Description of Work: Top to bottom, our experience with All Covered Painting was excellent, and that's saying something, because we've had super painters before. They're right up there with the best in our experience. We are so pleased with their work and excited about how renewed our house feels! |In the estimate phase, Rich Wall was conscientious to let us know that contrary to what we had thought, it wasn't strictly necessary yet to paint our 15-year-old Hardie Plank siding. Though the factory-applied paint can fade, otherwise the siding is protected for much longer than we realized. Since our siding is already a very light green, no fading was detectable. We so appreciated his honesty because it saved us thousands of dollars! We were painting not to change the look of the house but just to keep it maintained. The trim and decorative shingles definitely needed work and his estimate sounded pretty reasonable, based roughly on what other reviewers on Angie's List seem to be paying. |Rich assured us that All Covered is the "Nordstrom" of painters; that is, they guarantee customer satisfaction and are prepared to do what it takes to achieve it! Our experience with them bore that out. |Although our paint job had to be delayed due to the huge, unseasonable wind and rain storm that hit just before Labor Day, we were so pleased to be able to get on their schedule this year at all since we only called them at the end of the summer. They worked around the rain and though we had to be patient for a few days, Rich kept in touch day by day, and the crew was here the first day it was possible to start. |The first step, which took place before the storm hit, was pressure washing the whole house. The washing crew also treated mold and moss growing on two sides of the house. Rich warned us that the stains on the siding might not come completely off, but the siding would not be compromised. Most of them actually did come off and the siding looks way better. |The paint and stain crew, headed by Misael, were calm, friendly, hardworking, and careful. They got all the trim and the shingles done in 2 ½ days. (Our house is a tall two-story on a steep incline, with very steep, multi-level roofs which at one point were also really hot!) They first stripped off the old stain on the shingles, then revived the shingles to a plain wood state (which did cost extra but was well worth it), then applied new stain. Compared to the original stain, which was mottled, faded, and blackened in spots, the new stain is fabulous. The color is now entirely smooth, even, and bright. It looks perfect! The trim we kept white, and they put on two coats, one day apart. Even the first coat was almost flawless. The second coat was gleaming, sharp, and pristine. It looked fantastic. They also painted our front door, again keeping it white. They were able to get two coats on in one day, removing the hardware and weather stripping and replacing them with new pieces that we had bought. The door looks wonderful. |At the conclusion of the job we went on an inspection tour and found just a couple of areas that needed touching up or cleaning up beyond what they had already done. They were careful to flawlessly correct each one. Cleanup and removal of all their equipment was accomplished in good order. When they left we felt like the whole place was perfect. We would have to give this crew rave reviews for their skill, dedication, quiet cheerfulness, and professionalism! |Notes on paint: All Covered gets their paint from either Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams. We like Sherwin Williams so we chose their Greek Villa white in the SuperPaint that All Covered uses, and their Mission Wall in the semi-transparent Woodscapes stain. The Greek Villa looked much whiter on the wood than on the paint swatch, though we tried to match the paint swatch to the existing paint. We didn't test it because it's just white... The new paint looks very clean and bright. The Mission Wall stain has a soft, faintly coppery hue. Or perhaps you'd call it burnt orange. It gives our otherwise very neutral house a little color. |
