Description of Work: Installation of new kitchen faucet. It was a newer model faucet that installed slightly differently than the average faucet. While there was some interference in our cabinet, he solved the problem and did a great job.

We received a recomendation on this plumber form a previous job he conducted. I was not impressed because of the 2 cancellations due to company not having transportation (engine blew on van). Missed construction timelines and had to search out new plumber.
Description of Work: Service was to replace a frost free valvue that had cracked in addition to changing out a shower and tub plumbing connections/hardware.

John Driscoll has always responded quickly - usually coming the same day, even if after normal working hours, to assess the job and provide a quote - and has always done a professional job for a reasonable price. He's friendly, well-mannered, and attentive to keeping his work contained and the job area clean. After being quoted an outrageous price (around $4,000) for a water heater replacement by a contractor who was on site to do furnace maintenance (but who insisted he had noticed that my water heater needed immediate replacement), I called John for advice. He came that afternoon and gave me a quote to replace the existing water heater with another of similar size and quality for $750. He came the next day and did the job for that price. I completely trust John. He was recommended by a friend who I can rely upon for good recommendations and did not disappoint. I have passed along his name to many others and would not hesitate to do so in the future.
Description of Work: John Driscoll has done several jobs for us: replaced kitchen faucet, replaced bathroom faucet and drain, repaired leaking shower faucet and recommended drywall contractor for related repair, replaced water heater, and repaired frozen pipe to outdoor spigot.

John has done a number of plumbing jobs for us in the past and always get the job done well, provides good and fair advice. During this visit he also fixed a bath drain plug that was no longer connected to the tub mechanism - no charge for that quick fix. He also took a look at our water heaters (~12 years old) and recommended keeping them for now.

Good.
Description of Work: Repaired leaky anti freeze hose bib. This was somewhat complicated because of the problem of getting access to the connection inside the wall of the house. John came right at the appointed time, worked almost 4 hours, and cleaned up the mess the job inevitably made from opening up the wall.

I chose Driscoll Plumbing after getting another bid that was way over John's Driscoll's bid. John lives nearby and I wanted to use someone local, because a lot of internet companies say they are local but are not. Some of these companies charge by the hour instead of the job. Beware! I've found it is easier to contact and schedule a local company who will bid the job, especially if a problem arises. Also, I wanted the person who did the bid to do the work, not their subcontractor or employee. If there is a problem, the owner/installer takes care of it using and quot;the buck stops hereand quot; approach. I hired Roto Rooter twice for emergencies and their employees are a horrible and dirty. John gave me a bid and then stuck by that bid. I am puzzled by the reviewer who said she got the price from John AFTER the work was done. John gives a bid. I do think the homeowner would want this bid itemized, and in writing. John gave me an oral bid after I listed the jobs that needed to be done in a e-mail, then I used that bid. Always make sure the bid is written and signed by the installer! John did exactly the and quot;services listand quot; above. I needed to add the toilet valve (after discovering it was broken during the toilet removal and installation) and I added the 2nd toilet to install and he billed me accordingly. John did not quibble about the extra work even though he had another job to get to. He began the list above on New Year's Eve, because he had called me to cancel the day before when a gas line job ran longer than expected. He worked New Year's Eve morning to make up for missing my appointment, although he had another job after me in the afternoon and, I found out by chatting with him, a party to attend that evening. He willingly finished up the list by installing the toilet valve and adjusting pipes to fit new cabinetry a few days later. I do not believe he charged me for having to play around with the pipes to fit the new cabinetry. He was easy to schedule and if he could not make a certain time, he called. I'd hire John again. He knows his plumbing and is experienced, quick, and charges by the job.
Description of Work: Installed 2 toilets, including a 1 piece toilet that was bulky and more difficult to install. (hauled away 1 toilet) Replaced wall valve on one toilet. Cut out old valve from shower and installed new shower valve. (Requires shutting off water and using a torch). Opened drywall for right side of sink, cut back hot/cold so pipes are inside wall (allowing for installation of new drywall to close hole so that area could be made into a seated vanity.) Hooked up new sink pipes, adjusting for fit with new cabinets. Installed new faucet. (Required replacing shut off valves for hot/cold since new faucet is single monoblock design) Installed new shower trim kit. Removed old fiberglass shower pan and extended 2 inch drain to prepare water outlet for building of new pan by tile setter. (Required going into crawl space).

Poorly
Description of Work: It was the follow up that was terrible. John seemed to be a good plumber until 6 months later. He improperly instilled an exterior water spicket. After the thaw in the spring, we found out he instilled the unit improperly causing a flood in the lower level of our house. When we called to request that he fix his bad work, he stalled, told us we would have to pay for the new work and was a jerk about all of this. We needed help immediately and he said it would take time. We had to hire a different plumber who confirmed that work was improperly instilled. Since then, two other outside spickets he installed leak. I would not hire this fellow. He seems nice upfront but watchout!

Description of Work: Driscoll was at my house for about an hour to unclog a bathroom sink and do a couple of minor toilet repairs. When he presented me with the bill, it seemed pretty high for what he'd done and the seemingly inexpensive part he needed to replace. Didn't help that he assured me what a good deal he was giving me, and that he said he even screwed down the loose toilet seat (as if I couldn't do that myself). He also mentioned that he was happy to get in a bit of work before going fishing - or some other outdoor activity (it was a Saturday). My overall impression was quite negative, given the price for the short period of time he was at my house and the simple work required. The guy just really rubbed me the wrong way, so I would never hire him again.

He has been a lifesaver for our business. We have used him for plumbing issues at our rental facility. He has been very up-front and honest with us. He has come in after hours because he knows that we need things done quickly when we have business coming. He has been more than accommodating as far as working around that schedule. He has given me great advice. He has been our advocate.
Description of Work: He is the plumber for our business. On the last trip, he referred us to another business.

John (owner/operator) was very punctual arriving for the estimate, asked some questions, and quoted $400. He was the middle bid (low was $300, high was Ballard Natural Gas -- very friendly and a professional outfit -- but $695? Ouch.) He arrived about 4 hours late for the install itself due to an emergency job, and while I would definitely have appreciated a call earlier than after I called him, it wasn't the end of the world either and really was the only cause for complaint in an otherwise very good experience. He completed the work quickly, cleaned up completely, relit the pilot light, and stopped to take a look at some other plumbing work I was doing and gave me some good advice. Nice guy, good work, reasonable price, and he sent me a $5 Starbucks card as a thank you which was a nice touch. Overall great experience, I'd definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Ran a gas line for a gas range about 20' from existing gas furnace.

Price charged was highway robbery. John Driscoll (the owner) arrived with an assistant. The assistant went to the basement to turn off the water, while John got a part out of his truck. They put the new nipple on (using the PVC adhesive solution), and then took longer to write up the work than to actually do it. They then charged $400 plus tax for the job (I was visibly angry, but he said if I wanted to challenge him, go ahead, that was the price). It seemed that he had planned to do a big job, and was disappointed that it was so small. I had always been clear about exactly what the work was and had talked to him directly. I do know they drove a long way to do the work (from North Bend or Snoqualmie) but that's their problem, not mine. They're the ones who listed a Seattle phone number.
Description of Work: Install a new ''nipple'' -- the fitting that comes out of the wall under a bathroom sink for the drain pipe (PVC pipe). The work took approximately 10 minutes. Done during the day on a weekday (no special hours, non-emergency service).
