Barbara Lycett Landscape Design

I would highly recommend landscape designer Barbara Lycett. She is able to professionally consult, prepare creative plans and coordinate a wide range of outdoor landscape services.

After many years of trying to pull together our front yard in a 50's rambler we bought 8 years ago, we finally decided to enlist the services of a landscape designer. I found Barbara Lycett via her web site www.blycettlandscapes.com, and was attracted to her wonderful use of color and the fact that she provides CAD drawings. Barbara reviewed our property, and proposed 2 different designs, and suggested a better use of seldom used space. Our landscaping included removing dated planters and a garden wall, redoing the patio and sidewalks, removing a lot of asphalt, an outdoor living space, re-grading, a planting plan, irrigation, fencing, and landscape lighting.The plan had 2 phases for budgetary reasons, which Barbara detailed out in the Design Notes. She was able to show us the proposed look using 3D elevation views, as well as top-down views. Barbara also provided a planting plan (which plants and where.) We decided against the outdoor living space, mainly because we decided to convert the carport into a studio instead. If Barbara hadn't suggested the outdoor living space though, we may not have thought about the studio, so it worked out well. Barbara assisted in finding a build-contractor for us when our efforts weren't fruitful. The build contractor did the regrading and all the hardscape work. We used the planting plan to do the planting and barking, because that's the fun part! Barbara chose plants and hardscaping materials thoughtfully, to pull together our yard and tie it into the interior furnishings as well. When we're outside, neighbors, the mail delivery person, etc all stop to say how beautiful the yard has turned out. Barbara knows plants! She's a wonderful horticulturist and has a good eye for design. For the time Barbara put in and the professional results, her fee was a tremendous value! From start to finish, Barbara was professional, and I so enjoyed working with her as well.
