When my house was built in Year 2004 the contractors did not automatically wire the bookshelf above the fireplace, and in fact discouraged me from doing so in favor of an alternate built in entertainment shelf already specified for the house. They said it would be "no problem" to add wiring later and it would probably not cost any more to do it later as opposed to submitting it as a change order to the new house. Manwhile, it never occurred to me to ask for a four place instead of a two place outlet on the Kitchen island. During the subsequent six years of living in the house I have concluded that both the fireplace shelf wiring and the four outlets on the kitchen island would be desireable. It seemed obvious to me that the four outlet fix should be simple but I wanted some guidance on the wiring scheme that might be advised for above the fireplace. As expected the four outlet fix was installed in good time without significant problems. The replacement hardware (a four hole plate instead of the existing two hole plate) only cost another $8.00. Regarding the bookshelf above the fireplace, the fireplace is framed at a distance on either side by sheet metal forced air ducts. These two "columns" of metal block access to running wires from existing locations on either side of the fireplace into the open space above the fireplace. Heroic efforts would apparently be needed to feed the wires and cables to that location from the crawl space under the house, and THAT would be an unusually expensive proposition. While I was disappointed to find out that this "no problem" proposal would in fact be a "big, expensive" proposal, I was nonetheless happy to get some expert advice on it. I have for now abandoned the plan to convert the space above my fireplace to an entertainment center.
Description of Work: Installed a four outlet appliance on side of kitchen island and advised me regarding what it would take to wire a bookshelf area above my fireplace for appliance outlets and computer/TV cables.

This company was very responsive. There was a slight mixup with the scheduled appointment but when I called they sent someone out immediately. The electrician was fast and very nice. He did an excellent job and I am very pleased. If I would have known that this young man was going to be so fast and efficient I would have had other projects lined up for him. Great job!
Description of Work: The electrician installed two higher end light fixtures and replaced a bad outlet. I purchased the Angies List Big deal and I think I only paid $99 for two hours of service.

It went quite well. First one member came out to check and see what I needed. He was an electrician, but the company is connected to another company that does roof and venting work, so the felling giving me the estimate talked quite a while with the appropriate people and gave me a clear verbal picture of what was needed. Two men came out to do the work and decided to vent to the side of the house and not to the front to keep a nice "line" in front. They used 6" tubing, larger than the 4" previously installed. Two days later, I was concerned because the humidity had not gone down a lot and also there was a line next to one light/fan, so Nate came back on Friday, checked the venting very carefully, explained to me the best way to use the fans to reduce humidity, and also moved the fan a tad to cover the dark line where the edge of the old fan had been. He was extremely thorough, professional and polite. I was also pleased that when the men entered the house, they immediately slipped on red footies to cover their shoes and not bring in dirt. I probably could have saved money by purchasing the fans and timer switch myself, but for several reasons, I decided to let them bring them. I had researched fans. They explained why they preferred the one they picked and the size CFM.
Description of Work: Removed 2 old fans (one non-working and one on its last legs) Provided and installed 2 new extra-quiet Panasonic fans 110 CFM Installed a 60-minute fan timer on one switch Redid the venting system for the fans in the two bathrooms to the side of the house. (The venting was just to the empty space above the bathrooms and didn't really send the moisture out of that area. Because of allergies to mold, I needed to have it done properly.)

Danny was exceptionally professional, on time, and explained everything he was doing (as well as what we needed to know for future "problems") without making me feel like I was a complete idiot for calling about minor power outage that was easily remedied. He figured out the botched light switches in out entryway and didn't charge us for the swapped out switches. The information he provided was very helpful and left me feeling like a more confident home owner. Clearly, he has a great deal of pride in his work and I think that speaks volumes about the company itself. Most importantly, he put an end to the catalyst of several arguments between myself and my husband about the position of the "damned hallway light." The evaluation fee of $99.00 was comparable to other establishments and, considering he could have charged me for the minor electrical work he did perform, the bill was, in my opinion, more than fair. We will definitely call As You Wish for any electrical work in the future.
Description of Work: They performed an evaluation of our circuit breakers and tested a few of our outlets. My husband and I are utterly clueless in the area of electrical work, so we weren't sure if there was a problem with our upstairs wiring or if it was just a fluke. In addition, we had issues with our bathroom outlets and the switches in our entryway. Everything was repaired without issue.

Please read above. A few days after posting my review, Sean (manager) called and rectified the situation and apologized for the mistake. We appreciated his efforts and professionalism. Please consider the NOTES above for future work. Thank you.
Description of Work: At first I called and Mike the technician came out and gave an estimate of 550 (that is $110 for each recess can) +50 for a dimmer a total of $600. About two weeks later I called back to have them(AYW electic) come out and do the job but at the time of payment I was charged $798.80 w/dimmer. Therefore, I called to speak with Mike and Sean (Company owner/manager) and they relayed the message to the technician at my home. After that the price was then dropped and explained to me that they usually charge 1 can at ~$300 but for Angie's list members and for more cans they charge $120. I was surprised at the change of price since Mike had quoted me at $110 a can. I spoke to the technician at my home and was informed that he would bring this issue up with Sean and Mike. He also assured me that this is an issue they would handle and look over. It seems that this has occured before. All in all, I was happy with the electrical service but disappointed that the quote and promise was not kept. A business is only as good as their word and work! Note to company: If you give a quote please include tax. Note to customers: Get a quote, written and signed agreement on price, get the work done, and pay only what you were quoted. I don't intend to use them again.

A very pleasant experience. He spent well over 2 hours and I offered to pay more than "the Big Deal" of $99. He did not want to take it. Definitely will use them again.
Description of Work: I have a light post at the driveway. The light did not work most of time, especially in rainy days. He is very good at what he is doing. He made the diagnosis quickly and fixed the problem, which we had had for years. He also identified an outlet problem and instructed me how to fix it.

It was the $99 special. The gentleman that came out did a fine job and I think we will use them again. We liked the manner in which he went about checking the whole electrical system. We have a 30-year-old house that hasn't been checked in a long time. He gave us advice on things including a lighting system. We will probably use them again if the price is right.

It went very well. He was a delightful person. Very clean and tidy. I told him what was first priority and he got it all completed.
Description of Work: They replaced a broken outlet. Replaced 3 bad switches. They replaced a can light with a florescent fixture in my laundry room. They also did trouble shooting and got my garage lights back on again because there was a J box that had loose wires in it. They gave me a bid on replacing the sub panel.

Danny was the electrician and was excellent. He explained my electrical panel and found the breaker had 3 bathrooms on it. It just couldn't handle the load of 3 hairdryers and a heater at the same time. He recommended adding a separate circuit for one bathroom. They gave me a very good quote. They use flat rate pricing so there are no surprise charges. I had them come out and do the work the following week. Danny was a miracle worker. He was able to feed the new wire without causing any damage to the bathroom or hallway walls/ceilings. He cleaned up afterwards and you wouldn't have known he'd been there. Since then I hired them again to install an outlet in my fireplace for a new insert. Again, the flat rate quoted is what I paid. They sent Danny again and he did the same fine work.
Description of Work: I purchased a "Big Deal" for 2 hours of electrical work. I had them do an inspection of my electrical panel and troubleshoot a breaker that kept popping off.

This was a great deal! 2hrs for $99.00 PLUS the Electrician was prompt, efficient & pleasant! I had a few unrelated electical projects & he worked through them all within the timeframe. Pleasantly pleased with their service & I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I needed a few electrical jobs performed that seperately were minor in task but beyond my electricla know how. Jobs performed: Installing new hanging lamp Installing new dimmer & 2 way switches Installing new thermostat for heater Reconfiguring existing outlet for seperate appliances. The electrician showed up within the 2hr window, calling ahead when he was on his way. We quickly ran through the jobs at hand & then he went to work completing all the necessary tasks within the 2hr timeframe. No add'l expense was incurred.

Overall, the job went really well. It was part of a Big Deal offer. He was really fast actually. I think he was here for two and a half hours and in that time he installed a light in an entryway, an outlet in the bedroom and a motion detector for light over our driveway. I would recommend him for his efficiency, quality and professionalism. I would use them again in the future if needed.

It was a great experience. See above.
Description of Work: Wow! These guys were great. Bought a $99.00 special from Angie's List for 2 hours of electrical work. Made a list the night before the appointment listing several things I would like done -- not knowing how much they could do in two hours. Jimmy arrived at the appointed hour, offered to wear booties to keep the floors clean, listened to my list and told me what he thought he could do (more than I had hoped for). In the two hours he was able to install two outdoor electrical outlets, check my noisy bathroom ceiling fan, check out my circuit box for future expansion, and install some discretely wired outside electical connections for outside lighting. Very thorough -- even had his own ladder. I'm only a block from Home Depot, and he had to run there for a few pieces, although he had almost everything on his truck. He really worked nonstop, even though he fielded a couple calls from the home office while still working, confirming his next appointments. I felt the charges for the extra parts that he used were reasonable and certainly fair, and felt like the whole experience was completely worth the money. (I even fixed him a lunch to go, since he had worked a bit over his alloted time and would have had to miss lunch on the way to his next appointment! His broad smile looked very appreciative.) Very impressed with the work he did and the follow up with the company. Highest rating AAA. TR in West Seattle

Overall I was hoping to have all concerns complete. Would have liked to have light in ceiling checked or cleaned if it truely is dust in there. I was happy with the additional wall plugs installed and the exposed wire cut and covered. I'm assuming I should have purchased the recessed lighting ahead of time so that job would have been done. Overall for what he did was okay, not sure $104 is a fair price to do additional wall plugs and the rest not to happy about.
Description of Work: Very nice service man. Put in extra plugs around TV area which were needed. Since I had not purchased recessed lights ahead of time, he did not do that job. Also a ceiling light turns off after a while, I asked him to check. Did not open it and look, just said there was dust there. Same with a fluorescent light - he did not check. Did cut a wire I was concerned about and put on cover to conceal it. That was about it. Gave me an estimate to have the additional recessed lights put in.

They came when they said they would come. Polite and professional. Even wore booties in the house. Was very good at accessing the issue and explaining it so I could understand. The electrician and the dispatcher even went the extra mile and rearranged his schedule so he didn't have to come back a second time thus incurring another charge. He made a trip to Lowe's to get what he needed that wasn't on the truck and even fixed another item as well.
Description of Work: I live in an old home that has not been well maintained. When the dryer quit I looked behind it and was I ever surprise. There is a hole in the wall with wires sticking out. The electic box was hanging out with the dryer plug attached. Fire waiting to happen is what I thought. They came in and throughly looked at the wiring and tried to accertain where the extra wiring was coming from. He went to Lowe's and got all the things to put back together the wiring and the dryer. The dryer "pigtail" had fried and so had some of the wiring. The hole in the wall was to big so he had to cut another hole and need wood and stuff for that. When he was done he had even patched the bad hole and it looks wonderful and the dryer works! He then asked if I needed anything else. We looked at several other issues in my aging house and he quickly fixed the bathroom light switch that was stuck off.

Justin arrived within the two hour appointment window. I had the replacement parts according to what they'd recommended over the phone. He was clearly knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. He wasn't even unnerved by our psycho attack cat or our hoarding in the basement. He finished well within the two hours, and offered to check our fuse box connections. He found that we had more power available than we knew about because the house had been built with an electric furnace - so we could install a hot tub if we want.

Perfectly. Will most definetly hire this company again!
Description of Work: I was very satisfied with the performance of this company. We purchased a Angie's Big Deal, and had no idea what to expect, even figuring that we would be treated shabbily. Much to our surprise the service was EXCELLENT! Dan arrived on time with a great attitude and proceeded promptly to the designated tasks. He was cheerful and positive and completed all tasks quickly and very, very, efficiently. This company is what we were looking for and I highly recommend them for your electrical work. He did a good job with the work, but I think a couple of others could have done it for a little less. He was real friendly and professional. His original bid was a little higher, but he finally gave me a lower price. He finished it in a timely manner and did everything in a professional way. He put covering over the furniture and around the places where he was cutting out drywalls to install the outlet. He talked to me and gave me the history of how long he had been with the company and how long he had been doing the work. He talked about his personal life a little bit. He came when we asked him to and told us when they were going to come. In fact, they were a little early and waited for me. He did a very good job and got everything cleaned up and made sure that the furniture was moved back in place.
