AAA Fire was conducting an alarm check in my apartment building where I rent. I wasn't presentable, and pleaded to allow me 20 minutes to dress. The associate said he couldn't accommodate due to his schedule, and proceeded to enter my home. He actually said, "I'm just doing my job." It was humiliating, demeaning and unacceptable. The other tech and building manager were present during the incident...just to inspect my fire alarms. Property Management companies: Do not hire AAA -- they will insult your tenants.
Description of Work: The property management company of the apartment building where I rent hired AAA Fire to do an annual inspection of each unit's fire alarms.

AAA was originally very good to work with. They tried to be punctual with the many visits they made to our building due to many issues with install. The final invoice they supplied ended up $1000 more than their quote. Then came the monitoring issues. Our new system kept calling us with false fire alarms. This happened all through Christmas holiday last year. Finally a very nice lady there put our system into "test mode" which stopped the false alarms for about two weeks. They started up again while we were on vacation, so we called again and asked to have the monitoring stopped until the system could be inspected and fixed so it would function properly. A portion of our invoice remains unpaid as we have requested numerous times to have written verification for our records that our system passed inspection. We still have not received it. AAA was billing us for monitoring during the time the system was malfunctioning and we asked for a credit for that time period. Finally, I get a call from their service manager who was one of the rudest individuals I have dealt with in a very long time. In my 38 years of property ownership and management there was only one other time I was treated in such condescending and disrespectful manner. Even in the absence of any signed monitoring agreement and a malfunctioning uninspected system he insisted that we owed him for monitoring. His rude behaviour went a long way to undo the good works of professional people in their organization. We are looking elsewhere for monitoring. Their service manager has apparently never learned how much money one bad customer service mistake can cost a company. He will.

First, the tech incorrectly identified a rate of rise heat detector as a fixed temp heat detector. Based on this initial experience, I resolved never to use them again. However, about the same time one year later, I received a postcard from AAA indicating that the fire extinguishers at the apartments were again due for service. I did not respond to the postcard, nor did I contact the company in any other way. Nevertheless, AAA somehow gained access to a secured building (a tenant probably let them in) and serviced the fire extinguishers. I called AAA and explained that although the work had been done, we had not authorized it. We further explained that our building is very well secured, and we did not even give their technician permission to enter it. During each telephone contact we made it very clear that we did not request nor did we authorize any work, and we therefore did not intend to pay the bill. AAA kept sending us bills. Then, some time after we received several more invoices from AAA, we noticed that all of the updated tags had been mysteriously removed from the extinguishers and the pins pulled from the actuating levers. Even after the pins were pulled and the tags were removed, we continued to get bills from AAA, and we again informed them that we would not pay for unauthorized work that had by then been somehow undone. AAA eventually sent us to collections. Upon explanation, the collection company immediately dropped the issue.

Excellent! They came ready to do the job I hired the company to do.
Description of Work: Updated Fire Extinguishers by testing pressure, and filling them. Explained the type of extinguisher that is required for my building. Set up a schedule to come back and keep me in compliance with the City of Seattle certification.
