Not great. I purchased one of the Angie's List deals for this service (paid $250 for $500 of work), otherwise I probably would have bailed on this company and hired someone else. Everything went pretty OK at first. We had the estimate done in August and scheduled the job to be completed on Sept 8. On Sept 6 I got a voice mail saying that they had to reschedule our upcoming appt because they were behind schedule. I had already requested this day off of work, and was not very happy about the change of plans and short notice. When I spoke to the receptionist, who was very nice every time I talked to her, she said that they were behind schedule because of a family emergency. Fine. So we rescheduled to Saturday Sept 23, 2 weeks later. I was told this was a special favor for them to come out on a Saturday. I was also told they would arrive at 8:00 AM so we got up early on our day off. When they had not arrived by 8:35 AM I called the mason's cell phone and he said they were finishing up another job from the day before and would not be coming today. Why didn't someone call and tell me that on Friday?? Mason blamed the schedulers and the manager, he didn't know why nobody notified me. At least someone at the company was in the office on Saturday, so I was able to speak to the new receptionist (who was also very nice, but seemingly powerless to do much) who said they had no idea that the masons hadn't finished the other job and as far as she knew they should have been at our house as planned. She said she understood why I was upset, that it was unprofessional, and that they absolutely would have the masons at our house on Monday. Well, guess what? They didn't show up on Monday either! I finally got to speak to the manager who gave me a whole lot of excuses and explanations, including that they had to fire the guy who does the estimates because he kept misjudging how long the jobs would take which meant they kept running behind schedule. Yes, this was the same guy who estimated our job. We finally got a "tentative" promise that they would complete the job the following Saturday, after we told them we absolutely could not miss any more time from work. The manager said he would personally call me on Friday to confirm if they were coming or not. I said that if I didn't get that phone call, I would fire them and hire somebody else (even though I felt locked in because of the Angie's List deal, but I was so frustrated at that point). Well, I didn't get that phone call, but I did get a text message from the mason saying he would be there the next day, and they actually showed up! The job took less than a day. I think he arrived around 8:30 and was finished up before 3:00 PM, and this included leaving for an hour to go purchase supplies. There was one chimney cap that he didn't have the right size (apparently due to faulty info from the estimate) and said he would have to come back the next day (Monday) to put it on. This ended up not getting done until Thursday. When it was all said and done, I was so relieved to not have to deal with this company again. I can't recommend them as they do not seem to be organized enough right now to complete their jobs on schedule.
Description of Work: Fireplace chimney repair needed due to water leaking into our fireplace when it rains. During the estimate, we were told that our second chimney for our furnace/boiler also needed work and recommended we do both in the same job. We agreed, although it was over twice as much as I was hoping to spend on the repair. In the end we had 2 crown rebuilds, 2 chimneys tuckpointed, 1 flue tile and 1 chimney cap. The cost of $1230 is before the $500 Angie's list deal discount.

A week before the appointment (which had been scheduled ~1 month before) they called and canceled it, as their inspector had quit. They were unable to offer us any services until over 5 months later. While their inspector quitting was an understandable occurrence, this has put us in a difficult situation of needing to reschedule this work in late September, when other companies are already booked out. I wish they had been more accommodating to help us get this work done.
Description of Work: I had an appointment with Chimcare to do a chimney inspection, tuck pointing, chimney cap installation, and fireplace screen installation.

They wanted to redo all the motar correctly, becuase the builder did not do it to code and they would need to rent scaffolding for over $700 to complete the work. We chose not to have the work done and decided to go with a company that would just fix the mortar that was failing.
Description of Work: The stone mortar in our entry archway was cracking and crumbling in some areas, especially around the wood trim. I bought a $250 coupon worth $500, but the estimate was over $1700. I just wanted the mortar repaired in the areas it was failing.

The woodstove baffles removed for the chimney cleaning we're not reinstalled correctly. This caused smoke to back up into the room whenever the woodstove door was opened. Homeowner ultimately identified the problem and reinstalled the baffles correctly.

They replaced the old chimney crown about one and half years ago. The crown started to show many small cracks starting from joints. The chimcare agreed that the estimator did not correctly propose the work and the work was not done correctly by considering the plastic sidings that we have for the chimney. They agreed to refund the cost. But never processed the refund!!!
Description of Work: My old chimney crown was cracked. I hired chimcare to solve this issue.

Okay, as far as cleaning the chimney went. However, the rep tried to "STRONGLY" encourage me to tear down, and replace the entire chimney at a cost of $5000. He was rather pushy, which put up a red flag. Quite frank.y, I have had other masons over, and they can fix the damage for a fraction of the cost

A bit confused about the work and the price and the timing. But it went fine in the end. They adjusted the price quite fairly for what they did, and found in the end they did not need to do.

The house was built in the 1940's and so a special chimney pot had to be ordered as it wasn't a standard size. The work was spread out over a couple of trips, however, overall the work was done quickly and well. I was kept apprised as to what work was being done, and when to expect the worker from Chimcare. After being at the house for the initial work, I felt confident in having the work completed while I was away from home. The work area was always kept neat and the chimney looks and works great. I've already passed along Chimcare's information to a couple of my neighbors who commented on how good the chimney looked.
Description of Work: The top three rows of my brick chimney had to be rebuilt, plus the chimney pots replaced and capped and a crown added. Additionally the brick was treated with water repellent and the chimney was cleaned

Response from Chimcare
Our technician who evaluated the chimney is a CSIA Certified Tech. Unfortunately most of our competitors are not properly trained in our field and give estimates for bandage repairs. These type of repairs will only last between 4-8 years at which the chimney will need to be reevaluated and repaired again. Unfortunately the State of Washington does not require masonry companies to be Certified leaving homeowners in bad situations such as this one. It is very important when hiring a contractor to make sure they not only have a contractors license but more importantly certifications in the area that they are specializing in.

The one fireplace was done well but was told I'd need to pay full price for the 2nd fireplace even though I told the person who I make reservations with I had 2 fireplaces. I'll find another special and ask them to come out again, seems like a waste to come twice but oh well.

How did it go? Like scripted by Murphy's Law!! But every glitch allowed the Chimcare personnel to rise above and problem solve. Andrew did the chimney cleaning and was rehired for later maintenance work. Stefanie held it together in the office. Special mention to Stefanie because she retained a customer with her sensitivity and candor.
