They were VERY prompt -- within an hour. The technician was nice, looked at the garbage disposal, and had me sign an authorization saying I would pay $49 for the estimate (to be rolled into the cost of service, if done). After 20+ minutes, the technician returned with an estimate of $456 to replace our garbage disposal with another 1/2 HP version, or $563 for a 3/4 HP version. (Snaking out the drain was another $253). Frustrated, I paid the $49 + tax, went to major home improvement where I bought a 1/2 HP Badger garbage disposal for $80, and my 17 year-old son and husband installed it in under 45 minutes (although it was a first time for both of them). I'm sure Best Plumbing would have installed a nicer garbage disposal, but as our former Badger lasted us 7 years, that wasn't an issue for me. In the end, the price seemed exorbitant for a very simple job. I do want to note that the technician, seeing my frustration, was great, and gave me good hints about unplugging drains, etc.

It's bad enough to charge $49 for an estimate. To bug me twice at work and then not show up after rearranging my day is not professional. It's like scheduling a job interview where the interviewer has to leave an entire morning open for you to appear, charging for your time, and then thinking you can show up in the afternoon - what's wrong with this picture?

I had never had to hire a plumber before and I expected the work to be very expensive. His estimate came out to be much less expensive than I thought it would. He was a young kid but everything turned out very well. He could see that I was worried about what he would find and he did everything he could to try and comfort me.

BEST FLOOR MANAGER AND TWO PLUMBERS CAME TO SWITCH THE TUBS. RELUCTANTLY, I PAID THE $1400 CHARGE FOR SWITCHING THE TUBS, EVEN THOUGH BEST'S ORIGINAL INSTALL ESTIMATE SEVERAL MONTHS EARLIER WAS $800. I WAS TOLD ANOTHER PART NEEDED TO BE ORDERED, AND THE PLUMBER WOULD BE OUT A WEEK LATER. I WAS TOLD THE TUB WAS USABLE, BUT IT FLOODED THE FLOOR WHEN IN USE. PLUMBER CAME BACK AND GAVE ME ANOTHER BILL FOR $695. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE COST FOR THE NEW PART AND THE LEGS THAT WERE ON THE FLOOR MODEL. I CALLED THE COMPANY TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THE EXTRA CHARGE, BUT NO CALLS WERE RETURNED. I WAS TOLD THE FLOOR MANAGER WAS NOW GONE AS WELL. SPOKE TO THE OWNER SEVERAL TIMES AND HE FEELS THAT GIVING ME A SCRATCHED FLOOR MODEL (THAT COST HIS COMPANY NOTHING), AND HAVING ME PAY THE LABOR COSTS OF OVER $2000 IS FAIR. I ASKED THAT HE AT LEAST VOID THE SECOND $695 BILL. HE REFUSED, CLAIMING THAT THE ENTIRE PROBLEM IS MY FAULT. BEST PLUMBING MADE MONEY OFF OF ITS OWN ERROR.

Excellent guys to work with. Responsive and on-time. Plus, they do quality work. This was a big job, and I have no problem recommending them to anyone.

Derek arrived one-half hour early for the 1 PM appointment and proceeded to give the '$49 estimate'. He spent a long time writing up an estimate along with their 'standard rate' and 'value rate'. He explained that I could save $123 now if I paid the one-time $89 now for the 'value rate'. I told him they were just out here to install 2 new toilets and that we probably have the value rate. He never checked and charged us this in the final bill. Around 1 PM, he left for an hour. He did not have the correct tools to do the job (drill bit to drill hole through a stainless sink). He smelled strongly of cigarettes. When he came back, he stayed until 6:30 PM. Other people came to drop off items that he did not have. He broke one of the parts on the filter and had to rig something up to make it work. They did not charge by the hour, but gave a price 'value rate' for each task, which seemed absurd. I should have paid the estimate fee and told him to leave, but we have been loyal customers.

FYI to Angie's list members. I attempted to get a bid from Best on a pretty big remodel job that has been previously bid out between 5k-8k. I was told over the phone that Best would not come out without a $49 fee to give me a quote (which could be waived if I ended up using them). For on a job this size I personally do not think a company should be in the business of charging for their estimates. I did receive estimates from O'Neal and Fox without any mention of bid fees and they are equally listed high in this member list. It is possible that I might hire Best for a repair in the future, but I was not impressed by the person I spoke to on the phone enough to pay for a quote.

Our plumber arrived right on time, was very professional and friendly and performed the work just as I had expected it. He communicated well and patiently walked us through our options and pointed us in the right direction for a potential solution. We've got very good service from Best Plumbing in the past and this one was no exception. Highly recommended.

Company sent a repair tech within 24 hrs of call. Plumber was timely, polite, efficient & friendly. He kept the house very clean and reassembled and relocated everything before leaving. I felt price was fairly hefty, even allowing for $60/hour, since he was here a scant 3 hours. Cost of replacement parts was less than $20. If you're willing to pay full price to get it done right, quickly, and with minimal friction/hassle, this is a good vendor to choose.

OUTSTANDING. THE PLUMBER KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING, EXPLAINED CHOICES THAT WE HAD, RECOMMENDED STEPS WE NEEDED TO KEEP OUR SINK IN TOP SHAPE. KNEW ALL ABOUT PLUMBING. FIXED OUR SHOWER. THOUGH IT GAVE US PROBLEMS FOLLOWING THE FIX, HE RETURNED TO RE-VISIT THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT CHARGE US.

THE SHOWROOM IS QUITE LARGE, MANY DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS TO CHOOSE FROM. SALES PEOPLE ALL VERY HELPFUL, COMMUNICATED WELL AMONGST THEMSELVES. I SAW AT LEAST 4 DIFFERENT SALESPEOPLE FOR MY JOB AND ALL WERE CURRENT WITH MY NEEDS.

THE ESTIMATE TO HAVE OUR PIPES CLEANED OUT SO THEY COULD DRAIN PROPERLY WAS OUTRAGEOUS AT THE COST OF $2400 AND WE WERE UNABLE TO HIRE THEM FOR THE JOB. A NEIGHBOR HAD ROTO-ROOTER COME IN AND THAT TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM AT $600 INSTEAD.

FELT THAT THEIR PRICES ARE LITTLE HIGHER THE COMPETITION. DOES A GREAT JOB ON CLOGGED DRAINS, BUT IS WAY OVERPRICED FOR OTHER REPAIRS. QUALITY OF WORK WAS ONLY AVERAGE.
