The two workers arrived with a bucket truck and went straight to work. They were concerned about the weight of the truck on my driveway pavers so called in for plywood to cover the pavers before moving the truck into my driveway. Throughout the project if I had suggestions for evening things out or catching stray branches they immediately responded.

Greg, the owner, came within hours of my call. He looked at the trees, we talked, and agreed on a bid. His crew arrived the next day, and within 4 hours they had cleared 2 large fir trees, 1 large ornamental pear, and 1 cedar. They were professional, and made sure I was happy with the work before they left. They even offered to cut down some smaller bushes that I didn't want. I would definitely hire them again.

They were very prompt and punctual in providing showing up to both provide and estimate and later perform the service. They also gave me a couple of price options when providing the estimate as to the type of pruning I wanted done. And they gave a referral for yard work services which I also was interested in but they didn't provide. I can't really say whether the price for the job was low, high or in the middle in relation to industry standards. But the do have a credit card payment option, which most yard work companies don't have, so I gave them an A in appreciation for that convenience.

Ballard Tree Service responded immediately to my request for an estimate. We agreed to proceed with the job. They arrived on time and did an excellent job. They even returned to trim some additional branches from the tree for no addiditonal charge. I was impressed with their service and would recommend them to others.

We were pleased with the speed that the job of taking the tree down was done. There was a communication problem with the clean up. I had said my son-in-law would like a small amount of the rounds of wood. They left almost a cord which was way to much. I called the office and let her know. She said it was no problem and she would have it picked up the next day. It didn't ever happen and I had to get it done myself as we were trying to sell the house. I take partial blame for the break down of communication. The job of getting the tree down happened very quickly and that was the most important thing, We were happy with the majority of the job.
Description of Work: They cut down a very large maple tree that had split in a wind storm. It was dangerously split from a wind storm and was dangling on power lines and the neighbors fence. I e-mailed them and had a call within 3 minutes. Their estimate was close to others we had gotten but they agreed it needed to be taken care of urgently. That night they had a crew that cut down the portion that was dangerous then finished taking the tree down the next day.

the young man who operates the stump grinder arrived in morning following another job in area as promised. The machine was large for use in urban garden,I was a little shocked. He looked at the stumps and gave a price and adjusted as was doing multiple. I was not going to have them do the 4th mostly rotted stump--he gave a very minimal quote for that one and I went ahead with all four stumps. I had not gotten any other estimates but from some previous qoutes felt comfortable going ahead and with a neighbor's referrence to the company and info on Angies list--I proceded with the job. The operator and I discussed concerns about any plants in the area and he used a sheet of plywood to protect plants or nearby windows. It took less an hour to complete the work. He was courteous and worked safely for himself and my property. i would recommend the company for stump grinding and consider for other tree services as long as did get an estimate for comparison--the information about the company on Angies List was reassuring.
Description of Work: Did stump grinding of three trees and some work on a partially rotted stump for a minimal additional cost. It did take three phone calls and never did receive a return call with an estimate as promised--I did tell them that I was unable to send a photo of the stumps but gave sizes of the stumps. It was at the thrid call that learned they would be grinding a stump in my neighborhood in two days so they agreed to come and review my situation. I had them do the work at that time and am satisfied with the completed job.

I had occasion to work with a couple of crews on this job. They were both very professional, knew what they were doing, worked very efficiently, without excessive noise (other than the chain saws of course), and cleaned everything up. At least one of the crews was manned with an arborist who was able to advise me on the best course of action in terms of what branches to cut back. The reason that I ended up working with two crews is that I had to leave halfway into them working on the job the first time, and they ended up not cutting back the Laurel as much as I wanted. This was probably a shared responsibility, but Ballard Tree service called me the next day to ask how satisfied I was, and when I mentioned this, they sent another crew over to make the adjustments, no questions asked. This sort of customer service is what wins loyal customers..., and I am very happy with the end result.

I called and made an appt. for a quote. The time was supposed to be at 2:00 o'clock..at 3:00 I called them..they had no appt. written down for me. I spoke with Greg. He said he would get someone right over and apologized..seemed confused. At 4:00 I called again..finally someone showed up at 4:45. I got a quote and a date and time for work to be done. They showed up at the appointed time on the correct date and did a fantastic job..with one exception...this was hilarious...there were some blackberry vines wound up in one of the trees. He laid them out, very carefully..across the yard..didn't cut them off but strung them out individually..so funny. I called them the next day and they came out and removed them. Yesterday I got the bill..not as quoted. I called, talked to the office manager and all has been adjusted. Lots of small errors but they were very nice and did a great job

The tree was growing directly next to our one-story house so getting the tree down safely without damaging our roof was important. When the crew arrived, I explained that I was also hoping to save the plants in the bed next to the tree as well. The crew was quite courteous in accepting the challenge and successfully removed the tree without crushing house or other plants. They cleaned up the debris and were on their way in half an hour!

We asked Ballard Tree Service to trim a very large cherry tree, taking off 1/3 of the tree and shaping it. They came with a cherry picker and had to work around a car that was parked in an inconvenient location. They did a beautiful job, doing just what we asked and shaping the tree nicely. They were very accommodating of our specific needs and we would not hesitate to have them again. We also called them for an estimate on some other trees, but when they came they told us they could only thin the trees due to city regulations and we opted to wait.

Ballard Tree Service was great, and I would recommend them to anyone. Andy was able to come out to give me a free estimate the same day I called in. He was quick and knew what he was talking about, and left me with a written estimate for the tree removal. I had called one other service for a quote, but Ballard Tree was the cheaper price and was more professional with their communication. I called the next day (Friday) to schedule the service for the following Monday. They came on time and had the tree removed in 20 min, I was shocked with how quickly they had it down. They cleaned the area as if they had never even been there. The next day they were able to come complete the stump grinding while I was at work, and I received my invoice in the mail that week. They made the whole process very easy.

I do most of my gardening myself, but I have some trees too big for me to work on so I have been looking for the right people to trim one huge laurel and two smaller bay trees. These guys (one guy actually) was the best I've had by far. Decent price, keen judgment, and great customer service. The owner came on time and give me an estimate quickly. I has asked him to top the big laurel at the property line, even though we all know that's not ideal. I just needed it to keep it from leaning over onto my side of the fence. I've been trying to avoid topping it for years but finally couldn't think of an alternative to having it reach the stratosphere. When the employee came to do the work, he first made sure to talk with the co-owner of the tree to make sure it was OK with her to do the topping. But then he suggested he bevel the top to do the same thing without the chopped off look topping would have created. It turned out very gracefully. Before he was quite done with the job he got pulled off to work on a critical job. He told me he had to take off, cleaned up the big stuff, told me he'd be back the next day, and sure enough when I got home from work the work was done and the cleanup job was meticulous. No question, I've found the tree guys I've been looking for.

The removal went very well. They arrived with the proper equipment and went right to work. They were careful with the limb removal, so that none of the branches hit the house. They also removed a small birch tree and removed a pigeon nest behind a downspout, with out my asking. It was a very thoughtful thing to do. It saved me from having to go up on a ladder and do it. The clean up was good, I did not have to sweep the walk. The only constructive advice I have to offer is that they need to keep the client informed about the arrival time. It was a bit frustrating not knowing when they were going to show up. I called the office and they could not tell me how the schedule was going. This might just be a particular day. Other wise I am pleased with Ballard Tree Service and would use them again.

I phoned for someone to visit to review the work I wanted done. The owner, Greg, arrived on time & was good at answering my questions & concerns. He wrote out an estimate as requested, breaking down the charges bit by bit. The estimate was the best I had seen & I was eager to schedule. What intrigued me was a phone message that offered me a 10% discount if I scheduled the work that day. So I phoned back to schedule the stump grinding for the same week. Eric came 1/2 hour early (before 9 a.m.!) & I came out to meet him in the yard. It had rained the day before & into the night & he was concerned the weight of the stump grinder would sink it into the lawn, leaving tracks. I agreed with him that we should delay until the next day & he left. A few hours later, he phoned to ask if he could return as the sun had come out & he had figured out how the job could be done without damaging the lawn. He returned & was ready to start. He laid 4'x8' sheets of wood down to protect the lawn as he directed the huge stump grinder to the back yard. He had asked & I allowed him to disconnect the gate from its hinges so the grinder would fit through. I also gave him permission to take the cement stepping stones up & out of the way before the weight of the grinder broke them. He was very conscientious about taking care of my property. I also really appreciated the trouble he took to confine the wood chips to the smallest area around the stump. Otherwise, I'd be raking them out of the grass forever. He propped the 4'x8' wood sheets to stand up alongside the grinder so the chips eventually formed a large mound that grew as the stump disappeared. He moved them as the grinder made progress, keeping the boards propped up with a pitchfork stuck into the ground. The grandkids ( 2 & 7 years old) & I watched from a 2nd story picture window. We had a perfect vantage of all the action. They enjoyed watching Eric work & ignored the TV. I took pictures through the window. When the stump was completely reduced to chips, Eric maneuvered the huge grinder out of the yard, reconnected the gate, replaced the cement stepping stones, said goodby & drove away. I expect a bill to arrive in the mail as agreed. What impressed me about Ballard Tree Service was the enthusiasm of its employees, starting with the owner, Greg, Alicia in the office, and Eric the stump grinder man. All around, I am very pleased with the work done. I had waited a long time to get that stump gone & am very happy right now.

The first job was to remove a very tall tree in our back yard after a branch fell on our neighbor's roof. They cut down the tree and even cut the trunk into 18" rounds and stacked them so we could use the wood for the fireplace. The second job was to remove a sugar gum tree on the street after a large branch fell into the street, compromising the tree (not to mention the cars!). Again, they cut down the tree, ground the stump, and cut the wood into useable chunks. Lastly, they excavated a long strip of bamboo in our front yard. They carefully sifted for roots and filled in the dirt so it was flush with the sidewalk. Each time they have been quick to provide an estimate, quick to do the work, and nothing but polite and professional when they're here. The work is stellar and they clean up completely. The prices are very reasonable- especially for the quality of work they do!

I saw they're reviews on Angie's List and they were close so I decided give them a try. They sent someone out to do an estimate and told us to call them back when we were ready for the work to be started. After the estimate about a month went by and we called, they sent someone out the next available day. I was not there, but my wife said they were nice and even climbed up another tree to do some light pruning to prevent some branches going onto the neighbors home. Overall experience was great, and I will gladly recommend hire them again.
Description of Work: Cut 3 birch trees that were close to the house and starting to do damage to my roof. I was supprised to see how close to the stump they were able to get it. The trees were between a cememt pathway and a cedar fence. No damage to any of the surroundings.

August was our first contact with the owner of Ballard Tree Service. He was onsite within hours to access the situation and if we wished he would have had a crew there the next day. It was more convenient for us to have them come several days later. The crew showed up on time and the foreman made sure that the removal did no further damage in a very tight area. He told me they would clean up all debris and we would never know it was there. He was true to his word. The only negative was that it took several phone calls and a week to get the wood picked up. We could probably could have put it on Craig's list and had it picked up faster. In our case this was not a critical fault. In November a tree fell in my Mom's yard. Overall we had such a good experience with Ballard Tree that we called them again. The performance was almost identical. This time however we were given a senior citizen discount, not much, but it paid the tax. Wonderful cleanup, again you would never know a very large tree had fallen. But again it took several phone calls and a week to get the wood picked up. Still we would recommend this company for the owner's immediate response when contacted even on a Sunday and for the quality of the cut up and clean up performed.
