They provided me the service of selling me something which I already paid for, but then the disservice of never contacting me after multiple attempts on my part to reach them. This has been at least 3 months now.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List deal for something like $69 or $89, can't remember. This was a deal for doing a furnace service. Emailed the contractor 3 times through their own website, and once through Angie's List. Also tried calling but phone never answered and there was no voicemail, just endless ringing. Separately, I also complained to Angie's List about this. They did get back to me, however they have not put me in touch with the contractor. I am thoroughly disgusted with this treatment of a paid customer.

I apologize for your inconvenience. We are fully staffed and answer our phones from 7am until 5pm Monday thru Friday. When purchasing thru Angies List we are not giving the names and numbers to call, we have to wait for the customer to contact us. We would never not return a call or ignore a customer who has purchased a Big Deal. Unfortunately you must have been given a wrong number. I will reach out to you this morning to get this handled. Once again I apologize for your frustration but we always answer our phones and return all calls left on our voicemail after hours. We enjoy and rely on Angie's Big Deals and would never intentionally ignore a customer from any referral service. Thanks.

We had three bids and Ben impressed us with his analysis of the installation. We'd initially wanted Heat Exchange, A/C and Furnace. Since we already had gas services, he advised us to skip the Heat Exchange and just go with the A/C and a high efficiency furnace - said the ROI would be 60+ years based on our monthly usage. They arrived on time, had a complete crew - who all introduced themselves - used shoe covers when in the house - and cleaned up all areas after installation. Installer reviewed the "how to use" the new thermostat, and provided additional tips and tricks to get used to the new system. We have had them back once to adjust the A/C - it occasionally will start hard causing any lights that are on to "bounce" slightly. Was satisfied with the explanation that this was a normal operation from Kevin John, the technican who came to check out the system. Very happy with their service and will use them again if the need arises. Would highly recommend them - quality team!
Description of Work: Removed old furnace, installed new one, and put in air conditioning. Work required modification of existing exhaust venting and heat returns. Out of three bids, Ben Ward was the only one to recommend the modification instead of cutting new paths and putting all new venting in. Installed outside pad, air conditioner (Lennox), straps, venting, covers and wraps. Needed to have them redo the gas piping to the new furnace (initial installation stuck out and was not well thought out). Also had to have them wrap the outside piping to the AC unit (copper ground and wiring). These were small details that put the polish on the job.

Just a few weeks ago we purchased a Lennox MS7 mini-split ductless heat pump via the Costco program. The guy we had come to the house and give us the quote was very professional and a pleasure to work with, likewise with the installation crew. After only a week and a half the indoor unit froze up and literally turned into a solid block of ice, the unit was dripping with water for several hours. I?ve not opened up the unit since it was installed and really looked inside it, so I am unable to say if the ice or the installers crushed the aluminum coil fins. It really looks like someone tried to straighten them with a hammer. Not what I expected from a brand new unit. Also if you are planning on purchasing one of these units, note that all the brochures will show the outside unit with an optional exterior wall channel, well not one person said this was optional until they are leaving and you ask them if they are going to cover the lines that run up the side of your house. It really looks unfinished without this. I am still a little worried about the icing up issue and only time will tell. The tech that came out said the unit was to level and not tilted enough to drain. Before the tech was here the unit was really snug against the wall and looked real nice (and of course level), now you can really see a 1/8 inch gap between the top of the unit and wall and feels real flimsy. Honestly it just looks unprofessional. Update: A week after the last tech was here, the unit froze up again inside, they sent a new tech out this time and unlike the last tech that was here, this guy really seemed to know his stuff. He adjusted the R-410a and was pretty confident this would solve the issue. We have some pretty hot temps coming up this week, so only time will tell.

I prepaid the furnace cleaning with a Angie's List discount coupon. The technician arrived at 9:15 am within the 9:00 to 11:00 schedule time. He cleaned the furnace and electronic air filter system and verified their operation. It took him approximately 50 minutes to complete the service call. With the discount coupon, I expected some up selling of additional services. However, there was no up selling of additional services. Overall I was very satisfied with the service and will have Brennan Heating and Air Conditioning service my furnace next year.

All as expected. No complaints. Good service.
Description of Work: We took advantage of the Angie's list special for furnace maintenance (approximately $89 )Service rep recommended replacement of the igniter. He said this should be done about every five years and when furnace doesn't go on, is likely the reason and can frequently involve a n additional service call plus part expense. We're selling the home and didn't want new owners to deal with that their first winter in the house. Igniter cost at time of the inspection/maintenance visit was $ 130.00-total bill less than 225.00.

I myself was not home while the work was being done, however, my wife said the worker was very courteous and knowledgeable about the water heater. The anode rod was just about shot so that had to be replaced. Another part (can't remember the name) was not needed so I got a credit back for not having to replace it. The whole experience was very good and I only downgrade them a little because it took about 3 months (and a couple of phone calls) to get that credit back to my credit card. I don't like to have to be a pest to get something like that rectified.

He cleaned things up when he was done. Found this company on Angie's List and received a 10% discount. Will most definitely use this company again.

I bought an Angies List Big Deal for $99 Tankless Hot Water Heater maintenance. After two emails someone called and scheduled a time for someone to come out and do it. The person came out, but said that no maintenance could be done because I did not have the proper valves installed on my heater. He called back later and said they could install them for $200 I think. I said I would think about it. It turns out that I didn't have leftover funds for this, so I have written them back twice now, but gotten no response. I think if they want to offer a service on Angies Big deal that has prerequisites, that they should mention that in the offer. I am now out $99 and got no service performed.

When we arrived at the residence we informed the home owner that because the proper valves were not installed we they had the unit installed originally we could not perform the service. We did get back to him with a bid on bringing his unit up to code. We have told the home owner and Angies List that the original $99 should be refunded to him. When purchasing a Big Deal it is between the home owner and Angies List, we can not refund his money direct. I, once again, have informed Angies List about the situation and that he should be refunded. I am sorry for the inconvenience but the real problem is between him and the original installer who did not install the product up to code. We are here to fix the issue and stand behind our bid to bring it up to code.

The technician was courteous and timely. After he left, though, I wondered if he had vacuumed the furnace (as I had heard with other technicians when they serviced the gas heater). I wasn't always nearby as he was working, so if it was needed it probably happened when I was out of earshot. This week, since the weather had cooled I turned up the heat and was concerned I didn't hear it come on. To my surprise, it was working but without the previous rumbling, rattling and vibration from the furnace! Nice job!! Thank you.

This project was contracted through Costco. The guys showed up on schedule with s full crew. During installation they decided the job could be accomplished without installing a planned drain pump for furnace and air conditioner runoff, saving us $100 on the final cost. They worked a long day, late into the evening, came back the next morning to charge the air conditioner. They provided an up-graded thermostat without charge when the planned one wasn't available the day of the installation. They obtained all necessary permits, and provided all forms and information necessary for us to set up the mechanical and electrical inspections, which were successful. The guys were very friendly and helpful, answering all our questions and explaining how the various parts of the system work. We will continue to use them for system inspections and maintenance.

I was able to promptly get an appointment, and Paul Oble showed up on time and was professional. He was familar with my hydronic water heating system and had serviced similar units in my complex. Unfortunately, Brennan did not have a replacement part (heating pump) in stock. Paul informed me that it would take up to six weeks to get the part as the part had to be manufactured, which it did. I got charged $100 for that initial 15 minute visit, and then another $600 for the second visit to replace the pump (the pump cost $425). It just didn't feel right to be charged for $100 for the first visit, considering that they didn't have the part and the assessment took 15 mins to confirm what I already knew. I was thinking that could have been done over the phone or by Skype. That being said, I was happy with the service.

This was an successful and uneventful event. The furnace is very efficient and also qualified for a rebate.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced hot water heater and gas furnace. Initially I was exposed to the "deal" through Costco. Their servicer was Brennan. I was pleased as they had a good reputation. After evaluating my needs for hot water and heat they recommended the right replacements. Scheduling and installation was on time and very efficient. The installers were professional and pleasant. I also have purchased via Angies List the service.

I didn't check around so I don't know if I good deal or not for the price. For responsiveness I would give them a B and the reason for that is because I called and left a message when I thought something was wrong and they said that someone would call me back and no one ever did. I had to call back in a week and then I got very good response after that. I hope I don't have to but I would use them again.

l would have given top rating but for poor communication and misleading advertising. When I called for the service appointment, dispatching did not disclose that there was going to be a $100 trip charge, or what their rates were at all. I knew exactly what part was needed and I requested that the technician have it in their truck, first trip out. Dispatcher even asked for brand and description of broken existing part. But when technician came out, he did not have the part and didn't even know the nature of the call--he thought our system was completely down with no heat. I never said that to anyone. So the technician had to leave without doing the job, bill the trip charge, have me rescheduled for a week later, and get the needed part in his truck from their warehouse. Inefficient use of everyone's time. The technician was polite and competent once he came back with the part in hand. He billed fairly for his time. The part price was inflated, but I guess they have to markup warehoused parts. Another disconnect: If they really thought we were without heat, why would they schedule their technician to come out a week after my initial call? ...in December! Their transparency in pricing and advertising needs work: Brennan's display ad in Nov 2011 Angie's List magazine indicated "10% off general maintenance". Last I checked, they have the same ad now 7 months later. But when I asked for the discount, technician said I have to coordinate that through Angie's list and pay Angie's directly and that he cannot offer any discount to members for a routine repair. He said "general maintenance" is a specific system checkup package, it does not pertain to actual general maintenance and repairs! But their advertising just says "10% OFF General Maintenance" with no definition of what that means. Without that explanation, any customer would think that general maintenance means, well, general maintenance! So I would warn members to be very careful to make sure Brennan's dispatchers and technicians really understand your service needs and get someone to repeat it back to you. Also, be watchful of their pricing and advertising practices.

I listen to between 30 -50 service appointments being scheduled every day and do hear our pricing policies discussed on every call, it is our policy to discuss up front to avoid any confusion or dispute. I am sorry if the $92 trip charge came as a surprise to you but it is a very competitive rate for our industry. Your advice is very good for every homeowner when schedule work to be done in their home. We all should be careful and get price quotes before scheduling appointments to have work done. Homeowner needed a fresh air package which is very rare and something we would never stock on our truck. We do stock a vast assortment of furnace parts, he needed a part for a fresh air package, totally different. 9 out of 10 times the part we were told to bring is not what is needed, so we typically won’t run all over town before we diagnose the situation. That being said there is no additional expense for coming out twice and if the homeowner had no heat we would have rushed the whole process but this all took place in December which is a month we do try to put priority on no heat situations. Yes we do put a markup on parts and we do not hide that. Without markup we would not have a business and we do spend money to get to the warehouse, get to the house and install the part. Our ad clearly states 10% off a general maintenance. Whenever this is brought up during scheduling of the appointment and the discussion of cost for the appointment we explain that a general maintenance is different than a service call to diagnose and fix a broken part. A general maintenance is when we come out to clean up and maintain an operating piece of equipment. We will gladly honor that 10% to every member of Angie’s List at any time when we are performing a general maintenance. As far as our advertising practices, I work very hard on not being deceptive when I go to market. I will always error on the side of caution due to our reputation in the marketplace and my desire to keep it at a very high level. I am sorry you have these feelings towards Brennan Heating and AC and would appreciate an opportunity to change them. Please call me anytime to discuss. Thanks Eric Beardemphl Brennan Heating AC
