Had a difficult time obtains a bid, and firm refused to proved an itemized bid. At end they hit me with a change order due to 30 minutes of “extra work”, even though the job took less time to complete than their estimate. They made no effort to see my view. It’s the third job I’ve had with them, and third time it’s been a hassle. No more for me

With our first visit to this business we meet Heidi Leliefeld the Sales Manager. She was able to guide us to a product that would work for us and what we were looking for in style and color. She answered all of our questions and concerns and gave us samples to take home and see what would look good in our 9 year old home. We set up a date for her to come out and measure our entire down stairs of our home and give her input on what would look good with our existing cabinets/counter tops/etc. She used to be an interior decorator in the past and has a good eye on what works. After getting all the measurements and us deciding on what we wanted she submitted a proposal. It felt a little high at first but after looking at other floor companies they were in the same ball park as others. We accepted there bid and put half down to lock in our install dates and get our order in. We spent the next two weeks moving everything out of main floor of our home (2 Story) into our garage so the installers had a clear and clean area to work. They showed up Monday Morning at 8 AM sharp on the date we agreed on. Tom the main installer came in explained how they were going to demo (remove) our old tile, Carpet, and vinyl sheet flooring. How they were going to do the work and a guess at when they would finish. Based on the bid determines what work they will and will not do (Example: Moving appliances, R&R the toilets, Dust protection, It was all up to us and what we wanted to pay) We had them do 90% of it in our home. The rest and easy stuff we did our self's. Tom is not a big talker so he finished what he had to say and him and his helper started at it. Everyday at the end of the job i asked Tom to give my wife or I an update which he gladly did. Love the communication we got with Carpet one. It took them 5 days to install our new hard wood floors which is just under a 1000 Sq Ft.. When Friday came Tom explained they got everything done except the trim molding they needed to still do and needed to replace two lick plates they scuffed on our lower cabinets. Tom contacted Heidi and ordered what they needed and said they would be back out as soon the product arrived. They came back 2 weeks to the day and installed the rest of the trim and kick board. We are very happy with this business and our new floors. KUDO'S Carpet One. We will be back because its a one stop shop. There installers work for them not a separate contractor. Which is very important to us. Next project is kitchen counter tops/back splash/sink so look out Heidi we are coming back soon. So from beginning of the project from meeting Heidi the sales manager to the installers leaving took about 5+ weeks in total.. If I was to have any complaints which we really don't it would be the final detail touches at the very-very end of the job. I.E. caulking, reminding them about some handles to be installed in our closet floor crawl space.. I In the big scheme of it all that was nothing to be honest. A+++ for this company.....

Excellent job. Very good quality of workmanship. Sales associate was polite and responsive to our requests. Installation crew was timely and worked hard to complete the installation in one day, including redoing the major seam because the carpet was not lying and joining properly. The result is that the long 25 ft. seam is undetectable. The job included cutting out a large section of the old carpet (virtually unwalked upon in 8 years) and padding and installing it in a large walk-in closet. This latter task was performed with care and quality workmanship.
Description of Work: Remove old carpet/padding and install new carpet and padding in Living room and dining room.

I had a terrible experience with them. The people that work with them had scoured it and cut it for another customer, and they left holes in my wall, when I had the granite put in. They could not even paste up the hole. I asked the owners of Benjamin to come to my home, because I wanted it resolved, and they couldn't be bothered to get back to me, or to call me, or to contact me. They were terrible, I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. When I saw the scours, I totally believe that they could sell me something that was already scoured. Evidently the people didn't want it, and it is hard to see it, and it took me a while to see it, but I did call the owners to come and see it. I tell people not to have anything done with them. They hire out other people to do the work. I spent 20 grand, and I expected them to come to my home. It is a man and wife. I had also used them for floors in the past. At first they had sent these really goofy guys who didn't know what they were doing on the floors, and my husband complained, so they sent other two guys who knew what they were doing. The fact that it was defective scouring and thought I wouldn't notice it is really sneaky. They don't care about customer service. The price wasn't cheap, it was right there with everyone else's price.
Description of Work: I used Benjamin's Carpet One. They put some cabinetry with granite. They also did flooring in the past.

Benjamins is an excellent company with which to do business. Although the materials were a little late due to supplier issues, they installed the products right after they arrived. Their installation crews were really great and installed everything in two days. I would definitely go back to Benjamins!

Description of Work: Sales person seemed to know the product. Disappointed in installer, as we had to wait 2 weeks for installation. Isn't installed as yet so can't speak to quality of carpet but service was good. The sales person who helped us was very responsive and helpful.

They installed a granite slab in my bathroom that I later (within 2 wks) discovered had a hairline crack in it. When I complained, they made NO offer to fix or compensate me in any way. My tile backsplash had already been installed, and a vessel sink. Obviously they didn't want the expense of replacing it! I was willing to take some compensation monetarily, but THEY never offered or got back to me. My dad died at that time, so I was in no shape to pursue this. They simply never got back to me and I let it go. The service was excellent when they were wanting to get the sale, but the service following the sale was terrible!

Benjamins Carpet One They were not honest. One man cut a hole in my carpet and glued it back into place without notifying me. Two men, I specifically asked them, my husband asked them to use screws as they were replacing our counter top and they didn't they used nails. And then that night my husband spent three hours trying to find out, first of all it was not secure, it was not secure and it was squeaking, it was leaking because there were nails that were rubbing against each other. And he spent an hour looking for these nails and then had to screw in some screws. They told us they were going to use screws. And they also because they cut this hole in the carpet and didn't disclaim that to us, they also would not allow us to pick up our linoleum, we were just going to go with a different contractor, but they would not allow us to pick up the rest of the merchandise that we paid for in the warehouse. It was against the law and I should have called a lawyer. But they were holding it ransom. They were late, they were several hours late, by the time they came over, the owner was not professional when we talked about our problems with him, he became agitated and did not apologize. Overall on everything, they were able to complete the project in a reasonable amount of time.

Professionalism: Company was not professional! After installing kitchen flooring they ripped a 4x4 inch square piece of carpet in our living room and they tried to hide the error by just gluing the carpet back in place. We asked to have screws used on the counter tops. They agreed but used nails instead. The crew did not tell me (the owner) that they were not going to use screws nor did they admit to ripping the carpet. Punctuality – The crew was late two days by more than 1.5 hours without a call. Responsiveness- They were not responsive even when we reported the ripped carpet or the crews intent to use nails instead of screws. Quality of workmenship- poor. My husband spent at least 3 hours removing nails and adding screws because the structure under the counter tops was week and squeaking every time you put some pressure on the counter top. We knew the counter top structure needed to be stronger before adding the counter tops. The owner did not apologize for the damage done and he made no attempt to try and make us happy customers. We will never use this company again because they were dishonest multiple times.
Description of Work: The scope of the work was to replace counter tops and replace flooring in the kitchen, laundry room and two bathroom. I don't remember the exact amount of money we paid for the service and I don't remember exactly when the work was done. It was such a terriable experience, I just wanted to forget everything about the job.

They are terrible. It was about $25000 investment. The service workers were nice, however, when they were finished, there were holes in our walls left from when they tried off the back splashes of the pre-existing counters and these holes were never touched up. Also, I called the owners to ask them to come and look at what they had left it looked like and they completely ignored me. I phoned them, they ignored me. It wouldn't have taken much for someone to come up and fix or presumptive actually they should have fixed that hole before they even put up back splash. When I say hole, it is ripped, looks like paper fabric over the top of the dry wall, brown over indented in the dry wall and is in a very obvious place in the kitchen; just when I walk in, it is right there in the corner; not actually in the corner but maybe a foot out to the right. I still see a couple of places where it was unfinished, just where they left like an inch from the main island where there is too big granites, they left exposed wood of about 6 inches there and I guess I just can't count the exposed wood underneath because they would not either paint. In the main flooring, into the living room, there is a saddle back where when we step down I can actually feel that; there was unevenness underneath but I just kind of wanted to let that go because I was more concerned about the kitchen. Anyway, customer service there was absolutely unremarkable. I would never recommend anyone ever to go there.
Description of Work: I used Benjamins Carpet One for redo of kitchen granite counters, removing the old ones, counters, and they did 90% of our house wood flooring.

Brian from Franchino's was very prompt for the granite layout appointment. He answered all my questions and was very professional. The crew from Benjamin's was always on time, were careful to eliminate dust in the remainder of my home, answered all my questions professionally, and accomplised a lot each day. The granite installers were very professional and installed five pieces of granite in one afternoon. It is almost impossible to see the two seams in my countertop. The two companies worked so closely together that there were no gaps in the work schedule. The entire project was completed in eight work days. They cleaned up each day before they left. The work of both companies was exceptional.
Description of Work: Although my home was only 5 years old, the original contractor had not installed the tile floors in my home correctly. The floor underlayment was moving and causing cracked tile and grout. I worked with Benjamin's Carpet One and Franchino's Tile and Granite (same owners) to completely remodel my kitchen. The foor and backsplash were replaced with ceramic and glass tile, and the countertop was replaced with granite. Benjamin's provided the bid that included Franchino's services. I worked with Gina and Becky at Benjamin's to select the ceramic and glass tiles, and Laura at Franchino's to select the granite. They were very helpful and kept me from making choices that I wouldn't have been happy with.
