Pressure washing was done on Wednesday and with the metal caps, it looks brand new! No more soot or moss! The remaining step will be sealing the brick and final balance payment. Kodos to the scheduler who gave options & reminders as well.
Description of Work: Ryan from Seattle ChimCare inspected our chimney, thanks to a great coupon offer via Angie's List. He proposed basic maintenance: securing metal top & mesh caps over our furnace & fireplace stacks to reduce moisture, or animal nesting access, and pressure washing & sealing the brick. We'd not had an inspection in over a decade ago. Ryan was prompt, respectful, honest (thankfully the chimney was in good shape), and helpful in explaining the chimney condition. We are pleased by the work and customer service so far and would hire again and would recommend.

I had Chimcare bid on a chimney repair job. They were very professional and punctual. The bid was higher than others I found so I did not go with them, but I was impressed nonetheless with the company overall.

I found Chimcare on Angie's List and purchased a discount. We live in Woodinville. The chimney needed a total rebuild. It was 38 years old. It was dismantled one day, but the weather changed to snow and freezing temps. We waited a week until the weather improved. Scott and Troy finished the rebuild on a Sunday! The guys did a fantastic job. No mess left behind. Scott has been a mason for over 30-years. He is a perfectionist and the chimney is perfect. We are happy with the work and professionalism with everyone involved with the job from estimates, to scheduling, to execution. This type of work is not cheap, so when you spend thousands on a chimney, you may as well get the best.

The performed as advertised. I had originally rated them as an "A" all around. I just downgraded them to a "B" overall and a "D" for professionalism. The downgrading is covered below. They have been calling once a month asking for payment. Each time, I pointed out that the check has cleared the bank. I just got off the phone and hope I don't get another call next month.

I purchased the big deal on 1/3/2017 for a chimney cap for $175. But no one contacted me until the 11th. At this time, I was told that someone would come out on the 13th and install a chimney cap if they had the proper size. Ryan Van Houtte came out, left an inspection report saying that the mortar joints were deteriorated & needed tuckpointing for $942. and wrote "install stainless custom cap." But I have repeatedly emailed or called to find out the status of this work and have failed to receive a satisfactory reply. I did have one call back from someone who said he would get back to me in 24hrs but nothing came of that either. I am frustrated with this company & would be happier not to have to wait for them to follow through.
Description of Work: The provider came out to my house to install a chimney cap but nothing was installed nor was there an indication that it would be done at a later date. He did an inspection though.

It took one and half month to complete.. They failed to order right parts two times and each failure delayed the work about two weeks each. The work began in Nov and it ended in the middle of January. No fire during Xmas, nor on New Years Day.. and keep calling me about the payment everyday since it is done three days ago..

I found this company via Google at westseattlechimneysweeprepair.com. The problems were quickly assessed, and solutions recommended, by Mark, in a fairly timely fashion. It took a while to get the work itself scheduled, but that may have been because of high seasonal demand, demand reflecting their high ratings on consumer sites, or both. I had checked with other highly rated companies, and they couldn't even schedule an appointment to assess the problem (let alone schedule the work) by the time Chimcare had already completed everything. Mark and Troy came out to my West Seattle house on the day scheduled (arriving a couple of hours late, but that was not really a problem in this case), and worked steadily for several hours in below-freezing temperatures, completing both jobs that same day. Overall, things went well, and Mark and Troy were quite professional in their work.. The work quality looks good, although there has not been enougn rain since to assess whether or not the leak has really been fixed. The only opportunities for improvement that I would suggest would be increasing capacity to handle demand in a more timely manner, and showing up on time (or notifying the customer that there would be a delay) on the day scheduled.
Description of Work: Replaced the flashing around the chimney to stop the leak coming down around the chimney. Replaced the chimney cap that had blown off in a wind storm.

Andrew Wilt from Chimcare came out and inspected my fireplaces and chimney at my Newcastle home. Andrew was very professional and honest explaining that I did not need my chimney cleaned. He walked me through potential repairs that needed to be done in the future including providing me pictures that showed the damage. He was thorough in answering my questions and even provided a few pointers. He even answered my son's questions! I had a cap installed and found the price reasonable. I would definitely recommend Chimcare and when I am ready to do the repairs will contact them for the work.

It went very well. They pressured washed the chimney and let it dry. Then they came back and put a coating on top of the chimney to seal it from the elements. Also they saw that the flues were at the same level which is bad for correct functioning. They extended one flue and put stainless steel caps on both flues to keep the water out. After this was complete they sealed all the exposed brick work

Outside work was timely and done well. The interior work was less than ideal. I understand that there were some challenging aspects to the job, but the solution was less than aesthetically pleasing. The explanation was that there was a support pipe at the corner that had to be worked around and that supported the lintel above. The mason had to notch bricks to work around the pole, so notching for a better aesthetic was certainly possible. The brick that was installed had huge mortar joints that certainly did not match the existing work. In looking at a closeup of the side, you can see that he used 1 less brick than the space he was adjoining. We were vaulting the ceiling and from the first meeting with the estimator, that was discussed. When the estimate came, I didn't realize that extending the fireplace facade was not include. My bad. So we had them come back out to discuss the faults of the previous work and give us an estimate of the cost to extend upward. We pretty much got a defense of why things looked like they do and the estimate was another $1400 to finish the fireplace. As a result, we will be covering the existing brick with another material and the aethetics of the repair won't show.
Description of Work: Tore down chimney from roof up and rebuilt. Also built out the side of the interior fireplace to eliminate the open side of the firebox.

Response from Chimcare
I'm really sorry to see this review as we tried to go above and beyond for this customer. I think the customer just doesn't realize the specifics of this job. If you notice in the photo's the new bricks we installed are aligned perfectly with the old bricks. To do this we had to make the joints the size of what they are to keep the bricks aligned. ( Bricks today are not the same size/dimensions/looks as when they were made 30+ years ago) The customer is suppose to paint the brick red like other previous bricks so cosmetically/ aesthetically everything looks great. The metal support pipe is round making it difficult to install brick around it. It was a challenging endeavor but it was completed and built properly to what we had to work with.

I have used Chimcare before, I am a repeat customer. I don't mind paying the cost myself, since the condo board doesn't seem to be as concerned about dryer vent safety as I am. The technicians are always polite, courteous, and get the job done in about 30 to 40 minutes. They take the time to do a good job, they don't rush through it. I will be using them again next year. They pull out your dryer and clean all the duct work, and work their way out to the outside vent, giving everything a thorough cleaning. They even clean off the siding where the lint blowing out has gotten sort of "glued" to the siding from all the hot steam coming out of the dryer vent.
Description of Work: Chimcare comes out and cleans out my dryer vent for me, as my condo board doesn't keep up on this very well. I prefer to pay to have my own dryer vent cleaned myself, for safety reasons.
