We used Stack on two occasions, once to replace all our toilets with low water versions, and another to repair some pipes. They did a good job and were professional. My only complaint is that on both jobs the final cost ran over the estimates.

Not only was Mike Stack a delight to work with, he pointed-out a solution to my ongoing (25+ years) problem that nobody else over that period ever mentioned, and that I was fixing for the fifth time. I only wish he did more stuff than plumbing!

I left a msg. about the problem and Jim Stack (owner) returned my call within 15 to 20 minutes. Based on the problem, he gave me an honest quote over the phone, whereas Roto-Rooter won't tell you. Within less than an hour, Kevin came over and fixed it. He was very nice and professional. He gave good advice about what toilet paper to use.

We used this company because of the recommendations from Angie's List. They were responsive and competent. They gave an estimate and they informed me when it looked like it was going to be a little bit more than the estimate. They made sure that I knew that it was going to be more than what they had originally thought. They were very careful about that and did the work very promptly.
Description of Work: I used Stack Plumbing in February this year. I had them put in a water shut off valve in the house. It had been an outdoor shut off valve and I had them install something inside the house.

I was very pleased with STACK plumbing. I talked to Jim the owner on the phone initially and he was very helpful. He even gave me tips on th ekind of toilet paper we shoudl be using to prevent blockages! Onthe phone he said I would receive $30 off each toilet installation and quoted me for each. He also said he would honor the Angie's List discount. Kevin arrived on time on the Tuesday morning, walked the house with me and listened to what I wanted done. He agree to work "on the clock" for fixing the waste disposal and trying to unblock one of our toilets before going the route of replacing it. He worked for an hour in total and stopped the clock at that point. Waste disposal was fixed but unfortunately the toilet upstairs coudl not be unblocked. Eventually I decided to go with replacing that toilet and the one downstairs. kevin had to run off to get a second toilet but was back at the time he had said. During the installation there was a problem with one of the outlets and he had to go get another part. All worked out - we love the Toto toilets that were installed. They were expensive but that is not Stack Plumbing's fault. They are a long-term investment and with a family of 5 will get plenty of usage. I would recoment Stack Plumbing and will use them for more work. Kevin was a no-nonsense, profesional worker. Oh and the $30 off each toilet as well as the Angie's List discount were both honored :-) I like people who keep their word.

Our experience with Stack Plumbing was terrible - I'd definitely suggest that other folks avoid them if at all possible. First, we called them to book them to do the project, and were given a long speech about how if they were hooking up to our drains, we needed to use their parts, because anything else was likely "lower quality" and theirs were great; as well, they couldn't guarantee the result unless they used them. Okay, we don't know much about plumbing, so we accepted. They came the next day and did the work, with a couple of bad things happening there: (1) the drains were cheap looking and ugly and (2) the guy that actually did the work spent half the time he was here telling me that I liked the job that he did - I was nervous about whether the sinks were placed correctly, and he spent a lot of energy telling me that he did a great job and that I really did like them. All of that was okay, but not that significant - so, he left after testing the drains (the faucets weren't there yet, so he poured buckets of water down to test). That night, we looked in the cabinets and the drains (both of them) were leaking on the floor! Both of them had puddles of water, so we called them back to get someone out to fix it (this is a Saturday morning). We got a call back later that morning - they couldn't get anyone out to our house before Monday, and we should "just stick a bucket under it" until then. Seriously? At that point, we decided to look at this ourselves and, though we're not plumbers, it was pretty clear that the drains were not installed properly, so we ripped them out and put in the replacements ourselves, and lo and behold, no more leaks. When we called them to tell them that we didn't want them to come out, they were EXTREMELY rude about the whole thing; we asked for some kind of refund to cover the fact that we ended up with our own drains and had to fix it ourselves, and the guy on the phone was really nasty about the whole thing - they gave us back 25% of the fee, but we literally had to leave the leaky drains on our front porch, so they could come and get them back. Overall, they were rude and did crappy work on the pipes; the sinks were set nicely, but the customer service was just so bad that I recommend you use one of the many other plumbers that are listed here.
Description of Work: We had a couple of sinks removed as part of another project, and the new sinks had offset drains, so we had Stack Plumbing out to both set the new sinks on the counter, and connect them to the drain.

We installed the members vessels as requested. The member did not have faucets but wanted the vessels installed any way. We installed their provided vessels. These type of sinks take more time than just installing a regular basin. We then asked about drains. We were told they didn't have any and we suggested grid drains for that type of vessel. We then installed two grid drains. They were tested using a small bucket (they did not have the faucets to installed to test with). There were no leaks at that time. I think this was on a Friday. On Saturday I received a call that there was a drip on the drain and they wanted me to come right out and fix it. I explained due to commitments I couldn't get out until Monday morning and to put a small bucket under it and we would take care if it at no charge. The member called back on Monday morning and said that her husband had installed the faucets and the they came with drains. He removed out drains and installed the one's that came with the faucets.Installing the drains was only a small part of what we did. The member felt since the drain leaked she should get all her money back because they used there drains. Again I tried to explain the we would have come back to tighten them at no cost and we did more work than just install drains. I offered to refund the cost of the drains and 1/2 hour labor plus tax. She agreed and I sent off a refund check that day. Lesson learned. Don't install sinks unless the faucets are installed to properly to test everything.

I have used them twice. I paid $250 for the kitchen faucet and $1000 for the hot water tank. There was one worker who came out both the times. He had integrity and was on time. He was very patient in explaining everything to me and answering all my questions. He cleaned up well; I could not tell that he had come out. I would recommend this company because they are reasonable. The actual price was in line with the estimate. They responded quickly. I will use them again in the future.

Our toilet was leaking and it looked like it would be a simple resealing job. However, as is typical in our older home (1958), when the toilet was removed the plumber found that things were not going to be that easy. The plumber made absolutely sure that I understood the situation 100% and gave me his opinion on next steps. Even with all the issues he was in and out in less than 2 hours. I wouldn't hesitate to call Stack Plumbing and will probably ask for the same person who came out, he was that good.

My wife and I are very pleased with Stack Plumbing. We needed someone to troubleshoot our garbage disposal, which stopped working after eight years. We chose Stack Plumbing because they could show up the next business day, when we were off work. Jim Stack, the owner of the company, asked me some questions on the phone to help me troubleshoot on my own. When it was clear that I could not fix it myself, he explained how they could either unjam the unit or replace it, clearly spelling out their hourly rate for unjamming if it was jammed and the flat fee to exchange the unit for a replacement, if necessary, that would suit our minimal needs. Mike Stack showed up the next day on time, carefully put on booties before entering the house, and quickly diagnosed the problem, showing us how the moving parts had rusted together. He replaced the unit, and asked if there was anything else he could do. We had him fix the dripping kitchen faucet (he replaced the ball unit) and remove a water filter that we didn?t use anymore, both of which he completed quickly with a minimal labor charge. He also recommended another professional for a non-plumbing issue that we asked him about. He gave us a 5% first-time customer discount for mentioning Angie?s List. We will definitely call on this company again when we need plumbing work done.

All of our original toilets were not performing well and had to be replaced. We had bought newtoilets ourselves, one of which didn't fit properly, so they provided one and replaced all three. In addition, they made recommendations for other home maintenance projects in our future.

Jim Stack is very professional and to the point. Don't expect some soft fluffy type, but he is very experienced, courteous as was his son Mike and other plumbers that worked on the project. They just came in and took care of business very quickly, with high quality and no funny business. They stayed right to the quote except for 260$ additional charge for having to come out on 2 extra occasions because one of the wall mounted sinks was defective twice. Its a totally fair charge, I'd hire them again without question, I just would have given an A on price if they wrote it off. They did some trouble shooting as I had a custom built soaking tub and they needed a novel solution for the drain.

Noticed soft hardwood flooring next to our sink counter and found that we had a leak that must've been going on, undetected, for some time. Went to Angies List to find a plumber and came across this family-owned business with great ratings immediately. Within 5 minutes of my intial plumbers search I chatted with Jim Stack, owner, and he had his son Mike heading our way to diagnose the problem. At my request, Mike supplied us with two general contractor references as the damage seemed fairly extensive. One of those referrals, Josh Taylor, came out the next day and gave me a workable solution and bid. He and Mike coordinated to have the work complete in two days, including bringing in a third party to fix the hardwood floor (Brian was great too!). What I really appreciated about this team was their professionalism, assuredness, and willingness to fix the problem without tearing out my whole kitchen counter (mahogany cabinets, solid granite counter, etc...a REAL mess and exponentially more expensive). They were a pleasure to have in my home, prompt, and came in on budget. I will recommend Stack Plumbing to my friends without reservation.
Description of Work: Repaired major water leak under kitchen sink, replaced toilet, fixed bathroom tub fixtures, rerouted A/C condensation drain, fixed underperforming kitchen sink facet. Also referred us to general contractor for kitchen floor and cabinet repairs (Josh Taylor, Evergreen Construction and Remodeling, 206-550-9699).

I have been thru my call log book for May, June & July and do not see a call from member. I do recall speeking with someone, it may have been the member, who had some very minor repairs that amounted to less than an hour or so of work. After listining to what had to be done, I explained that for those small repairs, we would only do at time and material. He also had an issue that could only be estimated after things had been taken apart to evaluate what in fact needed to be done and a cost along with that repair. This would be fair to both him and us, as to not charge him for something that didn't need to be done. This was explained to the person I talked with in detail. If it was the member I was speaking with, he may not have understood what I was trying to tell him. The person I spoke with said they would call back and let me know if they wanted us to take care of there plumbing problems.........Jim Stack

The technician was thorough, efficient, courteous, explained there might be some residual leaking and if there were problems to call immediately. No problems occurred. I will definitely use this company again when I change out the disposal. He even had one in his truck.
Description of Work: Noticed the instant hot water tank under the kitchen sink had developed a leak. Called Stack Plumbing Monday morning. My call was returned within an hour and a service technician was diagnosing the problem within half an hour after that. It was the instant hot water tank. As I had a replacement tank, the change out took 15 minutes. The technician had the same model in his truck which meant I would not have had to wait for days for a replacement part if I had not had my own tank.

We had a good experience with Stack Plumbing. Jim, the owner, came out to give the estimate. I was impressed by how thorough he was in looking at our existing plumbing. He noticed a problem with how our tankless water was piped and let me know why and how to correct it. We went with Stack Plumbing because a) we felt they would do the job right the first time and b) they are responsive to emails and phone calls. I was able to schedule the work with about a week's notice. On install day, I had up to 3 plumbers working plus Jim stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothly. They completed all the work in a day. Overall I'm impressed with the quality of the work. And we passed inspection on the first try! I felt like I got what I paid for.

The response from Jim Stack who is the owner of the company, with a quote for the job was very prompt. We then arranged for an installation date and the installer Kevin did a really good job. I wasn?t totally satisfied with the way the toilet seats fit on the bowl. So they were out probably 3 or 4 days later and replaced them with something that did fit. I am now really satisfied with them. They did a good job in everything. The price that they charged was fair. I got 3 estimates and their estimate was the middle estimate, but I chose them just because I felt that I had a better interaction with them. I will definitely use their services again.
Description of Work: I used the services of Stack Plumbing in the last month and they installed 3 new toilets in my home.
