I was very satisfied with them. Their pricing was on a higher end but I felt there was a fair value. The quality of their work was very good. They were very responsive, punctual and professional.

It went really well. The plumber was knowledgeable and professional.
Description of Work: The dishwasher was not draining well. I hired someone (a friend of a friend) to fix it for $100 but shortly later, the problem recurred. I contacted the person for 3 weeks but he did not return my calls. Aurora Plumbing figured out the problem right away (the drain hose) and fixed it.

Because I wanted to make sure that the bathtub was solid when it was in place, I had read the manufacturers installation instructions online. Their instructions said to use mortar to install the tub. The plumbers who came out said, oh no, that's not necessary. So I had to print it out and show it to them. They then agreed to use mortar. Other than that, they did a good job.
Description of Work: They installed a new bathtub.

I contacted Aurora Plumbing on Friday March 2, 2012. I needed somebody to come and repair my kitchen sink. The sink has a leak and I have had to shut the water off and I let them know that I am without use of the sink. They let me know that nobody was available on that day and the next available date was Wednesday March 7. I said that was fine. They said that I could also go on standby incase somebody cancelled so that I could get the sink repaired sooner if possible. On Tuesday March 6 I called to confirm the Wednesday appointment on and found that not only did I not have an appointment for Wednesday March 7 but they had no record of my contacting them. I not only called them Friday March 2 but also had sent an e-mail using their contact us link on their website. I find their adminstrative depart to be an epic fail. When I tried to confirm the appointment they let me know in no uncertain terms that they felt the fault was mine for not understanding that wanting to be on standby would eliminate any appointment and that the standby was only for a day and that after that I would completely fall off their radar. Now I am still without my kitchen sink and have to startall over again with another plumber.

We originally called Aurora Plumbing about fixing a broken toilet and replacing some shower fixtures. Steve came to our home to evaluate what was needed. It turned out the toilet was not a stock item, and the parts had to be specially ordered. A few weeks went by, and our hot water heater stopped working. We were told by another company the motor was broken, but that we would need to order it online directly from the manufacturer. So the next morning we called Aurora Plumbing to see what they could do for us. They found the motor from a local distributor, saving us time and shipping costs. Steve came the same day with a new toilet (which we decided to go with instead of waiting for parts), the shower fixtures, and our water heater motor. He worked very quickly and efficiently, installing everything in a few hours. We had a question for Steve the next day. He answered it to our satisfaction. Brian (the owner) called to follow up, which we felt was excellent customer service. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Aurora Plumbing and would highly recommend their services to anyone.
Description of Work: The company took care of a water heater repair, shower head and faucet replacements, and the installation of a new toilet.

We had an intermittent leak seemingly from a drain pipe, but it wasn't clear where the drain pipe was coming from. Steve was able to deduce that the drain pipe was an old one, probably cut off and behind a wall. It didn't make sense that it was leaking, until he figured out that the other drain pipe connected to the sink was draining very slowly, so that at times, it would back up into the old, presumably cut off but maybe not capped, drain pipe. Steve suggested using some enzymes down the sink for a while to help improve drainage and therefore prevent back-up. And to get into the wall to inspect the old presumably cut-off drain pipe. Since it is such a slow and intermittent leak, I decided to leave it at that and investigate further after trying the enzymes

AURORA PLUMBING & ELECTRIC Aurora Plumbing & Electric, was able to come the same day I called, was very efficient and very quick. What I didn't like was that they were some what expensive. I had a list that needed to be done from the inspector, there were 3 items with the water heater, one was a valve needed to be covered, two was the water tank needed to be secured. The only thing he did was put on the earthquake strap and said that we didn't need to do the valve. So, when the inspector came back to check it out, he said the valve was still missing that the plumber was incorrect and he shook the water heater and it was not secured properly. We had to go purchase the valve, put it on ourselves and brought 2x4's and secured the water heater. We were on a time line, because we were selling the house.
Description of Work: AURORA PLUMBING & ELECTRIC We used Aurora Plumbing & Electric, about a month ago to install earthquake straps to the water heater to bring it up to code.

made sure they understood the job and had right materials before they came so I did not pay for their research time. Was very efficient, about 45 minutes and it was in and working. And it looked nice and solved all my concerns about not interfering with my other water appliances. Very professional and knowledge. And this was one I had moved from another home and required unusual knowledge. They had it.

We actually have had a couple of calls from Aurora. Overall, they are excellent. We have an older home and the drains backed up. They came out very quickly and cleaned the drain. We have big-pipes-go-into-smaller-pipes problems, which will naturally back up again as oils and goop collects in the pipes so the gentleman who came left us a product that is advertised to encourage natural biological decomposition... There's no control on the experiment, but I absolutely appreciated the option to avoid further calls to snake out clogs. His explanations were very clear and helpful. Then, separately, we had been planning on replacing the hot water heater, which was quite old. Our kitchen sink pressure dropped to nothing so we had them out. They pretty quickly figured out that there were plastic particles from a disintegrating "dip tube" (http://www.ronhazelton.com/tips/faulty_water_heater_dip_tube_-_diagnosis_and_replacement). So, fuel was added to the fire for getting rid of the water heater. A nice gentleman came out and did an estimate. He was clearly an old pro (partially retired, just doing estimates). We talked over the various options for placement, he was totally authoritative about price, etc. We got an estimate on a tankless heater. The total bill was $3900, which included a pretty good day's work, removing the old heater, etc. They kept to the bill. In and out in a day. The only thing that went wrong was they hadn't noticed that there were no convenient electrical outlets, but that was not a big deal. Based on the cost of these sorts of heaters, we paid a pretty decent premium for the installation. But, we got a good outcome in return, so I'm overall very satisfied with the results. The entire process was no muss, no fuss... Subsequently, the sink stopped working again. I called in to get another visit and, instead, got a quick consultation that avoided being charged for another visit. They were super-nice and very focused on not ringing up a visit that was not necessary. (They said that the plastic from the dip tube can take time to work out of your system. It was fairly easy to flush the sink... I'd hesitated because it wasn't clear that the tip of the faucet unscrewed. So, they gave me the confidence to crank it hard enough to get it to unscrew.)

Brian arrived on time from Aurora Plumbing. We had shopped at Aurora Plumbing for parts but never used their service department before this job. Their price was competitive. Most people rate Aurora Plumbing (and others) a B in price, I gave them an A because it was fair and competitive. I believe most people give them a B in price because ALL plumbing is expensive unless you use someone who is not licensed, insured or fully trained. Some jobs.... it may be okay to use a handyman and save money, but we really needed a trained and experienced person. Our plumbing was 40 to 50 years old and needed updating. Brian at Auroral Plumbing did an outstanding job for us. Like many others on Angies List, I recommend Aurora Plumbing.
Description of Work: Replaced our old sink and faucet with the new sink and faucet we had purchsed. Replaced old dishwasher with new dishwasher we had purchased. Updated (corrected) plumbing under sink for new dishwasher and sink-faucet. Corrected plumbing behind old dishwasher. Replaced old leaking water line to Refrigerator with an improved water line. Fixed leak in bathroom. Hauled away old dishwasher. Brian also offered to haul away our old sink and faucet, but they were still in good condition so we donated them to charity.

Contacted them on 12/5/11 and they got back to me on 12/7/11. They were nice and were able to give an extimate for Water heater replacement. They were NOT chosen because they charge by hour. Which means that they could be cheaper than some companies, but if you have a slow tech or you ask questions or any complication that price could far exceed other bids. It is NOT a risk I choose to take financially for a simple water heater install. You are not given a set bid and that is what it is - it is based on hourly rates

Aurora Plumbing does not "Flat Rate" or "Contract Price" jobs. Flat Rating a job has it's price based on a "worst-case scenario", meaning the client is paying for the job as if that installation was the most difficult. Our plumbers are not paid on commission, so we don't surprise our clients with added items or "pad" a job. We do not think this is fair to the client, and we have never subscribed to this method of billing. Our invoices are completely transparent. We completely understand that not having a definite price set before the job starts can cause uneasiness in some clients, but our experience has been that nearly 100% of our clients that have chosen us over a Flat Rate competitor, have found our final bill was considerably lower than estimates they had received. Aurora Plumbing's most important mission is to have completely satisfied clients, as you will see by our rating on Angie's List. We always strongly suggest that consumers educate themselves on "Flat Rate" vs. "Time and Materials" methods of billing, and regardless of what company they may choose, we hope they get the best quality, and the best deal available.

The plumber arrived in a labeled truck but without uniform and did not offer to show his ID. He showed it when I asked but given stories you hear about workers not being who they say they are, I think he should have at a minimum a shirt with the company name on it. Aside from that, he was very professional and helpful, did not laugh at me for the stupidity of the noise source - obviously if we had only winterized our outside faucet, we would have found the problem ourselves - and did a fine job replacing the faucet assembly and clearing out my bathtub drain. He completed the work in less than half an hour - it took almost as long to write up the invoice as it did to do the actual work (why do they always make these invoices so difficult for the workers?). Price was about what I would expect for a service call and parts.
Description of Work: We had a strange noise coming from our kitchen sink - also had a leaky faucet and plugged drain. The plumber evaluated the noise and found the source (someone had left an outside spigot on and the pressure buildup was causing the noise...) and quickly and efficiently fixed the other two small problems.

I had a leak under my sink and my faucet needed to be replaced because it was a cheaper one when I moved in 15 years ago and so I got a new faucet. It was expensive. I had them here to redo my bathroom 15 years ago and that’s the biggest thing I had done by them. They were efficient and I was well satisfied. I haven’t had that much done over the years except these odds and ends. The one I had four months ago was my sink. I opted for a more expensive faucet because eventually when I sell the house it was a plus factor. I could have gone for a cheaper one but I wanted to make sure the house was in good shape. I was satisfied with the plumbing work but whenever I have used them it is more expensive. It would be nice to find someone who is equally good and not as expensive. I use Angie’s List to see who people think are great but not top line expensive. They do good plumbing but it is more expensive. Normally I am in an emergency situation and I go to them because I know they would come right out. This was an emergency situation and I had some previous experience with them but if I had another deal going I would go to Angie’s and look for plumbing and make a decision. I used them for emergency because I know they would come right out.

The plumber was terrific and fantastic. The price was $400 for his services. He showed up immediately at the time that he was supposed to come. He diagnosed the problem very quickly. He had all the parts he needed in his truck. He gave me an accurate quote and got the job done within a couple of hours. The price didn’t seem like a bargain but it was fair.

Would highly recommend them again. We had a leaky dripping faucet and toilets that would continue to run. Their estimates are done onsite by Bob. He's very knowledgeable and a fun guy to talk to. He pretty much sold me on choosing Aurora Plumbing & Electric. Brian did all the work. He was very prompt, tidy and the work he did was high quality. Our electrician later commented on how good he thought the plumber did. [side note - Brian is a smoker and, while he never smoked in our house, I did notice the smell of cigarette smoke in the rooms he worked in if he had recently come in from a smoke break.] The saying "you get what you pay for" is very applicable in this case. Aurora was not our low bid, but they did a very professional job. I must not be the only one who thinks that because I get the impression Aurora can be picky about the jobs they take on. They only do free estimates on Mondays through Wednesdays (if you want an estimate on a Thursday or Friday you have to pay for a service visit). And I want to say their non-emergency work takes place during set hours (8-4?), so no meeting with the plumber early and then dashing off to work without having to use vacation. Aside from the impression that they didn't really need my business, they were friendly, timely, professional, did high quality work, and charged exactly what they said they would. Good experience overall.
Description of Work: Replace old galvanized steel water supply lines with new pex piping throughout most of house (kitchen, bathroom, utility sink, washing machine, hot water heater). Also installed tub/shower combo for new clawfoot tub and installed pedestal sink and faucet.
