It was great. We went through Costco for pricing, which ended up being a sweet deal with rebates. Brennen took care of everything from consulting with us on different choices and the benefits of those choices, the permit, and payment to Costco. We will definitely call on them again if in the market for their services. All the guys throughout the process were very professional and fun. They know their stuff!

The guy that came out and sold us our furnace caught us at a bad time the furnace went out and we had to leave two days later so he had to do it quickly. A $3000 furnace would have been appropriate for our house he sold us a $6000 furnace. Their service work is excellent and the fact that the salesman came out I was not pleased with that and sold us something that was an excess of what we needed.

Brennan came to service my old gas heater. They were honest with me about the heater, that it is not going to last forever, but they did not try to sell me another heater, they said that it should be ok for a couple more years. They even said the filter did not need to be replaced. It has become so common that companies try to up sell everything, when they did not try to sell me anything; they came they were polite and professional, Brennan will have my business in the future. Highly recommend!!

Great!. The salesman presented our options and pricing. He set up the installation date for our convenience. The installers were prompt. They installed the furnace in a timely manner and hauled away the old furnace. They were careful when entering our home to not track in debris on their shoes. The company contacted the county to obtain the necessary permits. All we had to do was schedule the final inspection.

The Black Lion personnel estimated and installed the equipment on time and within our budget. I let the filter get too dirty before changing and they came out and diagnosed the problem without charge. The technician advised me on where to get filters and how often to change them. We are very satisified. The new furnace and air conditioner is much quieter than our old unit. The air conditioner was a great help to a comfortable summer.

Well we had problems with the water heater temperature got really hot and then it stop heating entirely so we had a service call, the service call is like an hundred and thirty dollars and he said that the replacement part for the heating element is going to be in the several hundreds of dollars so we decided to get a new one instead because we had a ten year old water heater so it was going need to be replaced fairly soon and that was the third of the cost for repair so they came out within the same week and they were very professional, we were happy with the service.

An overall fantastic experience! The estimator was professional, flexible and accurate. And the installation team prompt, efficient and thorough. Over a 2 day install of a new furnace, heat pump, and zoned system, even when confronted by unexpected obstacles left by the original builder - the technicians provided solid timely and high quality work while maintaining an exemplary attitude and demeanor. Now, my house maintains the perfect indoor climate, both upstairs and downstairs, regardless of what it's doing outside - and the project came in on time and on budget. And the system's efficiency dropped my utility bills a bit as well! Would MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND Brennan for any HVAC needs.

Our heat pump and cooling system was acting funny so we called Brennan who had been out to help us before (they were the original installers of the heat pump and furnace before we bought the house). Those previous visits were great, which made what happened during this last experience all the more bewildering. The first tech that came out charged us about $250 to do nothing except tell us we needed to change the filter more often and he left the blower running constantly. He failed to notice the coil was frozen and shortly after he left the area apparently flooded and ruined the electrical panel on the furnace/airhandler (this being located in our crawlspace). After 2 more technicians came out (which took about a month and half) each time confusing the situation even further, it was recommended that we scrap the entire furnace/airhandler and relocate everything to the attic. This would cost a lot but the last tech was so certain this would be the best option for us. It all seemed so strange since the first technician said he found nothing wrong except a dirty filter. It also seemed strange that every tech from Brennan seemed put out by having to go into crawl space. So at this point we thought it was crazy but we let a sales guy from Brennan come out to give us a bid on relocating the entire system to the attic. For some strange reason he was unable to give us a bid that day and in fact never called us back with that final bid. It has been weeks, and no one from Brennan has followed up with us. So, we just turned to another company who handled the situation quickly with the kind of professionalism we thought we could expect from Brennan. We now have a working heat pump, furnace and airhandler by just replacing the electrical panel and airhandler (ruined by the flooding which Brennan could have helped us avoid), without having to relocate a thing. We will be giving that company an A and will call them for all our future business.
Description of Work: Our heat pump was making strange sounds and the cooling system was not working. We needed to get it fixed before the summer heat.

Response from Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning
We appreciate your feedback concerning the service you received from Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning. Due to the location of the furnace and our original diagnosis of a VERY dirty filter, there was no need to examine the coil down in the crawl space since the system was then firing off like normal. We did add a few ounces of refrigerant to balance out the outdoor system since that was your original complaint. When we were called back out due to the fan constantly running that is when we discovered the iced over coil. Normal procedure states to turn off the unit to allow time for the coil to thaw out. Matt also found that the heat strips on the air handler needed to be replaced. The [Member Information Removed] visit was scheduled the very next day and the date 7 days later was chosen by the [Member Information Removed] because that was the only day they were available per our notes. During the [Member Information Removed] visit, our technician went in to the crawlspace to get model and serial numbers for the heat strips and found both mold and rat droppings which concerned him. That is when the recommendation was made to move your system and ductwork up to the attic to avoid rodent infestation. The original call to your home for diagnostics was $268.75 plus tax. That included the diagnostics, refrigerant we added and a new filter. There was no subsequent costs associated with any of the return visits. Our original service call was 6/2/16, second call out was 6/8/16 and the [Member Information Removed] call to your home was 6/16/16 which was a total of 2 weeks. We do strive to provide our customers with the best [Member Information Removed] service and I am sorry you felt we did not that provide you with that.

After Brennan replaced our furnace, the AC unit above the furnace that worked for years broke, caused condensation built up and burnt the furnace below. Brennan came out, did not admit fault, instead charged us $321.93 to replace the board. I expect Brennan to own up to their mistakes and they failed to do so.

They came out, briefly looked at the furnace and ducting in the garage and the location outside where the outdoor unit would need to go and left - spent the least amount of time onsite and almost no time discussing options. They emailed their offered choices. It feels like Brennan is focused on doing the easy jobs that let them deploy one of a few solutions they understand well and thats all they offer. They are less expensive than other bids I received and I suspect thats why. So for a simple product to be dropped in place, they may be fine. If you have specific needs that take them outside of their box, they are not an option.

Brennan installed water heater for us. Since then, our water meter started registering leaks. We had American Leak Detection come out who isolated the leak to the water heater. We called city utility who confirmed water heater should not have the expansion tank Brennan installed in an open system. Brennan came out to take a look and instead of admitting fault, charged us $141.26 for looking. I expect Brennan to own up to their mistakes and they failed to do so.

Summary: Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning has turned out to be the worst company we ever hired. They do subpar work, deny any and all responsibility, so they can repair their work and charge you again. Wow. * I would not recommend them for installation of new furnace, unless you want them to do a poor job, disconnect tube of your AC unit above and forget to put it back, so condensation build up, burn your new furnace's board below, so they can come out again and charge you for replacing that board. * I would not recommend them for installation of new water heater, unless you want them to install a expansion tank unnecessarily (without check valve) in an open plumbing system, cause your water meter to go haywire and charge you lots of money (due to water expansion), then deny about facts that can be googled in 5 minutes so they can avoid taking responsibility. Details: I don't typically write these reviews. However, I had such a poor experience with Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning that I am forced to report it here so others can learn from my mistake. We had Brennan Heating & Air Conditioning to install new furnace/water heater to replace our old ones. This is when our nightmares began. For the furnace, things worked until the next summer, when the AC unit above the furnace started building up condensation, which caused water to get into the furnace below, burning the board. Brennan came out and determined that tube connecting to the AC unit was not properly connected. They charged us $400 to replace the burnt board and walked away. How did the AC unit that worked for years start doing this, you ask? Good question. It was working well before the installation. When we asked, of course Brennan denied having anything to do with that. What are the chances of that being truthful, given the furnace is *right* above the furnace they replaced (it literally sits on it), and just happened to stop working after they touched it? For the water heater, for months since the installation, we had very high water bills. We were forced to look into a potential leak in the house. We called plumbers out and found nothing. So we called American Leak Detection, who found no leaks. The only thing they found was when everything else is off except the water heater in the house, the water meter runs forward. However, there were no leaks even in the plumbing that connects the water heater. So something was wrong with the water heater itself. We also confirmed with the city utility that the water meter is not faulty. Over a thousand dollars more water bill and hundreds of dollars worth of investigations later, we asked Brennan to come out. We weren’t surprised (given earlier experience) when their technician told us they weren’t at fault. The technician obviously kept trying to pin it on other things, except we did our homework and none of the things turned out to be true. The city had told us that the water heater company was supposed to install a check valve to prevent water from water heater to back flow through the meter. We asked the technician, who said he’s never heard of such a thing for a water heater. We asked him to go back and check with people with more experience, and he still came back saying he never heard such a thing. See, the problem is, we called a plumber we trust, who told us that’s a standard thing their company would do if they installed the water heater (who happened to be real plumbers). And we googled ourselves and in 5 minutes we found this to be something that’s routinely done. So why on earth would Brennan say the opposite? It kind of insults someone’s intelligence, doesn’t it? We called the city again and who recommended (again) that either a check valve be installed OR the expansion tank should be decommissioned, since the it’s an open plumbing system and it’s just dumb to install an expansion tank. Why did Brennan install that? Who knows. Maybe they don’t know how to install a water heater? We learned our lesson and would only let real plumbers install/touch our water heater. Oh, and of course they charged $140 dollars for their trip out to basically perform an act of denial. If I wanted drama I’ll go watch a movie instead. Please. I’ve seriously had enough of this BS. I will tell my poor experience to all my friends at the major high tech companies. Heck, some form of this experience might even show up in internal “not recommended” lists so people choose who to work with wisely.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry you are unhappy with the services we provided for you. We have verified with the City of Bellevue that an expansion tank is code required, and the check valve is not required or necessary. We have confirmed that Mechanical Permit # 594023 (that we can provide a copy to you) had/has no pending corrections after our install. We have also confirmed that your water heater was installed per code, and that it is in good working order.
