Services we don't offer
We are a general contracting firm so we partner with electrical and plumbing contractors in those specialized areas. We have longstanding strategic partnerships working with respected experts in the Seattle area. We help clients with restoration, remodeling, installing new doors, building new decks, new rooms and additions. We don't build new homes from scratch. Our focus is on residential remodeling, restoration and repairs. We have an extensive ecosystem of partners that we have worked with so we can always put you in touch with the right people to help you if our team cannot.
We had a great experience with Josh Sanderson of Azimuth Works Inc. Josh did an incredible job in restoring the side supports of our front entry steps. In addition to high-quality craftsmanship, he provided detailed descriptions of all work and associated costs and remained responsive, pleasant, and expeditious. We would both highly recommend and gladly work with Josh and Azimuth Works Inc again.

Azimuth worked on my house in July 2021. He installed a sliding glass door where we had a window. The final product is nice, but the process was long and 4x over his written estimate. Josh was kind to work with initially, providing my family a bid with a 15% variance incase things were harder than expected. I agreed. There was 0 communication of a “code of conduct”, an hourly rate, or any policy for change orders. The bid was the bid. Despite this being our only formal and written form of price exchanges, we were billed over 4x the max estimated price. When we questioned and disputed, we received multiple page long emails calling us fools, commenting on our integrity as people of faith, etc. The tone, anger, and commentary made me nervous for my family and well-being considering they had worked in our house. There was no written chance of scope, signed agreement for increased work or cost, no hourly rate communicated… only the original bid. We received text message updates of the project, none of which included change orders, price changes, etc. Their “team” which was mostly just the owner, who was regularly hours later than communicated and worked late, even with our kids at home and such. The owner provided us with his hourly rate and “strict code of conduct” as a screenshot AFTER the project was complete with a “by the way, this is how we operate our business” yet he did not follow most of his own code of conduct. Again, he went well over 4x the bid without any approvals or communication that the price changed. I am satisfied with the work completed, however would never work with azimuth works again. The owner seems to bully and intimidates his prospects to pay his egregious prices. Let me be clear: The work was good - we enjoy the product. The price was absolutely egregious and not even close to what was communicated and agreed upon.

Azimuth Works is an experienced, well-respected contracting firm that has built hundreds of mutually respectful relationships across Seattle. Our satisfied clients show their appreciation for the top-notch work that we consistently deliver by inviting us back, introducing us to others and posting thoughtful positive reviews. We parted ways with this former client, back in 2021, for good reason. His derogatory review intentionally misrepresents our culture, our business practices and our policies. The false claims he makes are abusive, inflammatory and not factual. For example, we have a strict code of conduct. We always engage with our clients on a mutually respectful basis. We follow an established process that includes written estimates and a service agreement. We provide daily updates on status, changes, any additional work required and any cost impact. In this case, we were engaged to integrate a sliding door into an older home. After removing windows, we found structural problems. There was insufficient framing and a lot more carpentry work was required. The impact on the project cost was made clear during daily updates, which the client acknowledged via text. Instead of acting responsibly, this client actually expanded scope in other areas. He engaged our team, in bad faith, then broke his commitment to our standard terms, which we always present in writing. Ultimately, was only able to provide a partial payment on a significant balance due. Our mutually respectful clients only engage with our firm when they can afford to pay for the services that are required. When there are unexpected changes, we're always happy to set up payments for trustworthy clients. From the beginning, this client did not engage our team in good faith. We always do our best to provide services to the Seattle community. We only engage in mutually respectful relationships with trustworthy clients. We truly appreciate all of the clients that trust us to do great work and consistently treat us with courtesy.

I am very happy with the work that Josh did to repair and restore the front porch on my 1912 house in Greenwood, Seattle. He listened carefully and consulted with me throughout the process, tailoring the project to accomplish and improve upon my vision. He framed and installed reclaimed antique windows, which I found and purchased, that really match the period of the house and look beautiful! He also hand-selected Douglas-fir tongue-and-groove decking materials to replace the rotting Doug-fir planks, prepared and finished them for long-term durability, and advised me on how to maintain them in the future. Last but not least - he vastly improved the stability and structure of the porch by adding additional pillar supports and framing to the floor. I highly recommend Josh to anyone looking for true craftsmanship.

In early fall 2022, we hired contractor Josh Sanderson of Azimuth Works for an exterior window and deck restoration project and had a very negative experience. Initially the project seemed to go well. We signed onto a bid that provided low- and high-end estimates of labor and material costs. Only part way into the project, however, we received an invoice that, together with the deposit, equaled the high-end estimate for the entire project. We were very surprised by the invoice since the project was not near completion. We also had unsettling interactions with Mr. Sanderson just before and during the new billing. The first occurred earlier on the day before receiving the new invoice. In a conversation about how work was progressing and our desire to have more priority given to our project, the contractor began shouting insults while on our property and continuing as he got into his car. We tried to lower the tension level with appeals for reasonable dialogue to no avail. Two days after we received the invoice, at 6:30 in the morning, while it was still dark out, we were awakened by a police officer at our door informing us Mr. Sanderson allegedly had tried that morning to remove the stack of boards (which hadn't yet been installed) from our porch. Later that same morning, we received an email threatening a lawsuit unless we paid the invoice immediately. This occurred even though we had communicated the day before to Mr. Sanderson that we were reviewing the invoice. Note, for clarification: We had discussed modest additions to the scope of restoration. Only one of those ideas, a strip of wood around the outside of the porch, had been completed, and was included in the new bill. Other potential additions did not and could not factor into the billing since no work had been applied to them. We paid the remaining bill although the work was far from complete. We wanted to have no more dealings with this contractor. We would like to emphasize that clients have the right to review and question billing and other work-related issues without having the threat of lawsuits and other intimidating actions aimed at them. Looking back, we regret we did not research the reviews and complaints on consumer sites, such as Yelp, Angie, and the Better Business Bureau before starting the project.
Description of Work: If the project had been completed (it wasn't), work would have included exterior window and deck restoration. (Note, in the cost section below, the amount listed was supposed to be the cost for the entire project. We estimate 1/3 of the project had been completed when we were billed for the high end of the bid for the total project.)

This derogatory, misleading review is not factual. It illustrates why our firm had to end this project, for good reason. Azimuth Works is an experienced, well-respected contracting firm. We have an established process that we consistently follow for the mutual benefit of our clients e.g. We have a strict code of conduct and we always engage with our clients on a mutually respectful basis. Also, we always provide written estimates, with clearly stated terms, that the client must approve e.g. We do not offer fixed bids. We bill based on actual time and materials. We have a well-earned reputation for service excellence across the city. Our clients like the way that we do business. On this project, we followed our standard engagement process. Mrs. Nothman approved our written estimate and terms. As the project progressed, Mrs Nothman was consistently polite and professional. Unfortunately, her husband's unreasonable and inappropriate behavior eventually derailed the project. For example, when the couple requested additional scope, we estimated that this would increase their project cost by 40%. Upon their approval, we purchased additional materials. When a client wants to change scope, we're always happy to accommodate. When it came time to settle their balance due, [Member Name Removed] also mischaracterized standard engagement terms that are well documented in writing for all of our clients. [Member Name Removed] has also done this in his review. He also delayed payment for work and materials that had already been provided. When a client behaves inappropriately much less engages our firm this way, in bad faith, we reserve the right to disengage. We always do our best to provide services to the Seattle community. When we do rarely have an unpleasant interaction like this, we truly appreciate all of the thoughtful clients that trust us to do great work and consistently treat us with courtesy. Azimuth Works Inc

We recently contracted Josh to assemble a murphy bed for us. He originally estimated the job to take about 3 hours and ended up taking 5, but that is probably more due to the complexity of the assembly than his lack in skills. I came to check up on him 3 times, including one time to see if he wanted some coffee that I was making. On the third time, after I asked how much time he thought was remaining (as he was already 2 hours over the time he estimated on the phone), he very rudely told me to go away and leave him in peace. He told me that he was here to do me a favor (despite charging on the high end), and that he didn't care what I had to say, he was going to finish the job. As he appeared to be just a few screws away from completing the work, I left it alone. This behavior was at odds with how he acted previously, so this alone would not have prompted the low review. After he finished his work, I shook his hand and thanked him. Then I told him that some of his earlier communication was unprofessional. He proceeded to interrupt me mid-sentence, and went on a long tirade about how he used to work at AWS, and how I should be grateful to him for having created certain high-tech products there. He also assumed that I work there, which I do not, but found very weird. He was completely unwilling to have any kind of productive discussion on the topic, instead talking over me and walking away while I was mid-sentence and trying to clear up any misunderstanding between us. From other reviews it sounds like this is unusually unprofessional behavior, so definitely take this review with a grain of salt. Maybe he was having a bad day, but that doesn't excuse his behavior. I should also mention that he left 3 large, black marks on our ceiling and didn't mention it. We'll be able to get them off with soap, but again, this was pretty unprofessional.

We have an established reputation for service excellence, top notch work and professionalism. We've built hundreds of mutually respectful client relationships. At Azimuth Works, we always engage with clients on a mutually respectful basis. We look forward to working with customers who reciprocate that courtesy. One of the most important ways that we meet new clients is by taking on smaller projects. Sometimes, however, it does expose our team to unreasonable people. We make sure that our engagement terms are crystal clear. For example, we do not offer fixed bids. We bill clients based on tracking actual time, materials and expenses. In this case, a first-time client on a small project created an unpleasant work environment. When this happens, our firm reserves the right to disengage. This derogatory review was posted shortly after we had to cut the project short. Based on our many great reviews, it is clear that our clients appreciate the services we provide. They are gracious, courteous and thank us for our help. By phone, this person was polite and reasonable. During our texts about engagement terms, he responded with "Sounds Good!" In contrast, his behavior upon arrival was neurotic, disruptive, unreasonable and dramatic. Over the first 3-4 hours, he checked in 7-8 times. This created a lot of expensive overhead. We explained that we can not work with clients who engage in disruptive, overbearing behavior. We wrapped up the project. We provided our invoice and departed without further interaction. This derogatory complaint includes multiple false claims. For example, we did not offer a fixed bid estimate and we certainly did not cause any damage in the apartment. Our efforts to follow up on this review to work things out only led to further unreasonable drama. We do our best to serve everyone in the community. When we rarely have an unpleasant interaction, we truly appreciate all of the great clients that trust us to do great work and consistently treat us with courtesy. Azimuth Works

It went GREAT! I gave him an overly generous tip. THEN, a bad review put him into a "temper tantrum." He kept texting me, emailing me about this review. I TOLD him I hated Angi. He gave me the link to post to the site. Which I did! I expressed how I felt about ANGI!! It became an OBVIOUS problem when he CONTINOUSLY wanted to come over and amend the review on MY PERSONAL COMPUTER! I don't let others navigate my computer. I may be a cripple but I'm STILL a computer ****. He even HARASSED me to come over when I told him I was in excruciating pain and had to go to the doctor. He wanted to know when he could come over!!! I literally told him to, "Back OFF!" He said it was his business. I told him, well this is my Life, livelihood & health. That I was NOT going back to the ER for his stupid review. IF, Josh Sanderson wants to be a Businessman, he needs to ACT LIKE ONE! It's SCARY to THINK these are business boys, today. I felt like I was coaching a high schooler how to manage public relations. He kept wanting to, "one UP," me!?!? Honestly, stay away. Unless, you're used to dealing with children. IF, you don't give him the rating HE WANTS... HE'LL harass you, day and night, in excruciating pain, and illness. He will email you a storm IF he doesn't get through to you. I guarantee that's about to happen to me. I HAD to BLOCK him on my phone. I have REAL problems to deal with, like learning to walk again & stay out of the ER. He DOESN'T GET IT, STILL! IT'S SHAMEFUL! It would be a good business if you could deal with grown ups. I may need to issue a restraining order. I HOPE he takes me seriously, NOW!

Somehow, this person got mixed up and mistakenly left a derogatory review *for another company* on our page. We escalated this to ANGI asking them to help. We alerted this person that there was a problem and offered to help. ANGI support tried to assist. When we offered to assist, our outreach was misinterpreted. We disengaged completely. The following evening, this person contacted us saying that the issue had been fixed. When we responded saying there was still an issue, this person became upset. Then this derogatory review was posted. We would never engage in harassment. We are conscientious, service-oriented professionals who work hard to provide excellent service and help others.
We recently completed our fourth remodeling project working with Azimuth Works. They do excellent work. Josh and his team are easy to work with. Great communication. We have also gotten great consultations on colors, materials and other things. So far they've installed a sliding door, built us a new patio and restored our fence. We're having them build us a pergola next. Highly recommend their team.

I will not be working with Mr. Josh Sanderson again nor recommend his services. Since he completed a fence project, he has: - Threatened a lawsuit for writing online reviews about his business that weren’t to his satisfaction - Engaged in name-calling of his customer, saying I was “an unruly child” - Continues to use intimidation tactics by saying that I am not allowed to pay my final invoice (which I’ve requested 3 times now) Direct quotes I’ve received to my email account and my wife’s phone: “In the meantime, you may not take any further action including paying your bill or posting reviews online that will only reflect further on your poor judgment in handling this as our neighbor. “ “If these fake reviews are not taken down today there will need to be legal action taken. This is harassment.” “This has been like dealing with an unruly child. This review needs to be taken down. It's not even factual.” In July 2021, Mr. Sanderson completed repairing the lattice work of a fence shared with our next door neighbor. I politely expressed concern over the final labor invoice and offered to meet in-person from the very beginning. That’s when the trouble began, with Mr. Sanderson accusing me of misinterpreting his words and avoiding my question of why an estimate or bid was not created for a nearly $7K fence job for the top half of our shared fence. In the middle of the back and forth communication, our neighbor paid her half of the invoice. Realizing this was not getting anywhere and mysteriously not hearing from Josh for 4 days after he asked to meet in-person, I asked for our updated invoice reflecting 1/2 of the final costs and telling him that I would be writing reviews of my poor experience with his business. That’s when the intimidation tactics and threats began: “In the meantime, you may not take any further action including paying your bill or posting reviews online that will only reflect further on your poor judgment in handling this as our neighbor.“ Now, Mr. Sanderson is claiming I was never a client, despite my name being on every invoice as well as paying the 1st materials invoice of over $1,000 in full and then getting reimbursed half of that amount by our neighbor via Venmo. He’s also claiming he is “our neighbor”; that is news to me, as I do not believe he is a permanent resident next door but has completed 4 projects with our neighbor. He’s unfortunately also gotten our next door neighbor involved, who I had no dispute with, to send us threatening communications about legal action: “If these fake reviews are not taken down today there will need to be legal action taken. This is harassment.” This erratic behavior is concerning, troubling and I would never wish it on any customer of a contractor. After posting the review, my wife began to receive emails from Mr. Sanderson: “This has been like dealing with an unruly child. This review needs to be taken down. It's not even factual.” Mr. Sanderson has also claimed that my online review is some kind of negotiation tactic for our billing dispute, despite the fact that I have asked 3 times for my 1/2 of the total invoice that he requested without any sort of discount. He continues to withhold this invoice - due to so many mentions of legal action, I imagine it’s yet another intimidation tactic to silence my experience with Mr. Sanderson and his company. I understand that for a business owner that negative reviews are challenging to hear, but to threaten lawsuits and withhold the ability to pay what we owe in full is an extremely unprofessional response from a business owner. I certainly don’t want to enter into any kind of work with a contractor who thinks a lawsuit is any way to respond to a negative review. My hope is that Mr. Sanderson come to his senses, apologize for his extremely unprofessional behavior and attempt to resolve this conflict without intimidation tactics, threats of lawsuits, and continued twisting of the truth in his communications. It's all quite unfortunate and I've never had an experience like this with any service provider. I continue to remain hopeful that Mr. Sanderson can learn from this experience that his behavior is absolutely unacceptable but to date, I've yet to see any indication that he wishes to resolve this conflict without using legal threats and demands.

This reviewer is not actually a client of Azimuth Works. None of what has been posted here ever actually happened. For example, a quick review of the BBB page for our company shows that, in fact, there is no complaint available. The BBB closed the complaint after we demonstrated that this man was engaged in deceitful, online harassment. This fraudulent review has been updated several times with even more outrageous claims. This and other reviews left on other sites are part of a deliberate effort to damage our firm's reputation that are not based on fact. We don't have misunderstandings like this with our actual clients. This man is not a client yet he has repeatedly posted defamatory language in an extra effort to try to slander our company. The attacks have now become personal. Our team provides impeccable service as can be seen from our many positive reviews online. We don't engage in misrepresentation, threats or harassment. We are service-oriented professionals. This review has mischaracterized every aspect of how this project was conducted. This man is a neighbor of our client, who has already provided a review for us here. We have now worked with her on five successful projects. Our client engaged us to restore the fence that she shares with her neighbor. They agreed to split the cost. We were not a party to that arrangement. Our client has paid our company in full. We hope that her neighbor will acknowledge the inappropriate nature of their behavior and take down this fraudulent review. Our team has consistently acted with professionalism and made every effort to help resolve this matter. Making false claims and engaging in online harassment like this is illegal. It is not an appropriate way to resolve any misunderstanding. Azimuth Works Inc Licensed General Contractor Seattle WA 98112

I’m very pleased with Azimuth Works, and will hire them for additional upcoming jobs. Briefly, Azimuth Works was responsive, punctual, took appropriate covid precautions, knowledgable and explained things along the way, efficient in time and thorough in their work, creatively and effectively problem solved, offered me multiple ideas for solutions (I’ve not lived in a 100 year old building before and it offers me challenges I’ve not previously encountered) and explanations about the various ideas/options. I’m excited to hire Azimuth Works for the next job in the coming days/weeks! Specifically, Azimuth Works did: Assembled a desk 28”x60” sit-stand desk, motorized, with drawers. Repaired a microwave cart that had been assembled incorrectly by someone else. Assessed what options I have for curtain rod installation based on the wall structure in this 100 year old building.
Josh worked it perfectly even pleasing my nice but demanding female partner. It took a lot of work to get this ceiling light hung just right over the dining room table, but Josh did and was pleasant to have in the house too.
Description of Work: Josh installed a very challenging ceiling light that needed his expertise to get it done. This was not an ordinary job.

Josh was very responsive, friendly and very clean with his work. He was also great at texting and letting us know when he was on his way here. Likewise. We look forward to working with you again.
My issue was a strange musty smell in the basement that was triggering my wife's allergies. I had no idea. Where Josh excelled was creative problem solving. This was a hard-to-specify problem. Josh worked collaboratively with me. He identified where the smell was strongest. He removed a cupboard and discovered an unexplained hole in the foundation wall. This turned out great because the hole was carrying wires (security, internet) which I'd long puzzled about, and thanks to Josh's discovery we could get fiber-optic internet into the house. He solved the problem by sealing up the hole. (there were also several other projects around the house). What I appreciated most was that we could do collaborative investigative work together. I was unable to give a clear up-front statement about what work was needed. It was only through Josh's investigation and collaboration that I was able to understand and state the work required, and also learn about my house.

Incredibly well. Josh was super responsive and very professional. He was also a great conversationalist, helping provide information on reasons for his choices as he worked to hang some large floating shelves in my kitchen. He came fully prepared and I'm super pleased with the results.

I was very impressed with the work Azimuth did on my house. Josh provided an accurate estimate, completed the work on time, and finished at the low-end of our budget. The work was very high quality and we are very pleased with the results. We will definitely be looking to hire Azimuth again for future projects!

Terrific. Azimuth Works is ideal. Skill coupled with the right tools and right attitude. It's done once, and it's done. What a refreshing change. I had a plumbing project go awry, and Josh Sanderson acted as my advocate: everything was corrected at no additional cost to me!!!
Thanks. I am glad we could help you navigate through the challenges that plumber created and get things back on track. It's been a pleasure working with you and we're glad that you are happy.
