was willing to fit me in the following day (Friday) at the end of his shift between 2-3pm.

Excellent! Contacted Stack Plumbing after seeing they had high rating from Angie's List. Jim, the proprietor, answered the phone and was able to have someone out to fix it that afternoon. Talk about fast service! Technician fixed problem and proceeded to evaluate our toilets (which clog often, but I'm pretty good with a plunger). Tech recommended TOTO toilets, but didn't try to up sell to Stack. Appreciated objective evaluation.

I received a return call within two hours and was told someone could come out within an hour, which to my delight, actually happened. I found the plumber to be very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly, and he set about fixing the three drainage problems right away. There was a huge ball of hair stuck down in the bathtub pipe, which he pulled out with his electric snake. I have a hand crank snake, but it wouldn't have been able to do the job. He sold me an enzyme maintenance powder which I will use once or twice a month to prevent hair and oils from building up again. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Chris unclogged one very badly clogged bathtub, unclogged a slow moving sink drain, and checked out a shower drain that hadn't been used in three years to make sure it works properly. He noticed the shower head was cracked (in the shower that hadn't been used for years) and replaced it, free of charge.

This company was great on the phone. I called and left a message and was called back within the hour. We were able to schedule a plumber to come out within a few days. The plumber they sent was professional and courteous. He surveyed my situation, offered options and suggestions but was willing to work with me no matter what I chose to do. During his first visit he pointed out that access to the first hose bib would be tricky. He actually explained what he would have to do (cut through a wall under the kitchen cabinet) to access the difficult and old plumbing----then asked if I thought I might want to do that part myself and save myself some money--or hire a handyman whose per hour rate would be less? He charged me nothing for the visit and two weeks later came out and performed the work--once I was able to uncover the plumbing. I appreciate the money savings & the quality work!
