 + -1 moreThey were prompt and he communicated well. I thought it was done very quickly. He just inspected our vents and said that they were clean and we didn?t need to change the filter. It really lasted maybe 15 minutes. I didn't think he checked them thoroughly. I thought there would be more extensive searching but there wasn?t, so we probably wouldn?t be calling them again.

 + 1 moreKevin came out to give me a quote on a tankless water heater. He was so helpful explaining all the differences between tank and tankless and different tankless models. I was considering a tankless because the space (attic) is so difficult to access but after Kevin told me I could set up a water alarm to notify me about any leaks, I decided to do a tank. I felt like he was honest and didn't try to oversell me and knew the different features of each brand. Other companies charged me a fee for an extra person and fee for the difficult to access space, but Brennan did neither. And in fact they sent three guys! And I got a handwritten note the day after the visit and a phone call the day after install which I thought was particularly nice. Install went well. 2 hours, maybe? Guys were polite, kept my space clean, and navigated my tiny city street like pros. 100% would recommend again!

 + -1 more12/16/2015 Brennan Heating replies: "We will be issuing you a refund check for the $159 you spent on Angie's List. You should be receiving a check for that amount in the next week or so. " as of 1/29/2016 I have not heard a word or received any kind of refund.
Description of Work: Our furnace just stopped working. Decided to contact Brennan about which coupon to buy on Angie's list. Here is their response "We have a $99 service call to diagnose and repair a particular issue (plus cost of additional parts and labor if necessary), and we have a $159 general maintenance with 20-point check to clean and check your furnace for any potential problems." So I purchased the $159 coupon. When the technician came out, he would not take the coupon but instead charged me an additional $99. He said the reason the furnace did not turn on was because the power was out even though there was a light on in a box attached to it. The technician continued to probe and a spark exploded out across the room. He then asked the age of the furnace and said the furnace needs to be replaced. He promptly left saying they will be getting back to me with an estimate for a new furnace and an estimate to fix the old furnace. Needless to say I have not heard back for over 2 months now. | |I have since had Washington Energy Services come in and they fixed the furnace and said it was a loose wire. | |I now still have the $159 Angie's List coupon but I refuse to have this company back. What a waste of money and this was my first purchase from Angie's List....never again, just lost my business.

 + -1 moreWent great. Matt was really easy to work with for the quote, the price was right, and he didn't try to push unnecessary items, while still providing good options. Installation day was great. The team showed up two minutes into their 90 minute window (8:02 in an "8:00 to 9:30" window). They did a very nice job, were courteous, and were done ahead of schedule. Great service all around - can't ask for more than that. We'll definitely be using Brennan again in the future!

 + 0 moreWe purchased our furnace from Brennan in Nov. 2003 and have always used them for service and repair. We have a recuring problem with the drain line in the furnace getting plugged. This leads to the furnace not being able to start. It happened again so I phoned the office at 8AM Monday 12/7 to see about getting it fixed. I explained that I knew what was wrong and had shut down the furnace to prevent damage. I was told that Friday (12/11) afternoon was the soonest someone could come out. I restated that I didn't have any heat and was told I could call in after 5PM for an emergency service call but that it would be quite a bit more costly. I asked if there were any other options and was told that I might try replacing the battery in the thermostat or change out the furnace filter ...? I asked if it was OK to go ahead and run the furnace and he said he didn't think it would hurt it. I went ahead and took the Friday appointment, got on Angie's List, and found a company that came out the same day. When the service tech started the furnace and heard the noises it was making, he said it was a good thing I had shut it down as it could have caused a lot of damage.

 + 0 moreThis was the third repair visit since October on a new heat pump unit that was installed in April, It quit entirely in November and we waited 1+ weeks for service. They never call to schedule any appointments when parts arrive. Never check to see how things are going. Act completely surprised when we call to ask for an update. Technicans seem to do a good job but there does not seem to be much communication between the customer service department and the technicans. I am very unhappy with how this has been handled and the complete lack of communication from them.
Description of Work: Replaced heat pump unit that was only installed 7 months before from Costco. Needed additional parts for the 2nd unit and to complete work on the outside compressor unit.

Description of Work: Bought deal for can lights, after consultation, decided it would be impractical to install on vaulted ceiling with minimal clearance for can lights. Applied deal towards installing new chandelier and new ceiling fan in brand new openings on vaulted ceiling. Also installed 2 new switches for the fixtures.

 + -1 moreThey were unable to find the needed part. They initially came out with a part that did not fit and it had to be returned. I'm not even sure if we finally got credit for it. We asked them for a quote for a new furnace, which they did do, but we went with another provider. To be fair, our furnace was old and no longer manufactured and getting it fixed would have been very difficult, but I felt they were not up to the job. We had to call back several times to see if any progress was being made. I think they were out of their league on this one.

Description of Work: HVAC Technician cleaned several air handler and outdoor unit parts. Checked refrigerant pressures. Checked current draw on outdoor unit and auxiliary heat strips. Most important was setting the fan control dip switches to allow for a higher air flow. This was critical for increased performance.

Upon completion of service, payment was requested. After explaining the work was prepaid through Angie's List, I was charged SALES TAX (which I paid). We called Brennan, and were informed it is standard policy to tack on sales tax on this type of prepaid service. After careful review of the Angie's List coupon, the fine print was mute on the inclusion of sales tax for this service. BUYER BEWARE.

 + 1 moreThe person who came to do the tune up did a nice job. I knew I would need a new water heater soon and that the furnace was nearing the end of its life as well, from the inspection report on the home. I decided to go ahead and get both. They did not offer the Angie's list deal that was currently available (I am not sure if it would have covered the furnace I bought anyway) but they did give me a sizeable discount and they didn't charge extra for the tune-up but wrote off the cost of that visit. The work was done reasonably fast, and they were accommodating of my busy schedule. They were professional and friendly. I can't say for sure if the price was exceptionally good because I did not actually get other bids, but at least it did feel worth the price, and I appreciated the fact that they did give some discounts, and the experience of doing business with them was pleasant. They were not pushy or difficult in any way. I would recommend them.

As he did the regular furnace maintenance (cleaning burners, cleaning flame sensor, clearing a blockage in pressure port, etc.-I'm reading from his notes), it turned out that a part had begun to fail and needed to be replaced. He explained it and showed me the old part, which clearly was past its prime. I looked up the cost of the part online, and he didn't charge much more than what I could find it for online. I think most people are very willing to pay a little more for the convenience of them having the part in their truck enabling them to just complete a needed swapout right there; I count myself among those people. Everything was very reasonably priced. Although my furnace is 12 years old, Russ did not pressure me to buy a new one yet, and I appreciated that. Clearly, it's on my radar to replace my furnace eventually, but I want to use the one I have so long as it works well. I hope to get another winter or two out of it. This was a very good experience and a good value for the money. I'm pleased and will hang on to their contact information for future needs.

 + 0 moreTwo gentlemen arrived on time as promised with a new water heater. They drained the old heater, removed it and installed the new one in two hours. It was not necessary to turn the water to the house off. The technician showed my husband how to set the temperature (it was deemed too hot as previously set). He also showed him how to do the yearly maintenance drainage (a bucket, turn the appropriate toggle and let run a few seconds). We were very pleased with the service.
Description of Work: Contact made because our hot water heater had been making very loud noises - banging, thumping. Agent with whom I spoke was able to figure out by the model number that the heater was original to the house - 2003 - over 12 years old and near the end of its useful life. We arranged cost, including Angie's discount, and a date for service.
