My post light wire was short. To rewire it, we have to put in a new electric line which involves lots of digging (it needs to go under the drive way). I called several eletrical companies and it is very expensive plus they don't provide digging the trench. And it is very expensive and I don't feel like it is worth it for just two post light and felt it is rediculous (one company quoted over $5000 for digging and re-wire). I called Quality landscape lighting and was hoping they could provide the digging service, so that I can call an electrician to re-wire it. It turned out there are an easier and cheaper solution - low voltage wire and lighting - which does not need to dig such a deep trench or dig under the drive way. We accepted the estimate/quote for installing the low voltage lighting and relamp the existing post light (even though I still feel it is expensive but much better than $5000). Joe scheduled a electrician to install a new outlet outside the garage; the next business day, his crew came in insalled the transformer and the timer, and dug a small shallow trench from the house, lifted up wood bar between the cement slab, the wire is put in and the lighting is re-wired. My front yard didn't even need to be dug and restored. They put the wire along the edge of the lawn. It all looks great now! Now we don't have a dark front yard anymore.
Description of Work: Provide low voltage to existing pillar lights and relamp

Robert provided a great deal of guidance and information during the bidding process, which was invaluable to me and set him apart from others bidding on the work. This was the first landscape lighting project I'd overseen for a client and I wanted the project to go smoothly and hopefully exceed the expectations of the owners and residents. Robert obtained several samples of beautiful light fixtures and explained the advantages and benefits of each type of finish, as well as the related pricing. I was able to offer this information and the samples to the owners at their annual meeting, enabling them to examine them and decide which fixtures suited the majority of the owners. Robert answered many questions and provided reassurances along the way. I was very, very impressed with his communications and immediate follow-up! His installation crew did a great job and worked with me and the owners to adjust the location of the individual lights in the system as they were being installed. The lighting is a source of pride for the owners and for me, as their property manager! Quality will be my first call for any other lighting projects I may have for my other clients, as well as service on the new system.
Description of Work: I used the services of Quality Estate Services to replace an existing landscape lighting system at a higher-end and beautifully landscaped condominium property I manage on Queen Anne in Seattle.

They were great. They came out and gave me a suggested plan, which I changed around a bit and eliminated some lights from. Very responsive, and they did me the favor of tunneling under some steps so the gardener could install sprinklers--no charge--and I know it ended up being a fair amount of work for them. Price was quite competitive.

They charged by the hour. It went fine, but I went back with my old tree trimming service. They were very honest and worked very well, but my usual service charges by the job and not the hour.
Description of Work: I think they did some tree trimming for us about five or six years ago.

I emailed 30 different companies from Angie's list. I got replies from less than half. I arranged visits from about 5-7 companies. The companies ranged from "just-tell-me-what-to-do" laborers, to landscape designers who design only then sub-contract someone to do the work. Quality Landscape Lighting (aka Quality Estate Services) is somewhere in the middle, in that the do the work themselves, but employ people with experience who can help with your design. Scott Lang, a project manager for the company, promptly responded to my email and later called to arrange a time to visit. He suggested taking me to a house in my neighborhood where he had previously done some similar work. When he arrived at the house, he looked over the space and my drawings of what I had in mind. He gave me some good suggestions, including offering to put in a drain at no extra cost. He was able to give me a per square foot bid on the spot. We walked to the house he'd worked on and I could see that the quality of work was high. I felt comfortable talking with Scott, much more so than the other 5 people who came to estimate the job. Within a couple of days of his visit, I called Scott and we made a verbal agreement to proceed. We set a date to begin the very next week. Within a few days Robert Hobart (owner?) sent me an official bid via email as PDF and informed me that we'd need to push the date back a bit. Scott later explained this was to ensure there was enough time to finish the job without going into the weekend, which was wise, as the job took nearly twice as long to complete as originally thought. Scott arrived on time with a couple of installers and they immediately fell to working. I was at home to take my dogs out for walks, since I didn't want them in the way of the crew. Scott took advantage of this to consult with me on details, which made me very happy. It ensured that things were done as close to what I wanted as possible. There were a couple of times when I heard a "expletive" or some such thing, and checked to see what had happened. The great thing was, anytime something didn't go right, Scott went out of his way to do whatever it took to correct it and make it perfect, even if it involved digging up and re-running some of the conduit, etc. The crew was just planned to be two after the delivery of materials, but one took sick, leaving Scott to do all of the work for a couple of days (hence the delay). Still, everything was done to perfection. With all of the work completed, I'm very happy. We used an 18" concrete architectural slab product and the cuts Scott made to fit to the deck columns and other features is amazingly precise and looks great. With the horror stories I've heard about hiring and getting work from contractors, I'm happy to have found Quality Estate Services, and lucky to have had Scott complete my project.

Excellent work. They were there when they said they'd be there, did what they said they'd do, cleaned up after the work and everything works as proposed. Ours was a fairly small job and while they were booked for several weeks on larger projects they were able to make time to meet our deadlines needs of just one week from proposal.
Description of Work: Robert's crew installed eight up-lights surrounding two 30' mature trees we have outside our apartment building. They ran the electrical wiring underground from the front of the building to the back and into our electrical meter room where they installed an electric timer.

Robert and crew did a great job installing the lights and burying the wires. The control box is mounted on the house next to the outdoor outlet and the timer is simple to use/program. Our backyard is lit and the garden looks beautiful at night. We are very happy with it.
Description of Work: Installed 11 outdoor copper path & grated well lights with timer in backyard patio & landscaped area, connecting up with existing outdoor outlet.
