Description of Work: Called to get an estimate to remove asbestos from pipes in the basement and to remove an old boiler. The rep who came out to assess the work and the crew who performed the work did a great job--they get an 'A' grade. They explained what would happen and answered all of my questions. The reason I am giving a 'B' overall is due to the office contact. On the day of service I called to confirm and she told me the crew was on their way to my house. Hours later still no crew, so I called back to see what happened and was told they were coming the next day. For some reason she didn't think to call me back and tell me this, meanwhile I took time off from work. Not cool.

Description of Work: American was very responsive, clean, friendly, and their pricing was the lowest of the bids we acquired. There was some minor damage to our dryer venting in the crawl space where asbestos was removed; after speaking with American about this they came out and fixed the venting and also deducted to price of the venting hardware from our bill.

Description of Work: I called American Environmental after a search on Angie's List. I had noticed some suspicious, possibly asbestos containing, material around my boiler furnace. I was also curious about my popcorn ceiling possibly having asbestos. The person on the phone was very pleasant and promptly referred me to Ed, who took the time that day since he was in the neighborhood to come out and take a look. He gave estimates on what it would take to contain the furnace material, and an estimate on the ceiling, describing the process involved. He was professional, polite and knowlegeable, and gave a referral to a testing laboratory that would analyze the ceiling and furnace insulation materials. Luckily, the report was negative. However, had it shown asbestos, I would have gladly had the pros at American Environmental take care of the problem.

 + -1 moreEd Plikaytis was the estimator and Tony Ruiz was the field supervisor. From start to finish American Environmental Construction was impressive. Plikaytis estimated that the abatement process would take 3 days. The job was finished in 2 1/2 days. There was very little damage to wallboard. Even the drywallers were impressed with the minimal amount of damage. Punctuality was refreshing. Overall it was a pretty good experience.
Description of Work: Remove and properly dispose of approximately 1,540 square feet of asbestos containing textured ceiling material without demolition. Remove asbestos from the main floor (500 square feet), the second floor (520 square feet) and the basement (520 square feet). Seal all surfaces from which asbestos has been removed with an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved penetrating asbestos encapsulant.

 + -1 moreBefore the job started, the project lead for American Environmental Construction anticipated that it would take two days or less and that the ceiling would be left in fairly good condition. The project turned out to be more difficult than they anticipated, and there was significant ceiling damage. They started on a Thursday morning and had to stay late Friday night, then come back Saturday morning. Although we were disappointed that the project took longer than expected, and that the ceiling was in worse condition than expected, we were impressed that AEC made the extra effort to get the job done so we could move back into our house for the weekend. They also stuck to their original estimate though they clearly had to spend more time on site than they expected.
Description of Work: Removal of popcorn ceiling from top floor of a 1973 split-level home. The total area was approximately 800 square feet.
