We considered composites but decided to go with cedar. We had meet with a few contractors earlier, and so we knew what needed to be done. Andy established a productive e-mail information exchange beforehand, and came out to meet with us. He was on time, and was very personable and knowledgeable. He did estimate things that others had missed or glossed over. We decided to hire another company with whom we had met twice and liked, but I would definitely hire Andy's company for future work.

Andy Marshall produced a beautiful new cedar deck on time and with no hassles at all. His work was excellent. He and his helper removed the old deck and rebuilt the new one (in a different shape/orientation). He did exactly what he said he would do and we'll be able to enjoy the new deck for many years.

Andy's very easy to work with and did an outstanding job - we've received many compliments on all the work he did. Bonus points on clear communication and prompt service, and sticking to budget and timeline. Would definitely work with Andy again.

It was a great experience. Out of 20 contractors I contacted only Andy and another company got back to me and followed thru. I chose Andy because he was the first to get back to me and was very responsive. His pricing was good and when he told me he could do it right away I couldn't believe it. He showed up as promised and completed the work a day a head of schedule. I am having him do another small project for me. I still can't believe it is done. thanks Andy I could not be happier

Andy provided a clear bid and kept honest to the bid. (The materials ended up costing more than expected, but he did not alter the bill. I did pay him the difference.) He explained well when the project would start and gave nice daily updates. The work was excellent, and I felt very comfortable having him on the property when no one was home.

As with any project of this size, a few unexpected problems with infra structure came up. Andy was able to solve these with minimal additional cost. After the deck was completed and we had paid, we discovered one minor area that we wanted redone. We called Andy and he took care of it perfectly within the next week. Overall our experience with Andy was excellent. He was professional, punctual, skilled, and communicated with us every step of the way. We look forward to working with him again in the future and would highly recommend him.

We contacted Andy to stabilize the south end of our deck after it had settled and place vertical slats or pickets along our deck railing. He leveled out our deck and replaced two 4x4 posts that support the deck. He also installed lag bolts to reinforce the railing. Andy did a great job. I highly recommend him.

Andy evaluated the existing structure, listened to our requests and provided feedback and recommendations. He replaced the 2 x 8 supports with treated wood, installed TREX decking and a new cedar railing attached to 4 x 4 treated support posts. The deck was completed over the Memorial Day holiday with a minimum of disruption. The end result is a nice, sound structure that adds value to our home, Thanks Andy!! I do have a bone to pick with Angie's list. After accepting Andy's bid but prior to work commencing, I decided to check Andy's credentials with Angie's list, including license, insurance and bonding (don't ask why I waited, I don't have an answer). Angie's List showed 'no information' for all categories which set off my internal BS alarms as you can probably imagine. I emailed Andy stating (because of the information on Angie's List) that we would not be able to proceed with the project. Andy called me, upset of course, and provided his business license and the address for the L&I website. Through the WA state site I was able to verify insurance and bonding were in good standing as well as the amounts for each. The site also noted that no complaints had been registered nor wer there any pending issues. I am disappointed with Angie's list for having a contractor listing without the supporting information available. I am sure Angie's list will contend that it is the contractor's responsibility to provide this information but, in my opinion, the listing should not have been posted until all information was received and/or verified. Angie's List lack of action almost cost a legitimate contractor work and that is not a small thing.

I was very happy with the work done by Andy Marshall. I liked him when he came out to make an estimate. He is not the cheapest, but really good. He was open and upfront. He said he could do the step for less using cheaper material. I came down to the cheapest material that was possible to get. The overall experience with Any Marshall had been excellent. I was satisfied with the price I paid, and that I got the value for my money. He showed up when he said he would show up. He was always on time. He is very professional in his result and his behavior. I would use him in the future.
