This was the second time I hired LeBron Castleberry. Previously he re-built my balcony and replaced some windows and window frames. As before, I needed quality carpentry because of what living in the Pacific Northwest does to outdoor wooden structures. LeBron is honest, fair and a good communicator. I knew I could completely trust him to do a top notch job, and I was not disappointed. His trained associate, Micah, did the work, but it was under LeBron's direction and definitely up to his standards. I like that LeBron charges time and materials, as opposed to giving a quote and then perhaps needing to cut corners to still have the job work out for him financially. As LeBron has said to me, he never knows what he will find. I had so much trust in Le Bron, that I didn't even ask him what the total cost would be before he started. It is such a pleasure working with someone you know will not be trying to rip you off. I recommend LeBron Castleberry and Micah Fecher to you without any reservations.

Lebron transformed the back of our beloved craftsman home, bringing in light and air, and delivering fantastic indoor-outdoor movement and space while preserving its historic character. This level of craftsmanship has to be almost impossible to find. Along the way, Lebron solved multiple challenges typical of these old homes with exceptional skill and cost effectiveness. He was also creative in the project design stage — which he did for free (try that at a standard design-build outfit!) — seeing how he could add feet of glass beyond what we had imagined. He then perfectly installed a full glass kitchen door with new glass above and beside. Lebron also opened the wall next to this and installed a massive 5X5 picture window, matching perfectly the trim and design of the original windows in the house. Next, he built a beautiful cedar deck complete with an elegant tapered, hand-shaped handrail and set of stairs. He iced the cake by efficiently repairing a totally rotted window near the deck, and replacing the siding on the S. Side of our house by hand, doing such a careful job with the nailing and alignment that a contractor coming by later for some patinting and roofing paused and said — woah, who did that for you? Also, our project started in March 2020. As the world shut down, Lebron graciously accommodated all of our needs for isolation, brought the project to a natural stopping point for the lockdown, and then came back a few months later to complete the second stage. He installed airtight barriers inside the house and not a drop of dust (or shared air) entered our space for the entire period. This was a time which demanded the highest in trust and good faith, and even selflessness too, and Lebron scores 100 out of 100 here. It is now a year later and we can attest that the work looks like it was completed yesterday— not a drop of leakage, not a crack, nothing at all but light and beauty. In going with Casteleberry’s, you are hiring a master carpenter, not a slick business operation. Just know that, and go for it! We would do it again, and will the moment we have our next project lined up.
Description of Work: Opening back of kitchen with window, door, glass
We were so pleased with the great work we received from LeBron and Castleberry's Carpentry. LeBron was extremely hardworking, timely, and conscientious of our budget. He offered good suggestions and listened to what we had to say. LeBron is clearly a perfectionist and takes a lot of pride in giving his customers what they want. He was willing to "got the extra mile" to make sure our job was done right! Scheduling took a while because he is busy (like everyone in Seattle) but it was worth the wait. We will hire him to do additional work for us in the future.

Lebron is the most reliable contractor we have ever worked with. If he says he will be there, he will be there. If there is a problem, he will fix it. He cares deeply about the quality of his work, and will work his butt off to make things right. He is not as fast as some others, but that is because he wants to make sure it is done right. And his hourly rate is very reasonable, so we always felt the extra time it took was worth it. We worked with him on a complex, fully custom kitchen remodel in our 100+ year-old home over the course of a nearly 10 month project, so we got to know his work very well. Because of his flexible attitude and his attention to detail, we chose him over the other high-end full-service remodeling companies we met with. We wanted to do some of the work ourselves, and wanted to use particular contractors for certain parts of the project. Other contractors were not willing to be flexible in the same way Lebron was. He was always willing to help out with pieces of the project that were maybe not within his specialized skillset (and always did a great job), but also was honest with us when he felt it would be better to bring in someone else. (Or when it might be cheaper and easier for us to do something ourselves.) Additionally, as a woman who is very interested in the process of construction and is passionate about design...I often feel condescended to by many other male contractors. Sooo much man-splaining. But with Lebron it always felt like a respectful partnership. We would brainstorm together, and in the end always seemed to find even better solutions. We are so thrilled with our gorgeous new kitchen, and highly recommend Lebron for a broad scope of work. We plan to use him again for all of our (neverending) home projects. (I will post completed photos soon.)
Description of Work: Convert single window to triple, install 2 beams, framing, install stairs door, reframe entry door, install cabinets, finish carpentry
Advantages: cost Disadvantages: does not manage to the budget, no formal change order process, sloppy and incomplete work, does not listen to his client and doesn’t care how the job ends as long as he gets paid. I hired Castleberry because they seemed highly skilled and their bid promised quality work at a fair price. Neither one was achieved on my job. The master carpenter used my job as a training ground for his new apprentice. This was not communicated to me, and resulted in an extraordinary number of hours (over 400!) charged by both men for this relatively simple scope of work. When I brought this up at the end of the job I was threatened with legal action if I didn’t pay the bill in full. I reluctantly paid it, but at the same time was grateful to have them off the job. If that wasn’t enough, I caught the master carpenter vaping in my downstairs bathroom. He admitted to it and showed me his vape pen. I couldn’t believe it. The master carpenter was vaping while operating electric saws and a nail gun! He claimed to be vaping CBD for his sore shoulder. Then he got defensive and exclaimed “What’s your problem?” (Really? What's MY problem? You've got to be kidding me). In the end his explanation doesn’t make sense. If he was vaping CBD (and not THC) why would he be doing it in my bathroom and hiding it from me AND his own employee? At the end of the job I asked them to check all the trim to make sure it was properly installed/anchored because I’d found several pieces of door trim and base trim that were loose. Three weeks later I was STILL finding pieces of loose trim that were not anchored. I emailed and texted Castleberry multiple times about coming back to finish the scope of work for which he’d been paid in full. He only replied once to say he was too busy. That seems to be par for the course with this company. The work they performed for me does NOT meet the standard of care for finish carpentry. I can’t recommend them, and I wouldn’t hire them again if you paid me. You’ve been warned.

This client stole thousands of dollars from me and my business. refused to pay what he owed through dozens of excuses. His stated philosophy of never paying what is owed, was in full effect. It clearly states, **ALL WORK IS ESTIMATED. THE COST IS NOT FINAL UNTIL ALL WORK IS COMPLETE*** So if you add scope, that adds cost. Which was explained in great detail, and clearly stated in multiple places on my paperwork. This client simply stole money from me for work completed in the same manner as all of my projects, which you can clearly see the results of as you read more reviews. The work was top notch, there was nothing sloppy about it. I preformed miracles of carpentry in this mans basement. What was sloppy was the horrible poop brown color he painted all of the trim, his never ending interference, interruptions and his berating and demeaning my Apprentice, who is one of the best human beings to ever work for me, and ultimately quit due to this clients excessively rude and bad behavior. It was clear there was a problem as he would change his mind from one evening to the next morning. Telling me the work was the best he had ever seen one day, and complaining the next. One example of this behavior, was setting up to prepaint the trim, right next my saw station, where we would be creating large amounts of sawdust. a huge interruption and cost us many, many hours of lost time. He also was already painting IN ROOMS HE WANTED ME TO WORK, before we showed up at 7am sharp, every single day. It was explained how problematic this was and He was asked to stop doing this, but it was a constant problem to the very end on this project. as i explained to him in great detail, his house was very poorly framed in the basement, the sheetrock was in bad shape making quality trim install very time consuming, his exact words were, " do the best work you can, ive got the money". Which i most certainly did. In conclusion, this person stole money from me that i earned, with the sweat of my brow.
Excellent service, does one project at a time so there everyday which makes things finish quickly

I received an email response to a request to see if molding could be put on in my house. The email asked if I would be available on Saturday morning to see if the project would work for them. I emailed back that it would and asked for a specific time frame. Crickets. I left a voice mail message. Crickets. Saturday came and went without any contact from them. I'm thinking I can Youtube some videos on putting molding in and do the job myself.

Lebron went above and beyond in the installation our two new doors - front and side. Every detail was gone over with meticulous care. The doors swing and lock true, and the finish details are perfect. One of the doors were missing an overhang and was in a tight spot, so he added protective flashing and extended the threshold. He and his crew arrived on the appointed time, kept the work area clean, and kept to his original estimate even though it was expired and he had to do more custom work than originally thought. If you want to have a conversation about the finer points of door installation, he's more than happy to take the time to explain and draw from his experience. I recommend Castleberrys Carpentry to get your door installed right!

Castleberry was great to work with, he came to our house within a couple days of when we talked. We had a rough idea what we wanted but he really helped us choose the right doors and got custom glass to match our fence. The work he did is very clean and professional, he was is constant communication with us to let us know when the doors came in and when he was at our house while we were away at work. I would highly recommend

LeBron was meticulous about calking and calking each step of the way in installing the new third floor window. He was knowledgeable about how to do this work safely at the second and third floor heights, which I worried about. LeBron is a very experienced carpenter who knows what he is doing. You can be guaranteed a top quality job. Because he is good, he is busy; but he is worth waiting for. I was just glad that he squeezed me into his busy schedule. With LeBron Castleberry, you know the job will be done right. You cannot go wrong hiring LeBron for your home improvement project.

LeBron is an expert carpenter and great communicator. It was a challenging job which he was willing to take on despite having a busy summer work schedule. He fit me in for which I was very grateful. I had confidence that LeBron would do a great job, and he did. He does not cut corners. He simply does a top quality job. He charges labor + materials, and the cost was more than he projected. But I saw how hard his crew of three (including him) worked. LeBron provided me the quiet confidence that the job would be done right. Quality carpenters like LeBron are busy, but he is worth waiting for. He is honest and a very hard worker. You cannot go wrong hiring LeBron.

Thanks [Member Name Removed] fir your patience and understanding with my crazy schedule. So glad we could get that done for you.!
Lebron was fun to work with and the job was well done. He has tons of experience with beams. He charged me exactly what he estimated, despite some unexpected challenges due to my shallow and crowded crawlspace. Like all good contractors in Seattle right now, he is super busy, so he can be challenging to schedule. When he is on your job, he is on it 100%. I would hire him again for sure. The job was replace a load bearing wall with two beams and a door header. This required temporary walls and 3 new concrete footers in the crawlspace.

I was very pleased. Mr.Castleberry showed up early every morning and worked a full day; often late. He knows what he is doing. I know something about construction as does my neighbor and he got a thumbs up from all of us. He never tried to "sell" me on "more work" than was necessary. Every day the work area was cleaned up and he always asked before storing anything on the premises. He answered all my questions and explained what he was doing and why and the cause of the dry rot which was particularly helpful. I would highly recommend him. Although he did repair work for me, check out his website. He does railings, stairs, decks and doors. I highly recommend him.
LeBron arrived, exactly when promised, with his assistant, on short notice from me and replaced a small privacy end panel on my cedar fence. Several other contractors had quoted very high minimum charges just to do a small job. However, LeBron was different, in a very positive way. His whole approach to assessing the job and taking care of the customer—continually communicating with the customer, to make sure there are no surprises and that everyone is happy with the end result—immediately put me at ease. His work was quick, precise and the result was a high-quality repair job, at a surprisingly reasonable cost. A recent Seattle windstorm blew the neighbors’ fence down onto my property, which also tore out the end of my adjacent fence. The thought of dealing with these particular neighbors, or seeking damages for repairing a small section of my fence, would have been too unpleasant. I’m a senior, in poor health, so the last thing I needed was further aggravation from these neighbors (who have damaged my property on numerous occasions in the past). LeBron’s sense of humor, as well as his experience and sensitivity in dealing with difficult neighbor-neighbor situations, made everything go smoothly. I highly recommend Castleberry’s Carpentry.

The corner of our townhome was bumped and the corner siding piece popped out of place. Lebron responded very quickly to my email inquiry to fix it. I sent out inquiries to two other companies but one didn't respond and the other one told me they don't perform repair services. Since our home is located close to Lebron's office, he was able to stop by our house the next day and confirm work can be completed with a service call and finish the work the next day. Everything was coordinated over email and the repair was done without us having to be home.

The work was very high quality, LeBron worked with us to ensure that we were consulted on all of the options we had, including size of the porch, orientation, door type and size, what type of finishing (painting) would be required after the install. Overall, we were very happy with the final result. I don't have pictures myself right now (I'll look), but LeBron attached pictures of our job to the company profile -- our house is the blue house with the white sliding door and small porch.
Description of Work: Castleberry's installed a sliding door for us where there was previously a small window, and also built a small porch with stairs for access.
