Andy was professional and timely. Rather than me wait for him he had his dad come out and give me an estimate. The price was the most competitive out of several I gathered. Once I decided to move forward the job was done the next day. I recommend his services.
Description of Work: Had 3 stumps ground up in my yard.

Found Andy's Stump Grinding on Craigslist after a bid from a highly ranked Angieslist and another bid from Thumbtack were thought to be too expensive from previous experience. Though an email exchange, I described my stumps and offered $50 for travel and $100 an hour for a minimum of two hours of stump grinding. I requested a tracked stump grinder because they had been very effective in grinding my strumps in the past. Andy agreed and he was able to schedule me the next day. Andy's partner (his dad) called me the morning off the stump grinding and asked if a Vemeer SC252 with extra wheels would be ok, since their larger stump grinder was unavailable, I agreed. Andy and his dad showed up on time with their trailered stump grinder in tow. I was concerned that the grinder would sink into the soft soil from a recent rain. This was confrimed after the rear steering wheel sunk in a soft spot but was quickly corrected by putting down a piece of plywood over the soft spot. Andy and his dad went to work on the first stump by putting up some sheets of plywood to keep the chips from flying into the neighbors yard and scraped some dirt off the top of the stump. He then started to grind, stopping occasionally to scrap more dirt and rock from in between the roots, to save the teeth on the stump grinder. Andy seems to have a gift in how to move and work the stump grinder efficiently and effectively. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to grind the first stump. He next tackled the next stump and ground most of it in the next 45 minutes. What was left, I was able to dispose of. His father asked if I wanted them to use a blower to clean up some of the chips that flew into the neighbors yard and I asked that just the chips on their lawn be blown back onto my property. Tjhey both asked me several times if I a satisfied, which I was. The job took exactly two hours as I had figured and saved me $175.00 from the prevous bid.
Description of Work: Needed two old stumps that were previously ground last year, ground again as more of the stumps have been unearthed during some excavation for a side sewer project. One stump was a fir tree that is mostly dug out and exposed with an area of 5 feet by 3 feet that needs to be ground. The other stump was a three headed pine tree that has a mat of roots in an area that is 4 feet to 5 feet across sticking about 6 inches about the ground. Needed both ground down so later a trench could be dug. Wanted all debris left in place with the hole unfilled to save cost. Both stumps are accessible

Had contacted a number of Angie's List providers without success for near term appointment, given severe winter tree damage and backlog of large jobs. Found Andy's on Craigslist, and he had lower quote than other services. Was able to come out and complete the job within a few days. Worked quickly and efficiently in grinding stump down 1-1/2 feet below grade and also in removing several large roots extending into the lawn with surprisingly minimal damage to lawn. Cleaned up and spread excavated dirt in a pleasing manner. Will definitely use again when the need arises.
Description of Work: Needed stump grinding of mature flowering cherry tree base to enable replacement tree planting.
