24/7 Hawk Locksmith

I hired Hawk to re-key the locks in three of our doors, including an old-style mortice lock on our front door. When I originally called Hawk for an estimate, I mentioned the old lock and asked how much it would cost for all three locks. I was told it would be $40 for the mortice lock and $20 each for the other two. We scheduled a time for them to come out. After waiting for more than three hours for the locksmith, I called their office and was told that they had "forgotten" about our appointment and gone home, but would send someone "right away." About 30 minutes later, someone did arrive. Unfortunately, he didn't know anything about mortice locks, and he was unable to simply re-key our other doors. Without discussing it with us, he installed new deadbolts in our two standard doors and spent more than 2 hours dissecting our mortice lock. In the end, he improperly reinstalled the lock and handle on our old mortice-lock door, so that the inside handle fell out repeatedly until my husband finally researched mortice locks and rebuilt the entire thing himself. The new locking barrel installed on that door was all scratched up and did not match the rest of the lock and handle, either. When it came time to settle the bill, we were charged not only for the new deadbolts, but also more than $250 in "extra time" and "service" fees that were not mentioned when I got my quote. After some negotiation, the bill was reduced to $195--still more than double the original quote.
