Patrick gave an estimate of $3500 for an exterior paint job on an average-sized house (compared to another painter's estimate of $3000 for the same job.) I liked Patrick's description of being attentive to detail and his conscientious demeanor... so I hired him. However, he raised one issue after another... on and on... by the time I finally decided to take him off the job, he had nickeled and dimed the price up to $10,000+ and never even gave me the 'leftover' paint so I could do touch-ups on my own... A word to the wise: keep track of his hours daily- on a mutual basis- agreed start and quit time, because he is not reliable to do it on his own...

Patrick thought carefully about what the job required, and clarified with us before finalizing the estimate. The estimate was competitive with other painters'. We did add a couple details that were not in the original estimate, but the additional cost was consistent with the hourly rate - they did not use the additions as an opportunity to gauge. Patrick and Ted were very professional and worked well as a team. They prepped everything carefully before ever lifting the paint brush. They taped plastic and carefully used blue painter's masking tape to protect the windows. They sanded and primed the barge rafters and wood frames thoroughly before painting. The window frames were painted yellow, a very difficult color due to the pigment. Patrick knew exactly where to get the high quality yellow paint needed for the job. When the sun shined on an area they had just finished painting, they put up a tarp to protect the paint from the sun and to ensure that it cured properly. They put all their equipment away in our garage at night and at the end of the job, cleaned up well. A few branches of shrubs were broken during their work process, but they were moving ladders around a lot and tried genuinely to watch out for the plants. We were very pleased with the quality and timing of their work. They worked on the house consistently everyday until the job was finished. After they finished, a couple days later, Patrick called to check in to check our satisfaction with the work. He takes the quality of his work very seriously.
Description of Work: We have an old 2-story cedar shingle house in which we recently installed insulation (foam) and several double-paned windows. We needed several cedar shingles painted, the exterior fiber-glass frames of at least 10 new double-paned windows, and the wood frames of at least four additional windows painted. The barge rafters on the second story also needed to be sanded, primed and painted. The work required a lot of ladder work and climbing up between bamboo and a fig tree to reach the exterior wall where the windows were located.

Back to the Wall Painting finished the exterior siding on a modern style art studio on my property. The siding had gone unfinished for approx 8 months as I had been unable to find a contractor who could recommend a product that sealed the cedar but did not change the color (most products shown to me altered the finish in some way). Patrick had extensive product knowledge and was able to provide me with quite a few samples, one that was perfect. In the meantime, the cedar had unevenly grayed and BTTWP brought it back to its original luster. The work was completed in a timely, professional manner and I am thrilled with the results. Bathroom work also went without a hitch. The finish work done by BTTWP is of extreme care ? caulk lines all perfectly smooth, paint brush strokes on trim even and smooth - help in color selection an added bonus.
