We are a locally owned and operated company that has been serving the greater Seattle area since 1963 and we are fully licensed, bonded & insured. We have three commercial vehicles that provide mobile service throughout the city, 24 hours a day. We rekey homes and businesses, open locked doors, replace lost keys, repair broken locks, install deadbolts & beef up door jambs, install latch guards, repair vandalism / burglary damage, create master key systems and more. We also sell a full line of residential and commercial hardware including; Medeco high security deadbolts, Schlage door knobs & Lever Locks, Simplex push button locks, Trilogy electronic locks, Von Duprin push bar exit devices, Norton door closers, full length astragals and much, much more. Description of Work: I called these guys because I needed a quick carving job in a door jamb for which I did not have the tools or the skills. The job was performed satisfactorily in literally less than 5 minutes, for which I found the $75 charge outrageous. For that reason I will not use them again - but I also can't tell what the average charges are in the locksmith business. (Edit: In retrospect I was probably unfair criticizing the price aggressively; after all it's market rate - I still think it's pretty high for a 5 minute job, however I rated this provider an A on everything but the price)

I'm sorry that this person is unhappy with the price she was charged for our services. I'm also shocked that she would go online and say that the charges were outrageous, then admit that she doesn't really know what this type of service should cost. We charged her our normal rate to come out (68.50 + tax) even though she was across town and didn't charge her anything for the labor. That's a good deal by any standard. By the time I pay for my license, bond, insurance, fuel and technicians salary, $68.50 is barely a break even point for sending one of my trucks out on the road. I hope this person will take the time to call around and see what other legitimate locksmith companies charge, then perhaps reconsider her negative remarks. If she's still unhappy after that, she can simply call me and I will refund her money in full. Bob, Owner Ballard Lock & Key

Description of Work: An interior door had inadvertently gotten locked with the keys inside. On short notice, at 9:00 pm on Sunday, Evan came over and quickly got it open. I am in the neighborhood, but I appreciated the willingness to respond so quickly.

Description of Work: After calling for an OK, I stopped in with a broken-off key stuck in the lock of a car-top luggage box. Tech came out to the car, removed it quickly with a little pick, and sent me on my way, no charge. Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous.
