Brennan came back out today and made it right! I appreciate the communication from the technician and the very detailed work order. Thank you Brennan. I defiantly give them an A rating across the board.
Description of Work: Had them perform a general service on my furnace and A/C unit that they installed the previous year. All the tech did for $200 dollars was vacuum out the furnace and check the freon charge. The cap was even left off the A/C freon outlet and it appears that the A/C fins were not even cleaned.

We called Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning because of their great reviews. Unfortunately our experience with the company was not good. Our air conditioning was working downstairs, but even though the system seemed to be working fine, it wasn?t blowing through the upstairs vents. Brennan sent a technician out 3 times. Even though we said we had recently had the ducts cleaned and that we thought it might be a problem with a damper or the ducts, the tech insisted that could not be the problem and refused to look. He was very nice, professional, and eager to help, but unable to diagnose the problem. He said he would discuss it with his boss and have him get back to us, but we never heard from them again. Fortunately we called a second company. When the technician from the second company arrived and we explained what was happening, he immediately said ?It sounds like a problem in the ductwork, I need to get into the crawl space.? When we opened the crawl space access, there was a duct right at the opening that was split apart. He also found a damper that was broken, and additional places that the ducts were separated (they were installed badly using LOTS of dried out duct tape). So, instead of cooling our upstairs, all of the cold air was going into the crawl space. They did a great job of repairing/replacing the damper and ductwork, and the system works better than ever now! Sadly, by calling Brennan first, we wasted the cost of a service call. Unfortunately for them, by being unable to diagnose the problem, Brennan lost what turned out to be a very expensive repair job.

We’re sorry to hear you felt that you had a negative experience with Brennan Heating & A/C. After discussing this matter with our Service Technician, it was his understanding that after he came out 2 times and then spent almost an hour troubleshooting with you and your husband over the phone that you were going to check with the original company who did your original install and/or the duct cleaning company. You were to call us back if you were interested in proceeding with the time & material repair through Brennan. I do want to apologize as we could have been more diligent in following up with you on the status of your situation. Should you care to discuss this matter any further please feel free to contact our Service Manager Aaron Dubuque.

I bought a $68 big deal for this service and it was fine. They came in the morning and were here about an hour. We called them and they came out the next day or the following day. We needed new Freon and that was not included in the big deal price so we had to give him an additional sum of money for the Freon, which he told us upfront that we would probably have to do if we needed it. The only negative thing I can say, and I don't think it was his fault, is that the air conditioner makes a much louder noise than it used to, although it is working just fine. I thought that sound was new; my husband says we always have had it. I think it sounds like an airplane on the runway starting up; it is very, very noisy. They were prompt about showing up. I would recommend them. He answered all of our questions. If we had to call somebody I would call them again. For coming out and doing what they did I think it was well worth the price. I don't think they would overpriced us.
Description of Work: We wanted them to service our air conditioner. He came out to add some more Freon and service it.

Showed up on time as scheduled and went right to work on heat pump unit. Noticed a bad part that looked bad as soon as he opened it and replaced it. Before moving on to any step he explained what it was, what it would cost to replace and if it was a necessary "now" fix or something that could be differed. Turned out to be a electrical part and low on R22, suggested I had a leak somewhere in the unit and explained I could pay additional money for them to place a fluid in that would indicate where the leak was but it was another $200, since I have been living here for over 6 years I thought I would differ that unless needed again. A little pricey and no discounts, but this is my second service with them and very pleased on the first one and so far all is well on the second. I would recommend again and will call them back as needed.
Description of Work: Came out to check on my heat pump because during the excessive heat we have had this summer our heat pump did not seem effective during the day but worked well at night.

We finally decided it was time to install air conditioning in our house in Seattle, and contacted Brennan for an estimate. They arrived on schedule and gave us detailed information about the options that would work for our home, which is older and has some tricky issues. We also got estimates from other well-known contractors, and Brennan offered the best price for the selected system and got us scheduled sooner than anybody else by about 3 weeks. They also were very helpful in arranging financing for this (for us) big-ticket item. On the day of the installation, the crew arrived on time and were ready to work. They finished earlier than expected, and the system is working perfectly. The crew was professional and friendly, and left the site clean. We're very happy with the whole experience, would definitely hire Brennan again, and highly recommend them.

Tech was very helpful and stated he would have an estimate on new units within a couple days. It took a little longer than that but he was apologetic. With the heat wave in the area and workload he fell behind. I have used them in the past and in fact installed a new furnace in my previous home and I have used them numerous times to clean my furnace.

Mr. called into the office last week for an update on his proposal. Our service depart conveyed this message to the technician, Drew, to work on this. Drew finished the proposal and left Mr. Wilkinson a message to setup a time to review it on site because there are a few documents including vouchers that are understood better in person. We made the mistake of not attempting to also reach him via email. As of today he now has the information needed to make an informed decision on his investment. If there are any delays in the future please give us a call and we will make sure it is rectified. Robert Miller Brennan Heating & A/C (425)248-7900.

I have no complaints about it. They found everything in working order, therefore didn't try to charge me for anything. That's about the cheapest I paid for a furnace inspection. I'm moving this coming week. I'm not sure who I would use. If I remember right, they're a little bit faraway. I believe they have a 206 area code. It probably wouldn't be convenient to call them again. If I have a problem with the furnace, I've always called the company that installed it, they know better than anyone else.

I contacted Brennan to have them provide a quote for a 50 gallon gas water heater replacement and I had someone reply (the very next day) to my request stating, "I will have one of our install staff give you a call as soon as possible to provide you with options on replacing your hot water tank and schedule your installation. Thank you" ... but no one has contacted me as of 9 days later. Even if you're too busy for my silly little job, communication should be on top of your priority list. I will move on to the next Angie's List provider.

I got central air conditioning for the first time ever in this house just one week before an historic heat wave, so I'm certainly happy about that. Of course, shopping and getting bids started months previously. The good: Salesman seemed thorough, certainly friendly. Returned my calls with follow-on questions, and patiently answered questions until I was comfortable. They promised the unit was quiet and oh my it's quiet. I got an XP25 and the outdoor unit right under my kids' window makes a faint hum if you care to listen for it. Nothing that keeps my 6 month old from sleeping. Installation was professional. They also had one guy call in sick that day, so the regional supervisor, who should have been going around to all their job sites, worked on my installation. He was quite professional and obviously very experienced, and I appreciate that they stuck to their promised installation schedule since I was about to need that A/C very badly for the next several weeks. A final step required a bit of drywall (plaster, actually) work to get the thermostat wires to fit. They were very careful about controlling the dust from this operation. The bad: I have done a lot of work on my home, both personally and through contractors. I was home during the installation and watching everything, in part because I'm interested in what is being done to my home. Electrical required a lot of holes, more or less randomly poked into a joist. At one point, the workers stepped out, so I got up on a ladder to have a look. When they returned, it was with a snide remark that clearly implied that my help and involvement were not welcome. In my home. With them drilling the heck out of anything in their way. I'm reviewing them over a month later and still irked by that. Brennan is really good at advertising. I had a prior service done in which they stuck a Brennan sticker literally over the top of the sticker that was there from a prior servicer, so I couldn't even see who it was who had provided a service several years ago. Again this time with the stickers, but worse. On the furnace, on the duct work, and on the electrical panel. I can't even get these stupid things off without leaving paper stuck behind. The advertising in my own home actually p***** me off. I've thought several times about asking them to come provide "warranty" service to remove their stupid defacement from my home. They left a small gap in the sealant cement where they cut through for the refrigeration lines. I caught it because I was nosing around. At first they pushed back, saying I probably didn't see what I thought I had seen, but when they checked, indeed there was a gap that required more sealant. Not sure I should have to advocate for myself; I shouldn't have to be home for the installation (and I think they might have been happy if I hadn't been). Lastly, things ran a little behind schedule and there was a game that night that one or more of them wanted to get to, so the cooling and heating tests were cut a little short so they could race out of there. ...Leaving me to sweep up the sheet metal screws and other bits of stuff left on the floor of my utility room and laundry room where the electrical box is. Other items of note: Rebates knowledge: There are several rebates from utilities, and I am not eligible for any of them. I would have been if we had gotten a 95% efficient furnace. We got an 80% efficient furnace because it was recommended. I might have bought the better unit, taking the utility rebate into account, had I known. It seems like a good idea for the sales guy to know all rebates available, both for me to get better equipment and him to get a bigger sale on someone else's kickback. I wish he had advised me on this. Sizing should include asking about factors other than house size and duct work. The A/C lost ground pretty badly when we were cooking in the kitchen (two ovens and two gas burners going). It's understandable, but I would have considered a larger unit had I known that cooking throws off the sizing so badly. We cook a lot, and part of the reason for getting the unit was so that we could cook even when it is hot out. Net-net, I'm satisfied, but the price was gold plated for a gold-plated heat pump unit and "pretty good" installation service.

Brennan installers arrived on time and did a good job on the installation of the new furnace and the removal of the old unit. The special offered on Angie's List was a fair price for the furnace and we were able to have it installed within one week. I previously used Brennan to service our air conditioning unit and they did a good job on that service call. I would recommend them for any air conditioning or heating needs.

Provided estimates for Lennox heat pumps. The $5300 I noted in the "approximate cost of service" box was after rebate (!), and was for a single head, split ductless heat pump, Lennox model MS8-??OH-??18P1A. This quote was approx $2000 MORE than any other bid (for Mitsubishi, and Daiken - which are better rated). If the quote was accurate, people are being gouged right-and-left by this company.

We have hundreds of competitors in our market place. All of our consultants work off the same price book so we can always be consistent in our proposals. If by chance you had 2 of the lower priced companies come to your house there is nothing I can do about that. We are one of if not the largest company in our industry and every customer we bid gets at least 2 other bids. Our prices are competitive within the our industry or we would not be in business or the size that we are. We never promise to be the cheapest because the services we provide and the excellent experience our customers have when using our company. We have not won all the awards in our industry by chance, there are reasons for our success. Thanks for allowing us to come to your house to provide a proposal in the first place and good luck with your project.

Really pretty poorly: Good: 1. They showed up and installed the heat pump in one day. They were the lowest bidder of three estimates we got by about $500. Bad: 1. I have a Nest thermostat. I explicitly worked out with the sales guy that they would pull additional wires to the thermostat required for the new heat pump (cooling wires W1 and W2). THEY DID NOT and the Nest did not fully work (never went into "cool/heat 2 mode"). We needed to scheduled another appointment to get that done. When they did that work to actually pull the wires per written on the bid, they put A HOLE IN THE WALL on the backside of the thermostat. The nice man -- who did not speak English well -- tried to 'fix' the hole with old paint we had, but it DID NOT MATCH. We were given no compensation. To this day we still have an ugly mismatched color stain on our bathroom wall. 2. They BURNED OUT the fan contact on the Nest's thermostat base. I had them come back two times to try to fix the issue but they couldn't figure out when the nest keep saying 'fan wire disconnected'; thankfully Nest support was able to send me a new thermostat base for ~$1, that fixed the issue. We were given no compensation. But -- to be fair -- by this time I have given up on them and didn't want to work with them anymore, so I didn't push the issue. But it was fairly clear they either initially mis-wired the Nest and powered it on, or did the installation with the power on, causing this thermostat base damage. 3. They HID the fact they DID NOT HOOK UP THE PREEXISTING FRESH AIR plenum value. Imagine my disgust when I checked their work and found out that they added a new wire from the fresh air plenum valve, routed it into the furnace and neatly tied up the wires in an UNCONNECTED bundle. I told them I wanted a new digital fresh air value that mates with our new furnace (they trashed the old one when they hauled away the old furnace). They give me a 'discount' on it and installed it, but still caused me to pay ~$200 even though the bid was for a complete 1-to-1 furnace replacement (their installer told us that 'You don't need the fresh air value anymore as Code has changed' -- which from what I could tell was complete b*******). 4. The Lennox 2-stage heat pump fun they put in vibrates and rattles its grill on low speed. When I ask them to come out and fix it, they didn't try to repro the problem. When I showed them they said something to the effect of 'we don't want to mess with the wights on the fan blades -- that can just make the vibration worse.' it still vibrates today and I'm going to call another contractor to re-balance the fan. 5. Even though the contact said they we would pay 1/2 down: ~$7,500 and the 2nd half upon completion. They went ahead and CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD THE 2ND $7,500 WITHOUT PERMISSION BEFORE INSTALLATION. Thankfully my credit card limit could handle the charge. When we complained they essentially said 'Oops' and reversed the changes until we okayed them. I was very unhappy that they had held on to our credit card number and could change us 'out of the blue' like this. Six months later we bought a new investment property and also installed a new furnace and heat pump, and it also had a Nest thermostat that needed additional new wires run. I found that M & M COMFORT SYSTEMS in Redmond gave us a MUCH better price (with a nice Costco 10% off), and did a GREAT job with NO ISSUES. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Replaced furnace with two-stage version and added a two-stage heat pump to house that previously only had a single-stage furnace. Ran additional wires to thermostat necessary for the new heat pump functions (i.e. air conditioning).
