After our basement flooded, our insurance company found a company to do the repair work. We got a second estimate from Ben who came in over $5,000 less than the company that our insurance company had chosen. It took a bit longer than it would have had we gone with the larger company, but the savings and personal touch were well worth the extra time. I was very busy at the time with a new baby and a 2 year old so there were days that I just asked Ben to use his best judgement on picking out material and I was never disappointed. The crown molding and chair rails that were added to the basement bedrooms look great and were not easy to put up as the house was built in 1925 so the lines aren't exactly straight. Ben did such a wonderful job on the basement that we hired him to build us a deck in the backyard. He did all the plans and permit work and determined that we would have much more room with a two-level deck. He was able to put in a compass rose design on the lower portion of the deck that makes a beautiful accent. He used PVC material for the flooring and similar toned wood for the rails. He also put in a new door from our house leading out to the deck. We were very happy with the final product! Finally, we had Ben install a space saving attic door. This was a project that we had planned to do ourselves but time got away from us and Ben did not charge a lot to get the job done in one day. Ben worked for us for 4 months. My 2 year old still asks about him. Ben is a perfectionist so his work is top notch and if we ever had any problems (our doors were sticking a bit as the work settled in the basement), he came back to fix them. I would certainly recommend B.T. Carpentry to anyone looking to support a small business.
