Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning

In one word. AWFUL!!! I postponed the scheduled annual maintenance service appointment. Yet Brennan did the service and changed parts without my permission (our baby sitter opened the door for them) on September 3, 2019. The worse part of it, somehow the furnace didn't work on Sept. 28, 2019 when we first turned on the furnace after their service. We had to hire another company to fix the problem. Brenna Heating is very aggressive in constantly calling you to schedule the annual service. All Brennan Heating care about is their profit, they do not care about their customers!

Ductless systems are way more expensive than just replacing an old oil furnace, but I knew that going into it, I just wanted to see if it as reasonable to do a ductless system. I got three bids from ductless-only contractors, Brennan was way more expensive and would not remove the old furnace due to asbestos concerns. Other did not seem to be concerned since there was no asbestos on the ducts or the firebox. Since the install was going to prompt a new electrical panel all contractors were told to bid that as a part of the process. I have no reason to believe that they would not do a great job, they were just expensive. Ryan was prompt and professional, and the bid was on time and professional.

It was excellent, they were so nice, they were very professional, very good company from management all the way down to the workers. They cleaned up after themselves, they communicate with us everyday, they were very sweet and i would go to this guys a million times if I have to.

I’m frustrated with Brennan having coupons then refusing to honor for our system. The “more intense” radiant analysis involved their guy holding his hand to pipes to see which ones were hot. Somehow this makes it $100+ more expensive? And it doesn’t say radiant isn’t allowed for the coupon, anyway. We’ve been customers for 6 years despite average service in past because of limited options. Will be looking for someone else for future work

My water heater stopped working at 6PM on a Saturday evening when I had 10 guests staying over. I called multiple companies with less than helpful responses. However, James from Brennan company called me back within 15 minutes. He talked to me about the problem, accepted pictures I texted him and was very professional and friendly and worked on getting me a technician. Andrew, the technician, was impressive and prompt, very quickly identified the problem. He did not have the part, but reassured me that he would check on it on Monday morning and, if he can get it, he will fix the problem. He called me promptly at 9:05AM on Monday and ordered the part for me and got it fixed quickly within 48 hrs. Exceptionally outstanding service. The emergency call, labor, expedited shipping and the part cost me $1100, but it was worth every penny. I would absolutely use them again.

Worked with Merceds to schedule the appointment. Tyler and Kalib arrived on schedule. They replaced 10 electrical outlets and left everything clean.

The technician (Thomas) arrived on time, and during his 2 and 1/2 hour visit, checked the condition and functionality of the furnace and heat pump and drained and flushed the hot water tank. He was very thorough and professional, letting us know what he was doing (and why) each step of the way. And he made sure that he could apply the 10% Angie's List discount. We will definitely request him next year.

As always, a great job. I appreciated the pre-appointment phone call to advise of the impending arrival of the technician who was a few minutes early. He worked quickly, quietly and with no mess. He was cordial and answered all questions. Brennan installed the furnace some years ago, and has done all the service since then. I could have paid a bit less for someone else to do the job (with some of the advertised specials of other companies at the time, but I prefer to go with a known entity.

Our initial conversations and periodically throughout the process were with Russ Eagle, who was the person giving us our estimate and answering some of our questions, but had nothing to do with the actual installation. He was a pleasure to work with and bent over backwards to help us. This is where the smoothness ended. The initial installation failed inspection for multiple reasons and delayed startup in this summer's peak temperatures. A leak dropped the pressure in the line to zero and gave our basement a funny smell for 24 hours (told this was not harmful to us). The floor of our laundry room where the AC was connected to the furnace was stained with bright purple liquid droplets. We were not home at the time of installation so we used a lockbox to give them access to a key. When we got home the front door was left unlocked and the side gate of our enclosed yard (we have two dogs) was left open. Due to how inspections happen, a technician has to be rescheduled once you pass, so we were not able to use our AC for about a week after passing inspection. This may be the same for other companies, I really don't know, but this delay was frustrating after already being delayed due to a failed inspection. Overall the process was not an enjoyable one. We did end up with a nice quiet unit and have had no further problems since the original issues were addressed. If it were not for Russ Eagle our ratings would have been lower.

Firas from Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning performed annual inspection and service on our furnace and air conditioning this past weekend. This is especially important as the house has sold, and we want to ensure we are handing over an optimized system (and house) to the new owners. Firas did an excellent job. Everything was taken apart, inspected, and cleaned. The thermostat was calibrated, and all the vents / floor & ceiling registered were inspected. Additionally, our interaction with Brennan from the word go was excellent. Responsive, flexible scheduling, and great pricing structure (especially for Angie’s List members - AL members, be sure to call through the number listed on the AL website so you get that discount). We have moved to the Kitsap Peninsula and see that we may in Brennan’s service area here. If so, we will definitely engage them. We are very pleased and highly recommend.

They were extremely helpful and on time. They came out to give us an estimate within2 days of our request. They were not pushy at all. Once we decided to use them they came out within 4 days and were on time. Finished the install within 5 hours and totally clean up as if no one had been there. Some of the most outstanding service we have had. Great job!

Very professional and comprehensive service.

Paul was right on time. Agreed to my diagnosis that the recirculation pump was the culprit. He checked and had a replacement in his van. He swapped it very quickly and easily. He also noticed one of the 2 heat expansion tanks is full of water and is causing hot water to **** out through the overflow. So he said that need to be ordered and replaced as he did not have one in his van, and would cost $225. He would have to order it and come back another day to install it. I agreed to that. When he told me the amount of the total bill, which was $1048, I was quite shocked. I have replaced a water pump in my RV, and i know this pump is more suited for high pressure and high temperature, still, the high price took me by surprise. Paul told me that also include the order and installation of the expansion tank. So I agreed to the bill and paid it with my credit card. He said I'll get the receipt via email. An hour later, I got the email that included the work order. It had the parts described along with part number. I went online to search for the recirculation pump and the expansion tank. To my surprise, I found them both available on Amazon. The recirculation pump is $83 on Amazon and Brennan charged me $498. The expansion tank is $67 on Amazon and Brennan charged me $225. No where on the work order included the installation of the tank. So I'm assuming there'll be another charge for the installation when Paul returns. I've left them voice mail and sent them emails. So far, no response. This has left a very sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully this will keep others from being gouged. I'll update the review if anything changed.

Great crews (both mechanical and electrical). Prompt arrival and on-task for the whole project. We identified a few things that we wanted addressed after the mechanical crew left and the follow-up visit was prompt and the changes were made quickly. We've used Brennan in the past and we'll use them again.

Terrible!! I had my appointment arranged for one month. The window on the day of the appointment was from 9 to 12 in the morning. At 12, I called because no one arrived or called yet, it turns out that the tech was out that day and NO ONE was rescheduled to take over his workload. The company NEVER called me to reschedule. If I had not called them, I would have been waiting on them all day. So they apologized profusely and rescheduled me for the following week. Meanwhile, I was fuming!!! What a waste of my time! So I made an appointment with another company and called Brennan to cancel my rescheduled appointment. They DID NOT have my rescheduled appointment in their records!! What a bunch of idiots!! I will never call them again bor will I ever give them anything but the worst recommendation. They obviously don't value their customers.

I was impressed with the professionalism by Solomon Stewart in dealing with me via multiple emails. I had signed up to be contacted by someone via the Costco kiosk services and Solomon reached out to me within the 2 day window that Costco said they would. He sent me emails asking questions about measurements, and wanted pictures of my existing tank, location, connections and gas line etc. I took various pictures & sent them back. he emailed me a bid, and included a 40 gal/6 yr warranty, a 50 gal/6 yr warranty & a 50 gal/10 yr warranty, since those were the sizes I was interested in. I agreed to purchase a 50-gallon tank with the 6 yr. warranty to replace my 23 yr. old 40-gallon tank. The bid also included a free expansion tank (a special deal for Sept), connection of the overflow drain line and installation of a new T&P valve. I've priced other companies through several avenues and felt the tank Brennan was providing was a better deal overall than some of the others. The tank I received was a A.O. Smith, series 400, (Pro-line) commercial-grade water heater (which is the brand of the tank I was replacing) and I hope that my new one lasts at least 20 years before it needs to be replaced again! My installation was set up for a Friday, and at 2am the day before my scheduled installation, the old tank failed and was leaking in my garage, I sent an email to Solomon and asked him to call me when he received my email - about 8:45am, he called and I told him about my leaking tank and asked if there was any way possible to fit me in that day instead of the following day. He assured me after checking with one of the installation tech's, that they could fit me early afternoon that day. I was extremely grateful for that - since my water was still leaking. I wasn't sure if I should have turned off the water going into the tank or not since it was a gas appliance and we still needed to be able to use water in the house. I wasn't home when the installer arrived, but my 19 yr old son was. He said the installer went right to work and was able to remove and install the new tank easily. I believe he was done within 2 hours - might have actually taken 90 minutes. Everything was cleaned up when I got home. The new tank looks great and I love that I have hot water really quickly when I turn on the hot water tap. I highly recommend Brennan Heating & A/C to anyone needing to replace their hot water tank.

Crazy emails back and forth. When challenged and shown exact price of hot water heater online and that their labor charge was 3,000-4,000 in their quotes they actually stood by it. Incredible. Am contacting Costco to complain and have then removed as Costco preferred vendor. Found them in the Costco warehouse. They wanted 5,000-6,000 to install a hot water heater! The actual hot water heater was 1,500 online. Unbelievable. They gave me 3 quotes between 5,000 and 6,000.

They did an excellent job and had a good discount. They are very professional and do their job well. I would highly recommend them and I would use them again.

Not a reasonable experience. I call for emergency leaks indoors of a system Brennan had installed a few years earlier. A Trane heat pump A/c system. They were not sympathetic and said someone could come out after the weekend (I call on a Thursday). Ok. I contain the water and bought a portable A/c to cool the house until it was convenient for them. To shorten the story it took them 3 visits (one to "jerry rig" a hand made collector inside the duct work) ....to finally look at the factory parts list and tell me THE ORIGINAL BRENNAN INSTALLERS neglected to install some parts....which was causing the leak all along. This after I had already paid hundreds for the first service calls. Now I am getting "marketing" calls that my system should have maintenance. No way. I will contact another company from Angie.s List with good ratings. I would not recommend these people to anyone.

I got lucky and was able to schedule a next-day diagnostic appointment during a heat wave (because another customer canceled just before I called). So that was random, but I got service the next day when other companies were scheduling 3-5 weeks out. Although my AC unit was installed in 1992 and had very low refrigerant and a faulty logic chip in the condenser, Brennan Heating and AC diagnosed the problems and got it running again. I was elated to have a cool house this weekend while it was 90 degrees outside. The technician recommended that if I need further repairs, for whatever reason, if it adds up to $500 or more, I am better off putting that money toward a new system. That seemed like solid advice and I will keep that in mind. Ultimately, the unit was running again after the tech tapped the faulty logic chip a few times, and then he added 1lb of refrigerant (at $120/lb) to make it more efficient. A replacement chip turned out to be $480 (quoted a few days later), so I declined on the basis of the aforementioned advice. I will contact them for a quote when I inevitably need to replace this old unit.

A month ago I rated Brennan a D for not working with me on estimates. I don't know how to edit a review or but wanted folks to know that they saw the comments and did the right thing. An estimator came out and will be giving us details on new items and how to move existing ones. Thanks!
