Description of Work: I have a minor leak around my chimney so I wanted to get some quotes. From the beginning, they were very prompt in answering calls, scheduling, and confirming the appointment. The technician who came out was Adrian and he showed up on time, got right to work to figure out what's wrong. He spent good amount of time here investigating. As it turned out he didn't think it was a chimney issue. It's more of a roofing repair which they do not do. So unfortunately they couldn't do the work even though I would have to work with them. Adrian followed thru on sending me the pictures he took on the roof as well. I really appreciated his professionalism and follow through on everything he promised. If I ever have issues with my chimney, I would absolutely work with these guys!

The scheduling process was very easy, and Chimcare was able to come out within 3 days of my phone call. I had called another company that scheduled me out two weeks. The technicians were ahead of schedule by 2 hours, but first called and asked if that would be okay. They swept the chimney from the inside of the house (due to a windstorm that day), but also climbed up to the chimney from the outside for inspection and measurements. They noticed that we had some water damage inside of the chimney, but it was small enough to not worry about. They also noted that it could be prevented by hiring an outside company to create a custom chimney cap. This is slightly confusing as I just noticed that they do have an Angie's List Deal for a custom chimney cap. The technicians provided me with a verbal referral to an outside company, rather than offering the services to create and install the custom cap themselves. However, everything that was scheduled seems to have been done properly, and the process went by smoothly, and it only took them about 30 minutes.
Description of Work: Cleaned and inspected the chimney. Provided recommendations based on their findings.

I had to pay half of the cost before they would do any work. My daughter called mutiple times and could not get ahold of the owner, who would not call them back. They were a no call no show for the first appointment. Eventually after multiple calls and a threat that we were going to call the police the owner finally answered his phone. Two men came over to do work on the chimney, but they were 2 hours late and spent more time smoking than actually doing any work, they tried to say that they were suppose to do far less work than was originally agreed upon.
Description of Work: They were hired to completely repair the chimney, but never did the work.

Response from Chimcare
I am surprised by this review to say the least. I was in constant contact with [member name removed]'s daughter and returned and/or answered every call. The job was originally scheduled on a Saturday. I was out of the office but had the phones forwarded to my cell phone like I normally do. The job was scheduled for 9am and I received a phone call at 10:30am wondering where my guys were at. I informed them to my knowledge they should be there and I would make some phone calls immediately to find out where my employees were. I finally got ahold of my employees and found out they were broken down on the side of the highway. Broken down or not, they had an obligation to call me and the customer to inform us both what was happening, which they did not. I take responsibility for the no call no show as my employees used lack of judgment in being more concerned about their car and forgot about calling the customer and their boss. I immediately called them back after talking to my employees and informed the customer what was going on. I made no excuses to my employees behavior and apologized over and over again while the customer’s daughter threatened me, yelled, and cursed me up and down. I was really surprised on how I was being treated, especially after I apologized up and down for my employees lack of judgment and I personally had nothing to do with this, along with being just as mad for them not calling me. Finally, the customers daughter agreed to let us come back on Sunday to do the job. I repreminded my employees and informed them they now had to work on Sunday to satisfy the customer. Sunday came along and while in church my phone started to blow up, I eventually sent a text to the number as I didn't know who was calling and found out it was [member name removed]'s daughter. I stepped out of church to call her to find out my employees were late, and again got the irate yelling and screaming. I called my employees and they were on the way, but late. My employees arrived to the home and began working on the chimney. Approximately 5 hours later the customers daughter came to the house. They discussed what was on the original estimate and the work they had completed so far. The customers daughter got another estimate mixed up with ours and was under the impression that we were tuck-pointing the chimney from top to bottom (100% of Chimney). The bid we had written up and submitted to them was for a 70% tuck point above roofline and random tuck-point below chimney of bad areas. My employees tried to explain to the customer that our bid was not for a 100% tuck-point of entire chimney. The customers daughter was rude to them, yelled and screamed at them and made threatening remarks. My employees kept their composure and tried to work things out with this irate person, unfortunately she was not the type of individual who is kind, understanding, or wanting to work things out. I told my employees to finish the work they had started, clean up the jobsite and head home. My employees and I both apologized and kept our composure while being yelled at and threatened and did our best to work things out with the customer. I refunded their deposit and the work that we did, we did at no charge to them. Unfortunately my employees made a mistake in not calling the customer to inform them that their car broke down and that they weren't going to make the 1st appointment. That is totally our fault and not something that is tolerated at our company. We have serviced thousands of customers with a perfect record but unfortunately this was just a freak accident and a bad weekend for us all. The employees have had a perfect record up to this point, so given the circumstance of their wrong doing, along with them acting professional in spite of someone yelling, screaming, cussing and threatening them. I have made the decision to write them up and to suspend them for a week with no pay for their actions. It is unfortunate that the customers daughter was not willing to work things out. I understand she has a right to be upset because we no called, no showed and arrived late. I totally get that as I personally would be very upset. However I would never treat someone the way that she personally treated my employees or myself. Every so often you come across that one customer that no matter what you do or say you can’t make them happy and they think the world is out to get them.

I was very satisfied with their work including the care taken to prevent soot to dissipate in the house.

These guys were fantastic! They worked hard, were determined to do the job expertly, and quite obviously know their craft. My fireplace went from being almost nonfunctional to working perfectly! And the two fellows who did the work were real gentlemen. An all-round perfect experience.

Chimcare was very responsive from answering the initial call, to scheduling a quick appointment, and promptly appearing at the time scheduled. We had moved into the house a couple years ago and had no idea whether a cleaning was needed before lighting a fire, or whether there were any other structural issues. Daniel quickly assessed that a cleaning wasn't needed and then continued with the inspection advising me along the way of things to look for down the road. I appreciated his honesty, communication, and friendliness.
