Very smooth. It couldn't have gone better. I used the Angie's List coupon which brought the bill down to $46.00. It would have been cheaper but I opted for having an aerator put on the faucet. Joel was really excellent! He listened, he diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes and quickly fixed it ! AND he left the work area as he found it (no water mess or grime). He even wore shoe covers in the house! The whole transaction took 20 minutes and would've been less if I had remembered to tell him I had a coupon before he tallied the bill. He was even cool about that. I would definitely recommend this company and use them again on big and little jobs.
Description of Work: Called Aurora Plumbing because the hot water side of the kitchen faucet was not functioning at all. Joel showed up right on time and fixed it within 15 minutes. He replaced the supply line on the hot water side which was completely obstructed.

The quality of work is good and the work is done per WAC 51-56-0500, 508.14
Description of Work: The new "Rheem" direct vent 50-gallon natural gas water heater was quoted at $1,170 plus parts and labor. Aurora Plumbing removed my old 50-gal "Standard" direct vent 50-gallon water heater and installed the new unit in the same location. While cutting the cardboard box containing the Rheem water heater the plumber's helper lost control of the box and it fell over onto the driveway. No damage was observed on the exterior of the water tank. The tank is guaranteed for six years. The plumber and helper arrived at my house without proper equipment to hold and cut pipe. The plumber held steel pipe in his hands while the helper attempted to cut the pipe with a reciprocating saw. I told them to use my work bench and vise. I also provided a saw horse and clamp for further pipe cutting. Their electrical extension cord had the third prong cut off. Labor charge was excessive, $55.00/each 15 minutes interval plus tax.. They even billed me the labor charge of $110.00 plus tax to fill out the invoice at the conclusion of the site work. Their invoice had my name misspelled. No detail was provided as to what was purchased. Not all materials were put on the invoice yet my credit card was charged an additional $219.00 plus tax for material that they forgot to write on the invoice. My credit card was billed $2743.31. After discussions with the service manager, written letters, and discussions with the store manager I was credited the labor costs for invoice preparation. A new invoice was prepared stating the type of water heater purchased, details of all materials used, and the corrected labor charges, and revised total amount. Also, my name was correctly spelled on the revised invoice.

Overall, this was a bad experience. I called Aurora plumbing and Electric and told them that I wanted a "T" in my water line with a shut off valve so I could install a sprinkler system. When speaking to the scheduler, I told her that I had already dug the hole to expose the water line, and asked her if she would like me to email her pictures of what I had going on so the plumber knew what needed to be done. She said this was not necessary, and that the plumber comes with a fully stocked truck, and could complete the task. When the plumber arrived, he looked into the hole, and grumbled that he would have to work in a hole and that nobody ever tells him what type of job he will be doing (I didn't say a thing, despite having offered to email pictures of the job). He told me it looked like he didn't have the right size or type of pieces to complete the job. He came up with a plan as to how he wanted to do it, told me where he was going to put the "T" and shut off valve. He turned off the water main, and I drained all the water from the line. He then said he would have to go back to the shop to pick up the pieces (by the way- their website indicated that if the plumbing item they needed wasn't on the truck (if it was a common item), they wouldn't charge you for the time to pick up that item up from their shop. I would think that a "T" and a shut off where a common item, but apparently, they are not since I was charged for this time). He drove away in his truck and came back about 10 minutes later. When he got back, he told me that as he was driving, he realized that the exposed pipe was too close to the water main. The pipe was about 4 feet away, and we needed to be 6 feet away (unfortunately, 6 feet away was under a tree). I located the City of Seattle's phone number from my water Bill, and we called to verify this was the case (which it was). He then recommended that I not call a plumber to locate where to find the pipe further down the line because plumbers were too expensive. He told me to call "American Leak Detection" to locate the pipe because that was cheaper. I called them, and they told me their minimum charge to even come out was about $200. (I instead went down to Aurora Rents, and rented a pipe detector for about $35, and found the pipe within about 10 minutes- I don't know why the plumber didn't know about this type of equipment). At any rate, the plumber from Aurora Plumbing and electric took 30 minutes from the time he arrived to the time he left to tell me he couldn't do any work for me. This should have taken no more than 5 minutes. Unfortunately, they charged $75 for the first 15 minutes, and $40 for every 15 minutes after that, so it was $115 charge to tell me that my pipe was too close to the water main (this probably should have been free had the pictures been emailed to them in advance). I tried calling the owner of Aurora plumbing and electric 3 times to let him know about this experience, but his voice mail box was full. I then went in person to talk, but he wasn't there that time either. I finally decided to just posted this review here. We ended up having the work done by Top Gun Plumbing instead, and the whole job took about 30 minutes to complete.
Description of Work: Came to install a "T" on water line to house, and a shut off valve. Ultimately, did not do any work.

I had been avoiding these two repairs for months. Serious plumbing avoidance . Aurora guy came out and fixed both problems in a matter of minutes? which at first made me feel silly- I mean, IF I knew what I was doing, Could I have fixed this?? However, I realized that it was due to the Aurora guys years of accumulated experience and well stocked truck (he had the exact thingamagiggy necessary for repair on hand) that the repairs went so fast and so smooth. Way to go!

Brain did a great job. Thanks to everyone at Aurora Plumbing.
Description of Work: We used Aurora Plumbing last year and we called them again this year because of their excellent service last time. We requested Brian because he did a great job for us last time and waited for him to be available. I am certain that their other plumbers would do a great job too, but we decided to wait for Brian. Aurora Plumbing was scheduled for a 8:30am start and Brian arrived at 8:29. We had a Roman bath faucet that needed to be replaced. The access to the plumbing was fair at best. I had ordered the replacement faucet myself because it was an old finish that is no longer available locally. Brian had to make some modifications for everything to work correctly. The work quality is excellent. We paid $622 after using our $50 coupon. I rated the price as A because it is average for plumbing and plumbing is always expensive. I look at it as an investment in our home. It is better to pay a fair price and know the quality of the work is outstanding. I will call Aurora Plumbing again when we are ready for our next service. Thanks to everyone at Aurora Plumbing.

I comparison shopped for estimates among five providers, and Aurora Plumbing had the best price among the top Angie's List providers; they offer a $50 discount to Angie's List members. I was very happy with Joel - his knowleldge and way he explained all possibilities of the problem, and how he answered all our questions. It had taken him about 30 minutes to fix the toilet, and when he was finished I remembered that in our upstairs bathroom there were two sinks that had stoppers that were not sealing correctly. He spent about 20 more minutes fixing that problem, too. I was very happy overall, and I think we received very good service for the price. I would hire Aurora again.
Description of Work: We had been having trouble with the downstairs toilet overflowing, (interestingly none of the upstairs ones) about one out of every six flushes. Joel snaked the toilet, and replaced and adjusted three worn out mechanisms in the tank. (He did not find any big obstruction, though.) After asking questions and conversting about the possible problem, it appeared that cause of the slow flush might be in the faulty setting of the grade of the toilet in relationship to the street sewer connection. However, Joel thought that we should not have any more problems - if we did, we would probably need to buy an air pressure toilet, to compensate for the grading problem. Time will tell, but after he tested the flushing about 12 times, I am reasonable sure the problem is fixed.

Description of Work: Manager Brian Dressel was great, taking time to explain a potential down sides of plumbing work I had inquired about. Sewer backed up into laundry sink-- Jaimie and Ben were very responisve and kept me well informed along the way They explained options and what the approximate cost would be. The price seems fair when I talk to others as I had to have yard dug up, outlet pipe installed to access clog. Next on my list to to take out the bush who's roots attacked my plumbing. Only delay I had was waiting for city inspection of work. Ben was able to give me a $100 discount for Angies list instead of the $50 one I found. I will use Aurora Plumbing again

Wasn't happy with either plumber that came out, and had to call another firm. HOWEVER, the owner of the firm stands by his company and gave me my money back. That changed my view of the firm. I'd give them a shot again.
Description of Work: After my original review was written laying out the problems that I had, I received a call from the owner of the firm. He said he was shocked at what happened to me, apologized, and refunded the money I had spent. The previous review (summarized below, shortened from the original): I had a sewer that blocked up occasionally and rather than do the Roto-Rooter thing again, contacted Aurora Plumbing to fix the problem. Their service tech said he could not access the floor drain (as Roto Rooter always had), and had to remove a toilet. He then went out to 90' (he said), and said the blockage was 90' away. Didn't fix it - sewer still clogged up. He said he could schedule another plumber from Aurora to video the line to see the problem the next morning for $200. He gave me a very high price on the quotation. I opted not to proceed, and hired another firm at a much lower price.

Price was rated F because they charged me $11 to ship a little box weighing less than a pound from Seattle to LA - Quality was F because the part I bought consists of two pieces, the base and a decorative cap, but when I placed the order, no one told me that Aurora sells the two pieces separately. Consequently, they shipped only one half of the part, and I was left with an incomplete part when it arrived. Responsiveness was F because when I telephoned six days after the order was placed to check the delivery schedule, they couldn’t find the order in the computer and promised to call back later in the morning. No one ever called back - Punctuality was B because it took a week to arrive. Professionalism was F because I should have been told, upon ordering the part, that I need to place a separate order for the decorative cap, and when I called later to inquire they wanted to charge me another $11 to ship an even smaller box weighing less than the previous one. Also, no invoice was enclosed in or affixed to the box, and when I informed them of this, they did not offer to send one. I guess I should have insisted on an invoice, but by that point I just wanted to be done with the transaction.
Description of Work: I ordered a plumbing part over the phone, to be delivered by mail.

I joined Angie List after noticing had a leak that was flooding underneath my bathroom sink, The first company I called no showed me. Desperate because i already took the day off, and the water was getting worst!! I called Aurora plumbing at almost 12;30 in the afternoon, The girl on the phone was amazingly friendly and reassured they could help, and someone would be calling me back, I was kinda reluctant not to keeping dailing another plumber, but I waited, in less the 5 mins, someone did call me back, and said someone would be at my home within the hour,..Door bell rang in less then 30mins!! WOW! Jamie showed up was professional, and considering the position I was in, I kinda expected to be taken advantage of, I mean I did call last minute in a Emergency state of mind. Not only did Jamie tell me quickly that he knows what the problem was, He fixed it quickly, and the price was beyond fair!! PLUS $50.00's off with Angie's List Coupon, This is exactly what I expected a Plumber to act like that I found on Angie's List. I will keep Aurora Plumbing as my families only plumber, Thanks Jamie, Aurora Plumbing and Angie's List!

It took two trips and two separate plumbers. The first guy worked from the inside of the toilet, used an auger, which scratched the bowl significantly, claimed the problem was fixed after flushing 10X. But with the first use of the toilet, the problem was back. A call to the company showed them to be very responsive, and they offered to return the same evening, but we requested a next-morning visit instead. Meanwhile, I (female half of a couple) researched the symptoms on the Internet and learned the symptoms described a likely venting problem. When the second plumber arrived, he first checked with a scope and camera for obstructions in the vent pipes, and finding none, determined the problem must be in the toilet itself. When he took up the bowl and checked the vent, he located the object that had lodged there. We are happy, though we wish the bowl wasn't scratched. Other plumbing issues were also addressed, and we feel we were treated fairly in terms of the costs of repairs.
Description of Work: Toilet malfunctioning, fills OK but does not flush. Water slowly drains away but solid material is left behind in remaining water in bowl.

I called Aurora Plumbing on Thursday afternoon with a non-urgent request. My shower arm was too high - and had been for years - causing me to have difficulty reaching the showerhead. They gave me an appointment for Monday afternoon, with a 2-hour window, and said they would be sure to have different types of arms/pipes and extensions on the truck. Steve arrived exactly on time at the beginning of the 2-hour window. I showed him the shower arm and he told me he had a few options to lower the showerhead to a level acceptable to me. He came back from his truck with some supplies that would lower the arm considerably. When I told him I wasn't sure how low I wanted it until it was installed and I could see it, he said he could try a few options and see which one I liked the best! Now that's patience and good customer service! He correctly anticipated the right length of shower pipe the first time so when he installed it and put my showerhead back on there, it was perfect. He was very knowledgeable, very pleasant and positive, and worked quickly which kept the cost down. Because I was an Angie's List member, they gave me a $50 discount off the bill. I choose Aurora Plumbing mostly because of the positive reviews but also because I know they have access to so many supplies and would be able to come up with something that would meet my needs. Thank you Steve and Aurora Plumbing!

Originally they quoted me at a $1069.00. I called them for them to come out and instal the tank. I called them for them to give me a run down of what is going on. We settled on a price. The technician came out and gave me the bill. The bill was different then what was quoted. The owner called me back and made up for the mistake. The owner reimbursed me. And apologized for the mistake. My stand is he made a wrong a right. Overall I am happy with the service. The workmanship was good.

Joel arrived when expected and reviewed the problem faucet. He suggested first trying to fix the leak from the outside without cutting an access hole in the interior wall to replace the leaking hose bib, and thereby save 2-3 hours of time and materials (and wall repair, refinishing, and related spousal anguish). Gaskets at both ends of the frost-proof hose bib were replaced and the job was satisfactorily finished within one hour.
