Best Plumbing

He was prompt and looked at the work I needed done which was replacing some plumbing under the kitchen sink as it was old and leaking, and determining why both of my toilets were inconsistently running. After he inspected the work he went out to his van and came back with an estimate shortly thereafter. The price to replace the plumbing under the sink was acceptable, but he wanted $175 to replace two flappers. I said aren't flappers just a few dollars and replacing them a quick and easy job? He said a bit more than a few dollars and the job depended on whether or not he ran into any difficulties and it was priced for the job. I asked if he got done quickly could there be a discount and he said no. All things considered, I didn't have him replace the flappers as the price seemed very high. I had him replace the plumbing under the kitchen sink and am very pleased with that.

I talked to Best Plumbing before I purchased the deal and they told me they couldn't give me any kind of quote without coming out for an estimate. Then the receptionist decided she could call the plumber after all for prices after I told her some pricing from other companies. They didn't say anything else about doing an inspection first but also offered a 10% senior discount. They never mentioned on the phone that they don't service Federal Way, even though it is part of King County. Nothing under the Big Deal listing says they don't service other cities in King County. After having made the coupon purchase, Best Plumbing called me back leaving a curt message saying they don't service the Federal Way area and that I would have to call Angie's List back for my refund.

Because of a scheduling snafu, the plumber arrived a little late. But he took his time, didn't rush, and finished all the repairs that I needed done. He also explained and showed me why there was a price difference from the original quote, which was made by a different person.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out okay. They came twice, once to clear the drain so that it would flow, and the next time they came to make the plumbing better. The dealing was pretty straightforward. I paid more than I was expecting to pay for the whole project.

Everything went great. They were prompt, professional, efficient. Luckily they had the right hose bib on the truck and it could replace the one I had without having to tear out the wall. My only complaint is that the price was high. What I paid above was after a Big Deal discount for something that took a half hour to do.

It went fine. There were additional charges. They said it was a minimum of $200 per call and the $72 charge bought me over $120 worth of service and I had to pay the balance. It was not quite it was worded in the commercial. I thought the plumber was excellent. He told me what he was going to do and he did it pretty quickly. There was no fuss and no muss and they gave me a guarantee afterwards so that was fine. The services were very good. It was just different than what I thought it was going to be. My expectations based on the promotions were not met.

Showed up promptly and suggested what we should do to avoid outside pipes freezing in the winter. Gave a fair estimate and was finished on time.

The serviceman arrived on time and fixed the leaking (constantly filling) toilet and replaced dripping faucet valves/stems (?) and washers on three bathroom faucets. He did not have the parts for one Chicago faucet in his truck and drove back to the business supply/parts location to get the correct part, returning to install them in a timely fashion. This was an Angie's Big Deal and the labor costs seemed reasonable but the parts were expensive. The serviceman was very helpful with information about faucet and toilet manufacturers that are reasonably priced and relatively easy/inexpensive to repair.

Plumber arrived on time and had all the parts required. The first faucet had springs inside (which I could easily have messed up myself) yet he was familiar with it and quickly had the core replaced. He noticed some difficulty working the faucet after he finished, took it apart again and found a burr on the cylinder. He removed the burr and the faucet then worked great! The second faucet required a special tool to remove the old core because it had deteriorated so badly. After a struggle, he got it out and everything went well after that. I'm sure glad I decided not to do this job myself!

Curt was patient in explaining things to me, worked consistently, did everything well and efficiently, and cleaned up after each task was completed. I thought that the outflow sewer pipe from the first floor was leaking; but Curt looked at it ,and immediately said the wax sealer that attaches the he toilet pipe to the floor was leaking. It was a simpler job, though time consuming. I had a spare toilet from the basement that had had to be disconnected, so Curt went the extra mile in hauling the spare toilet from the back yard and removed the ancient, HEAVY, old toilet out of the house. The original sewer pipe that had been attached to the basement toilet had been left uncapped when the bathroom was torn out. (Long story.) Curt had to cut the cast iron pipe and then replace it with a new pipe that could be capped (to prevent gases and rodents from entering the basement). I am a worrier but I felt somewhat relaxed because it was clear that Curt knew what he was doing. Everything works fine now. Plumbing is expensive but I feel that I got my money's worth.

It went well, but was more pricey than I'd expected. Like other reviewers, I thought the coupon would probably cover the entire interaction, and it only covered a small portion of the work. Plumbing is expensive, though, and the work was good.

No problem with the service provider - they were great! I ordered a new refrigerator and scheduled the plumber to come to install a new water line, but when the fridge arrived we realized it wouldn't fit through the current opening from the dining room. :(

Best Plumbing was prompt in setting up an appointment for an estimate to replace a bath tub faucet, and to install a natural gas line. I was told that the plumber might not be able to complete either project if he didn't have the appropriate supplies. I thought this was a bit odd, since plumbers drive stocked trucks. The plumber arrived on time, looked over the projects and told me the cost to install the faucet would be $432. and the cost to install the gas line $1510.- AFTER paying some sort of $89 great customer fee. The costs for both projects were significantly higher without paying that fee. I called another company who specializes in natural gas line installation and am having the service performed for $857., permits included. Another plumbing company is installing the faucet for $212.

I wish I could find something other than straight A's to give Best Plumbing/King County Sewer Drain & Plumbing. Mike the plumber arrived basically on-time, but it wasn't his fault due to a traffic accident on the freeway that has traffic backed up for miles. Though he did call to let me know he would be delayed. So good communication right from the start and in all fairness, I can't ding him for being a little late. He was friendly and professional (unlike the plumbing nightmares we've experienced in the past). Got right in and accessed the problem, got a snake to clear the drain and went to work. He'd get it a bit unclogged and then have to snake it some more. All the while answering my questions. Eventually, he got that drain running faster than it has run in years. All told, he was in and out in 25-30 minutes and I had minimum interruption to my work day. We went with King County Sewer Drain & Plumbing because of all their positive reviews. But in this day and age, I was more than a little skeptical. Frankly, I doubted any company could have that many. But Mike's personable demeanor and skills made a believer out of me. I have witnessed it for myself that there's a reason Angies List folks rave about his company. Next time there's a plumbing issue, Mike's company is on speed dial.

Wayne came over to give us a bid on our sink and disposal. We told him we were interested in the Angie's List 'Big Deal'. He completely took our sink and garbage disposal out and set them on our counter (he said this was required to tell us IF he could install the new one?) He said our new sink 'didn't fit' and he'd have to make alterations. I should have stopped him right there -I could see that was a stretch. I could have used my fingernail file to shave off what he was saying 'didn't fit', but Ok...so on to the money. With our sink completely in pieces, he tells us the Angie's List deal really isn't going to work in this scenario, and we ought to buy his Universal Protection Program for an additional $89 that will save us 'X' percentage and end up 'paying for itself' and be far better than the Angie's List $150 deal we just bought (non-refundable, by the way). So he takes out his calculator, and arrives at a figure of $962.51!!! To drop in OUR OWN sink and garbage disposal, into a pre-existing space. This sink and disposal CAME WITH self-install instructions right on it, for Pete's sake! The ONLY REASON we hired a plumber was to have it done 'right' and get a guarantee...well, read on. At this point, I am STILL kicking myself for not telling him to get out of my house...but we had guests that would be arriving in days, and this guy had our sink in PIECES on our counter (yes, I should have told him to put the dang thing back together and leave, but he had already been over an HOUR into it), hours later, we pay this insanely outrageous bill, we are OUT THE MONEY for the stupid Angie's List 'Big Deal' that turned into a big fat waste of money -and we are ASSURED his work is guaranteed, when less than a year later, the sink STARTS LEAKING AGAIN. We had thought the sprayer had become a little loose, so we tightened that up. However, a couple of weeks later, when I went to reach under the sink to grab some cleaning supplies we keep towards the back in plastic tubs, my arm came out SOAKED. It isn't the fixture. The water is leaking through the seals that Best Plumbing installed. GREAT. I went online to their website to find their phone number to call, and they have a banner that states: "Our Service Warranty: 1 Year on New Installations" then you read the *does not apply to customer supplied fixtures." So we were sold $1000 of worthless plumbing 'expertise' that we would have HAPPILY saved and installed ourselves had we not been lied to about the warranty. Now I have everything from under my sink in the garage, AGAIN. I am drying out underneath my sink -AGAIN. We trusted Angie's List, bought the 'Big Deal', are out more than $1000, and in the same boat as one year ago. PS, the Universal Protection Plan he sold us cost us more than the Big Deal, after I calculated it out on my own. I don't know how they could have ripped us off more.

Initial estimate was given with two type of pricing value vs normal pricing and value price which seemed reasonable based on 3-4 hours estimated by the person to complete the job and also much less than the normal price. I assumed that value price is applicable to Angies list members and this was not confirmed by the Best plumbing person but on the day of service I was charged full price which seemed quite excessive considering that he finished the work in an hour total. Luckily I had purchased 119$ for 200$ plumbing services.

Disappointing. The "Big Deal" was presented as "1.5 hours of professional plumbing" for $180. We have a duplex, and both kitchen sinks had slow leaks (very slow drips), and one shower/tub was slow to drain. Having done plumbing myself, I knew that all three jobs could easily be done in less than an hour, particularly for anybody with the right tools and training. I was simply short of time, and wanted to give our tenants the pleasure of a fully functional unit when they arrived. So we went ahead and sprung for the work, even though it's painful to consider anything short of heart surgery is worth $120 an hour. Turns out the deal had nothing to do with actual hours, but book rate. Here's what that means: Our sinks have PVC plumbing, where the joints are held together by nuts that are tightened/loosened by hand. The leaks were at the joints, meaning they simply needed to be undone, cleaned, and re-attached with teflon tape and maybe a little plumbers putty. The book rate had that job at 2 hours. It was going to cost $287 and change to address the leak in one sink! So, I went through our list of potential jobs, only to discover that we couldn't get a single job completed for the 1.5 hours. Best claims that not one of these jobs can be done in an hour and a half. Not a single one: Remove a bathroom faucet and install a new one. Stop a leaky kitchen drain. Snake a slow bathtub drain. I was flabbergasted. The total bill for those simple jobs was going to be north of $1k. Insane! I finally opted to have them snake the tub, simply because I don't have the equipment. This consumed the entire $180 "Big Deal" voucher, and cost an additional $95. Again, that seemed just bonkers. After he left, I took time off from work and performed the other jobs. Completed everything in less than an hour. As an amateur, without training, and without the equipment. Youtube, my macbook pro, and a quick trip to Home Depot. Yes, that hour included the trip to the store (to be fair, we live less than half a mile away). Long and short, the plumber was fine, but this business model has seen the end of its days. Cost-plus pricing, book rate work, and massive overhead doesn't really work in this day and age. The only time I'll be calling a "professional" plumber is if and when there is something extraordinarily challenging. Otherwise, I can afford to take some time away from work, rather than make their next Mercedes payment.

I had bought Angie's deal for the specific purpose of using it for my leaky faucet. unfortunately for $75 I got $135 worth of plumbing services. The plumber showed up at the deginated time and was very pleasant and proffessional. I have a brass faucet that was leaking from a couple of points underneath the sink. It was a very tight space and he was at the house for about 2 hours. He gave me the estimate before he started the work and I was rather flabbergasted at the price. He charged $`140/hour plus an additional amount for what i'm not exactly sure. He also replaced 2 washers and cartridges in the faucet. Felt that it reinforced the fact how crazy expensive plumbers are. In the future I might put a cup to catch the drip...a really nice cup!

The only issue we ran into is that we schedule an appointment to have someone hydro jet the drain, not use a traditional snake as our pipes we not blocked, just running slower and since we had gone through this process 5 years ago we knew what was needed however the scheduler didn't convey that to the tech and they don't carry that equipment on their vehicle normally so we had to schedule a 2nd appointment to come back to do it which stretched the process out more than I would have liked. The tech did a good job once he had the equipment and with the Angie's List deal I purchased, felt the price was reasonable for the service so I think my only issue was that of training the scheduler a little better.

person came to give quote for repair of kitchen faucet. The amount seemed extraordinary and was set by job, not by what actually the time it would take. He warned me that he might get busy and not get right back to me, and he was right and never did. I had to call. When I got the call back he was talking to me about my bathroom shower, not the job I had quote about. It just seemed wrong all around, so I cancelled job and went with someone who did it in a timely manner for 1/2 the price.

It was an excellent experience. There was a leak dripping from upstairs to downstairs so there way an urgency and they came out right away. It was $700 with the new toilet with the labor and all. I signed up for a return, sort of a good health of the plumbing system service agreement because I was so happy with the first experience, I signed with a long term relationship with them. I wasn't shocked or disappointed with their service. They were very responsive and very professional.

He did a good job and everything went well. He was very a very nice guy and very knowledgable. He was very professional.

I called Best because they were highly rated and had a deal going. I own a small rental house, so really have been searching for a plumber that is reliable and trustworthy. Unfortunately Best is not that plumber. I called them because my tenant called and complained of a "sewer like" smell coming from one end of the house. After some jockeying of dates between me and the tenant Best came out. Their plumber did not even GO into the crawl space. He said while he was out there the tenant also let him know that the kitchen drain drained slowly. So he cleared that drain and one other and left. And charged me $365 to clear two drains. Um, if there's a sewer smell, shouldn't you go under the house to investigate? Apparently he did not think so. Obviously, a week later, while I was out of state on vacation I got another call from the tenant that not only was the smell back, it was worse than ever. After talking to Best, and being told that they hadn't even gone under the house, I called another plumber. Who told me that there was a hole in the kitchen drain pipe, so it was spewing grey water (including garbage disposal waste) into the crawl space. Which clearly would have been noticed and could have been fixed, if the first guy had gone into the crawl space like he should have. In fact, the second guy suggested that snaking (Best used another term, for a more aggressive clearing of the drain line) the line had probably made it worse. I called Best back and told them all this, suggesting that the right thing to do would be to refund me at least part of what I'd paid them and they absolutely refused to do so. I will not be using them again. And I would not recommend them to anyone else either. The problem ended up being completely repaired for under $200.

I was incredibly happy with the end result and would definitely use them again.

They use a set price to fix the disposal; 280.00. With extra charges and tax I ended up spending $236.00 using the Angie's list discount. But, the job took 15 minutes. I think that cost is way out of line for the work that was done. I would look for a company that charges by the hour. These set prices for work type is a complete rip off.
