The man used a phrase "I'm not familiar with this system, but let's try this." I did not feel this situation was handled well at all. They did write us a check for over $700, but this still was not the answer to a very disturbing and disruptive situation.
Description of Work: They replaced a grinding motor in the sewage collection to force it out into the street to the city main. There is only one grinding motor, and it costs $5000 and had to come from Eugene, OR. We were out of our house for 2 weeks, and when they installed it, it still was not working. Then, they determined the driveway valve needed to be replaced. The valve was working and it was turned open. The person who came to excavate it said there was nothing wrong with it. This man suggested we should call another plumber. We had another plumbing company come and it took $380/$390 to fix it. They let us know some of the valves needed to be replaced. He also let us know the PVC pipe that holds three floats was upside down. Had we not been smart enough to call other people in, we would have paid $16,000 for a $5,000 job.

Hired southwest plumbing after my husband tried to replace a bathtub faucet and ended up cracking the plumbing and the water was leaking in the wall and coming through the ceiling of our downstairs. We had to shut the water off to our entire house to stop the leak and we called Southwest Tight away. They were able to come out the next morning and replace the faucet and pipes. They checked that the water leak was dried so we wouldn't encounter any mold issues in the future. The plumber was very friendly and highly professional. Would recommend to anyone!

We have used Southwest plumbing several times, and have always been satisfied. We accidentally flushed our keys down the toilet. The plumber sent had a feeling the keys were right on the edge of going down the drain. He took up hype toilet, and the keys were teetering on the edge of the flange! If they would have gone down the pipe, our bill would have tripled. He had an very good disinfectant to clean our keys, which saved us another $500. Every time Southwest Plumbing has performed services at our house, they have demonstrated amazing customer service.
Description of Work: Rescued keys from going down toilet drain. Took up toilet and reset.

My kitchen sink my clogged but they failed to unclog it the first time they came. The second time they tried to find out where the problem was in the sewer line. They said they could fix it but for thousands of dollars but I refused that service. I was not very happy with them. They charged a lot but did nothing to solve the problem. I ended up fixing the problem myself with a friend, in about 2 hours. They were responsive and punctual however, I will never use this service provider in the future.

Fixed a leak but really overcharged us. Our insurance agent was skeptical about the price and asked an independent contractor to come out and assess the work and give a fair price. It was several thousand less than we paid. This information was given to Southwest Plumbing but they refused to adjust their price. I said I would give them a bad review on Angie's List and was told that didn't really matter.

Leo came out and tried getting it unblocked and couldn't. He called in a specialist. The came out the next day and they were telling me that they needed to dig up my floor to get to where the blockage was. The Tried to unblock it once more without tearing up my floor and could not get it. They did not charge me. After Leo left, I had Jim Dandy came out and unclogged my Sewage line with no problem. He had a 150 foot snake. I called and talked to the manager and told them, they came out with a non-sufficient tool because if the line was more than 100 feet, they could fix it. My neighbor had the same problem as well. I am thankful that I got another opinion before they dug up my floor. I’m unhappy with this company and feel they are a scam. I also called at night and the company stated they had emergency service. They took my number and never called me back. When I called back, it was as if I had not called before.

They went under my house to confirm that the loss of hot water pressure wasn't a galvanized pipe issue - turns out it is all copper pipe (go to know). Then they examined the water heater and found it was a busted U-tube. On the spot replacment of the water heater, and all the faucets were disassembled and the screens were scraped & flushed. Very fast & affordable.

I got to know this plumbing company from mail Ad and called them when my kitchen sink was clogged last week. For the first visit the repairman tried to use a snake to unclog but it did not work. I was charged about $150 and was told they need to bring a camera man tomorrow. They almost forgot to put the cleanout cover on before they left my house. The next day the camera man came and spent 30 minutes putting the camera into the sink and told me it did not work either and I had a serious leaking problem. He charged me $300 for camera fee. Then he offered $4000 to cut the carpet, break the concrete and replace the pipe. I said it's too expensive. He said OK give him some time he will be right back. He returned to his truck, made some calls (I think) and later came back to offer $3200 for this job. He also told me not to call company office but instead contact him directly to perform the work. I did not take it. I bought a pressure water bladder from homedepot for $10 and unclogged the sink with help of a friend in an hour. This company is just trying to make more money from me. Fool me once, your bad. Fool me twice, my bad.

It went very well,! John was so pleasant, and they didn't charge me for any of that! ( Of course they charged for the sewer line, but not for the work done on May 20th) I wrote the full review in the first box, and can't copy it. I will definitely be using them again, and do refer others to them. They are great! And so much better than my experiences with Roto Rooter!
Description of Work: I had three issues for John Smith when he and his apprentice came to my house. He advised me that I did not need a new water heater to take advantage of an energy saver rebate. He looked at my occasionally dripping faucet, and advised me to replace the whole unit when it starts dropping again,to save money overall. He then suited up and explored my crawl space, to check on my sump pump as iI was concerned that it might not be working. Fortunately, it was very dry down there, and he explained that the sump pump has an alarm on it, which would go off if it stopped working. He was very cheerful and friendly, as well as professional, and remembered us from work done a year previously, replacing the sewer line to the street. For that service, they were very careful with the property and plants, replacing everything the way it had been! They were a full team that day, and worked quickly and efficiently, as well as very professionally, again. Southwest Plumbing has always been a pleasure to work with!

I called Southwest (I had used them several times before because I didn't know any other plumbers in the area) because I had a pipe leaking water pretty rapidly in my side yard. As usual, they were prompt in their attendance, professional and quite friendly. However once he looked at my muddy side yard, he began to say that it looked like he was going to have to dig up the side yard and very possibly if the pipe was the "wrong kind" it could cost between $7,000-$10,000, however, if it turned out to be black plastic, and pretty close to the surface, he could figure it would cost about $3,000. As I was living on my own at that time when my husband was working 20 hour days out of town, he convinced me that this would be an all day job and that it was going to cost $3,400 minimum. So stupid me, I was scared, in a panic, and desperately didn't want to continue to lose water into the street, I signed the estimate. He also tried to convince me that I should pay $300 for a water pressure valve as well--but he was out of those, so I did not have him replace that. I watched what he was doing and saw that it was indeed black plastic pipe and was only 6 inches below the surface of the muddy soil. It took him about 2 hours to stop the water, dig a small hole, and cut a piece of black plastic pipe to stop the leak. A couple of weeks later, I had a plumber over to do a small job, and asked him about this job. He was appalled at the amount we were charged. I was feeling pretty stupid--I had used up all of my savings for something my husband could have probably done for $40 had he been doing his normal hours. Worst of all, I ended up twisting my ankle where he had filled in the pipe in the muddy area and it had sunk so low that I tripped on the pipe. Southwest Plumbing is professional, highly skilled and has friendly plumbers. However, their price structure is VERY high for the industry in my opinion so I will no longer

I was new to this area and I found them based on the TV ads. They looked at the project and provided an estimate for $2800.00. I found another company that did the work for $375.00. I followed up with Southwest Plumbing asking why their bid was so much more expensive. They said they were going to do much more work than the other plumber, which was a blatant falsehood. They were very curt and unresponsive to my correspondence. I found their lack of interest in my issues alarming and clearly they were unconcerned about my problem with their pricing.

NEVER EVER CALL THESE GUYS Bottom Line: SW Plumbing provided an estimate of $2300 for work another plumber ended up doing for $391 Background: We had new countertops and a new kitchen sink installed. The counter guys would not reconnect pipes so we made an appointment with SW Plumbing. We also needed a new toilet installed. The day of our appointment with SW Plumbing: The plumber arrived and was arrogant from the start. He looked at the job which included: 1. Reconnect Sink (which we knew would require some new pipes and fittings) 2. Verify dishwasher connection 3. Connect a new Instant Hot water dispenser (the kind that dispense near boiling water for tea and noddles etc...) 4. Install a new toilet 5. Provide the cheapest toilet the could find (we looked at Home Depot and cheap ones run for about $100) He went to his van and wrote up an estimate for $2300. After our shock subsided, we asked him to show us all the details of the estimate: $180 to install a drain (provided by us), $180 to connect the drain to the pipes, $180 to connect the pipes to the elbow, $900 for the greatest toilet on earth etc?. We politely asked him to leave. We ended up calling another plumber who had done minor work for us in the past He ended up doing the work for a reasonable price (with a $100 toilet we provided)and was a very nice guy to boot.

They were late although I had been told that by the office. I told them where the problem was and they proceeded to check the other bathroom. In retrospect, I think they were trying to find more wrong. I then got a little worried when the one guy didn't know how to turn the water on to the toilet. Once they got the problem to happen their solution was to put a new pipe outside with a clean out. They were sure that they couldn't run a router through the toilet. I agreed to the fix. In hindsight I should have said "Thank you" and called someone else. I felt like I was railroaded into a decision Ever feel like you were ripped off? I do. THESE GUYS ARE TOTAL RIPOFF ARTISTS!

On date noted I called Southwest Plumbin at 12:30 p.m., requesting the services of a plumber. I was told that a plumber would arrive between 2 and 4 p.m. (the proverbial "2-hour" window). At about 3:30 p.m. a Southwest Plumbing dispatcher called and stated that "the plumber would be running a little late." At 5:35 p.m. a plumber arrived on job site, at which time I pointed out the location of the leak, which had already been exposed by the previous removal of a large section of sheet rock. The plumber left and went back to his truck and returned a short time later with the outrageous cost estimate of $515 to do the job. Due to the seriousness of the leak and the time of day, I was forced to accept the estimate. If they had been upfront and told me that they would not arrive until after 5 p.m. I would have contacted another plumber. The leak was pointed out to the plumber, which consisted of a crack or failure of an ABS fitting. To repair the leak required two 45-degree 2-inch ABS fittings (cost of each/$1.52 per Home Depot). The 2-inch ABS section of pipe could be purchased for $3.85 at Home Depot. The repair itself required gluing the two ABS fittings on the pipe and attaching them to the system: approximate time of arriving on job site and completion of repair, paperwork writeup: less than 1 hour. The total cost of the labor was $515--$486 for the repair of the plastic drain line, and an additional charge of $28 for the small section of sheet rock that was removed--all of the labor taking place in less than 45 minutes!! Would I recommend Southwest Plumbing to any other Angie's List customers--not on your life!!!

Well, here we go. One person came out to put on the new shower head. He was there for over an hour and charged $400. I said that I thought that was excessive and he told me "that is what we charge'. That night the shower head dripped constantly and I called back first thing in the morning. I was told that they could make it out at the end of the day. What arrived was the owner's son and another "plumber"............really??! They were not going to taketheir shoes off - they made that very clear and reluctantly put on filthy booties, which left a number of marks on my carpet. In addition son brought up a huge dirty pail and placed it directly on my whitecarpet - leaving another mark. They screwed around for another hour and then sonny commenced writing up a bill for ANOTHER $200. I told them it had been put on yesterday - by another plumber in their "company" and he argued with me for almost thirty minutes. The only way I could get them to leave was to call dispatch. They then left without threatening me any further. I am writing this on Angie'sList now, because I was not a member back then. I do NOT want anybody else to get ripped off by this "company". I feel so strongly about it because when I moved in 2010 and needed a plumber, a neighbour recommended a fantastic plumber so I KNOW they exist. They are the exact opposite of SW in their approach to business; ethics, professionalism; friendliness and cleanliness. I will mention their name if anybody wants - but I really do not want to mention their name in the same blog as SW - that would bean insult!!
Description of Work: Lousy is too good a word for this "company".I had purchased a new shower head (my expense) as the old one was leaking very badly. All I wanted was a plumber to come out and put it on. Called SW because I had a $75. coupon - price to replace - $400. after the coupon.........
