The initial phone inquiry and follow-up scheduling were handled efficiently by Carlynn, although she spoke a little fast at times (for me, anyways). She was able to schedule me for the next morning between 9 and 10. Because I live a distance away, she consented to giving me an advance call, over which there ended up being a slight mix-up, but it was no problem as the technician/owner Steve arrived on time. He was pleasant, professional, and conscientious about keeping the condo clean. It wasn't clear if the condo's new plumbing system needed an expansion tank, so he gave me the option of waiting to hear the inspector's recommendation first, but I didn't want to make an extra trip, so I told him to go ahead. I also appreciated his recommendation for a drip pan. I asked if I could call in my credit card payment to him after the inspection, but as their policy is for payment on the day of install and he assured me he would return if there were any problem with the inspection, I paid him that day. He told me he would have the office call me that day so I would know when to expect the permit, and Carlynn did call me that afternoon. The permit arrived three days later. I scheduled the city inspection for the following week, and the inspection went smoothly. In addition, I had a tub drain problem. Since they focus on water heaters, Carlynn wasn't sure if the drain was in their scope of work, which is why she sent me Steve, someone with more experience. He diagnosed the problem and gave me his recommendation (which was to go the less invasive and less expensive route of buying a drain stopper at the hardware store), and he did not charge me for his assessment. Steve provided me with a carbon copy of the handwritten invoice that day, and the charges were clearly spelled out. Carlynn mailed me a more formal copy of the bill as well. Their price was competitive.
Description of Work: Removal/disposal of old water heater in a rental unit. Installation of 50 gallon electric water heater ($639), expansion tank ($159), earthquake strap ($89), and pan ($59). Obtained permit (city's permit fee was $78) and charged a $10 processing fee. Assessed a tub drain problem.

Steve Skeen came around....gave a quote and offered to try and install the next day. I waited until I could check them out as it seemed too good to be true and I was nervous putting a water heater on the outside wall of the house.....a week later...he came early and hauled everything out and installed a new water heater in a few hours....leaving me with plenty of room to have a decent laundry room....everything tidied up.
Description of Work: Removed water heater.....all gas pipes, electric wires, and venting pipes.....until area was completely free. Installed brand new tankless water heater on outside of the house.

Outstanding! Steve Hyde came to our house to provide an estimate for replacing our standard direct vent propane water heater tank (preventative maintenance... it was >12 years old and starting to not produce enough hot water for a single shower). After reviewing our situation and discussing alternatives, we agreed a tankless system would work best. Steve overcame several obstacles related to the PVC plumbing in our house and non-standard pipe sizes. He arrived on time, presented a business card, and was extremely professional. He crafted a wooden support structure on the side of our house to support the extension of the prior venting system to meet code. Steve meticulously cleaned up every trace of his presence and created a very nice looking installation of this new heater. We love this tankless system, and it performs every bit as well as Steve promised. He recommended a UPS so it would allow us to finish a shower if the power went out before we got our generator going.
Description of Work: Replaced propane direct vent water heater tank with a Rinnai R75LSi tankless propane hot water heater, installed a whole-house pressure reduction valve, and corrected a code violation in existing venting system. This was all performed for the estimated price, despite some unexpected additional work.

It went well. Shannon was fast and knowledgeable. The changing of the thermocouple took about 10 minutes. They were also responsive. I called the night before around 7pm and got someone out at my house the next afternoon. The only thing was that there was no "free estimate" as was advertised in the company's posting on Angie's List. In order for someone to come out to diagnose the problem, it was about $129 for the service call.
Description of Work: Diagnosed why the water heater would not heat up the water, found out that it was the thermocouple and replaced it.

WE WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT WE DO GIVE FREE ESTIMATES FOR MAJOR PROJECTS (CONVERSIONS, RE-PIPES, TANKLESS WATER HEATER INSTALLATIONS, FURNACES, ETC). THIS WAS SIMPLY A SERVICE CALL ISSUE, AND NO ESTIMATE WAS NECESSARY OTHER THAN THE QUOTED FIRM SERVICE CALL PRICE OF $129.00. THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO CLARIFY. WE WILL STRIVE TO DO BETTER AT EXPLAINING OUR FEES IN THE FUTURE. WASHINGTON WATER HEATERS

Overall, this is one of the best customer service experiences we've had in quite some time. Our water heater sprung a leak sometime Friday night, the weekend of Easter. After attempting to fix the leak Saturday morning, and determining that the water heater was just too rusted out to fix, we called several people in hopes that someone could replace it that day. Based on the positive ratings on Angie's List, we gave Washington Water Heaters a call. They got back to us right away, sending someone out to at least quote on the replacement and see if they could patch our existing water heater at least until Monday. Steve got here about 6:30 Saturday evening, quoted the job, and then got to work installing the new system that evening instead of patching the old water heater. He stayed until after 10:00, getting us up and running with the new system. He then came back Sunday afternoon (Easter) to finish removing the old water heater. All in all - a great experience.

My husband called the company after our water temperature fluctuated daily and we felt that the problem was with the water heater. My husband said the representative on the phone was very helpful and friendly. They were able to send a technician out in a few days when we would be at the house (we were not living in it at the time) with two models of water heaters that may fit in the space. The technician arrived on time and was very friendly. He answered our questions thoroughly and gave us a recommendation and cost estimate. We decided to have him replace the heater since it was older than its typical lifespan. He removed the old heater and installed the new one within 90 minutes with little disruption to our other projects going on in the house at the same time. He was very friendly and pleasant to work with; we would be happy to contact this company again when we need to have our heat pump evaluated.
Description of Work: Our old water heater was evaluated in a house we recently purchased and was determined to to have been repaired incorrectly by the previous homeowners after the home inspection. The technician gave us a cost estimate and recommendations. He then removed the old water heater and replaced it with a new model. He also installed a temperature controller on top of the water heater and installed earthquake straps to ensure the heater met safety codes.

I called Steve Hagar after seeing an ad in a home magazine. He scheduled a visit within two days and arrived on time. During his visit he displayed his Angie's List award and I informed him that I was a member. We settled on an installation date (three days later). On the agreed date three trucks and three men, including Steve, arrived and began the installation. Everything was finished in less than four hours.

Discovered one of the two heaters leaking Saturday evening. Made a call to Washington Water Heaters based upon positive reviews on Angie's List. Spent at least 45 minutes on the phone with Steve discussing current set up and potential replacements. Steve spent a great deal of time and effort explaining and describing what would work best and what would not. Finally opted to go with single 50 gallon tank mostly because of cost. Day of work went very well, Steve explained what he was going to do, inquired if we would be interested in a tankless system and then he set about doing his job. Tank was installed quickly and afterwards Steve went over every part of the system. Clean up was done quickly and efficiently. Final cost was exactly as quoted over the phone. Great job and many thanks to Steve and Washington Water Heaters.

In the middle of cooking dinner for my husband on Valentine's Day we heard a noise coming from the basement. The noise was the sound of 50 gallons of hot water flowing out of the rusted hole in the container. We immediately checked Angie's List and found this company had great ratings. Despite that it was 7:30 on Valentine's Day, a gentleman took my call and some info and said they could have someone out the next day. The technicians arrived as planned after a courtesy call for running a bit late. They were pleasant, professional and friendly. They had quoted me the price for a Bradford White 50 gallon gas model but had a supplier issue and asked if we wanted a Rheem instead which he said was a more expensive model but they would charge me the quoted price. I said ok and within 2 hours they were done. They also went the extra mile to earthquake strap around a challenging situation and still threw that in for free as the Angie's List coupon. We'd use them again.

I contacted the company in the morning and Tom returned my call within a couple of hours. I had planned to install a tankless water heater at the point that my old one had problems. I accepted the bid and Tom was able to juggle his schedule and install the water heater the same day. The installation went well except for the appearance of the direct vent - it is on the front of my house adjacent to the front door. I don't think that Tom could have done anything about this because it is a design issue. In followup, after the job had been completed, I asked for a breakdown of labor and materials. I track this information on all work that I have done. It helps me in my record keeping and in making judgments on later purchases/work. Tom emailed me back to say that it was a "package deal". I didn't find this to be a useful answer and probably would have declined the bid if I had been told this earlier. Also, I suggest getting a backup battery for those times when the power goes out.

My old water heater died on Sunday and I called them Monday morning. Steve was prompt and very helpful with the pros and cons of a tankless water heater. We discussed the various options, which involved him crawling around the crawl space AND up into the attic. He did the work the same day and we are back with lovely warm water almost immediately.

My water heater tank quit on me about 4pm Saturday afternoon. I checked the list and called Washington Water Heaters. There was no fuss on the phone; nobody told me I needed a "permit" to replace an existing water heater. The gal told me she could have a technician to my home between 4pm and 6pm today; would that be okay with me? It was 4:07pm; WOW! Either I lucked out or this company really ROCKS! The tech arrived around 5:30 and was gone by 7pm. He explained my options and only offered a tankless hot water heater when I asked about it; he told me he wouldn't mind staying until after dark to install it but I opted for a simple replacement of my existing tank. "No problem", he said, and set to work immediately. The installation looks good and I was able to qualify for a rebate from PSE!

We like this company. Their bid for the tankless water heater is much lower than others, and they did a good job. He came on time, and worked efficiently. We are asking them to replace our furnace later too. They are honest, did extra work for us without charge (came over one day and helped us to locate the plumbing vent to our addition). We talked to both Tom and Steve and they are both excellent.

Responded for the estimate at a time that was convenient to us. Worked with us to find the best location for the heater. Proposed several alternatives and pro and con's of each solution. When I called back several days later they answered all my questions and we scheduled the installation at a convenient time for us. They showed up as scheduled. They had to route the plumbing through a maze of obstacles. They worked quickly and carefully. I was consulted when there was a choice about the details of the installation. They accommodated my requests. They did a very professional installation. They exceeded my expectations for the installation.
Description of Work: Replaced the tank water heater with an exterior Tankless water heater. They removed the old leaking tank. Ran new plumbing lines across the garage to the outside. Re-routed the existing gas line and ran a new line to the outside. Installed an electrical outlet outside. Then installed the new water heater outside the house.

Overall, I was very happy with this company. They came out and were able to do the install that same day. The removed the old water heater and installed the tankless in an outside closet. They were very up front about the limitations of the tankless so I was clear about what to expect. The only thing I regret is that I did not have the forethought to ask them to cut off the old gas and water pipes in a more attractive way. (They ended up sticking out all over the place.) I later had another contractor make them less obtrusive. It would have been nice for them to have done this anyway, but I didn't know to ask. They also gave an Angie's List discount.

We decided to switch over from traditional water heater to the tank less gas water heater after doing quite a bit of research. Initially thought we would buy one and install it ourselves and then decided to just have it done. First surprise was that most plumbers wouldn't do the work on tank less. Finally found a couple of companies and set up appointments for estimates. Tom from Washington Water Heaters showed up on time and did a great job telling us the pros and cons of the heater and what to expect. He was very honest and actually sold us a smaller version of the water heater than the other companies tried to and he was correct in his assessment. We really liked Tom and he was very professional. He gave us a bid on the spot which was quite a bit less (about $800) less than the first company we talked to and he scheduled on the spot when we accepted. They showed up on time, installed the heater, cleaned up well, and made it a nice experience. Great experience.

Steve was our representative. He was very prompt with returning our calls and arrived on time to perform the estimate and the installation. We were aware from previous reviews that the work would be slightly on the pricey side but we felt we got we paid for. They were very professional and efficient with the work. We were amazed at how long it took to actually remove the old water heater and have a new tankless installed. We had a question later about the hose bib that was installed and Steve quickly responded to our question and even made a visit to check on it in person.
