PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW.... An ok experience. Tight area in the alley behind our house (garage in back) and ran over and actually parked in our grass in order to get out of the way of neighbor traffic. I keep the yard in order and the grass looks perfect so that was a little disconnected to put it politely. Nothing special. It was a low price for services rendered, I get that but I would still expect more from a company looking to establish more clientele during a first impressions service. Maybe just an off day? I can accept that. :) Anyway, I was looking for a couple quotes on getting a new garage door opener. I told him what I was looking for and he gave me a projected ball park number and said I would be contacted with a specific quote. Never received them. So I called their company a week or two later and the woman on the phone said she would get those quotes out to me. Never received them. If the communication was bad when a customer is looking to give you money, imagine what it might be if there was a problem of some sort? Just not worth it to me to work with them again. Maybe they're the greatest and it was just random bad luck but all I have to go on is my experience so I'll be looking elsewhere next time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Jon called me after seeing my review and did EVERYTHING he could to make it right. There were no excuses or attitude but a sincere apology and offered a discount on a new garage door opener that I had been wanting to get. As they say, you only really get to experience the quality of a company's customer service if something goes wrong. Any company is great when there are no issues. The next technician that came out was outstanding. Was on time, did quality work, was professional and easy to talk to. It's been months now and my new opener is operating flawlessly. I've update my ratings to reflect this and I figure that my original experience was the exception, not the rule. Will definitely recommend Sound Door Services going forward. In my experience, not many companies make such an effort to make things right when an issue arises.

It goes well. He first tuned up and found the trouble: the broken wheels and de-formed rails. He then straighten the rails and replaced all the wheels.

He showed up on time, figured out why garage door wasn't working and fixed it. Also helped program new remotes.

Sound Door Services did a great job! They returned my call quickly, had someone out quickly to confirm that yes, the opener was irretrievably broken, and scheduled the work on the spot. Jon and Chris arrived on time, replaced the opener, greased all the rollers, and made sure everything was in working order. They even weighed the door and checked the springs so that when - not if, when, because the door is over 20 years old - the springs break, they'll know what they need to bring along to do the repair.

Owner was very responsive every time I contacted him. I made this purchase on a deal in May, but our house didn't close until September. He was very flexible with us waiting so long. The technician showed up right on time. The work was done and it turns out we didn't even need a new spring. He put a new pin in the opener for us and showed us how it worked. He went above and beyond by lubricating (a lot!) all the hinges which hadn't been used in 5 years. We are very happy with the service we received and how we were treated. A+!

James was awesome! We have a 1940 single car garage with a slight tilt. The existing opener was at least 15 years old and the limit switch was inoperable. It required timing the push of the remote a 2nd time to keep the door closed and often this meant a slight gap at the bottom due to timing of when the button is pushed. Also the motion of the travel was hurky-jerky but I thought that might mean it needed lubrication. James pointed out some technical installation issues from the past that were problems and how a new low profile track system would solve the problems plus they didn't have a new limit switch on the old Genie motor due to the age of the unit. The low height of the door meant a sharper bend, and the low profile track system is two tracks wherein the first section rollers travel to one track on top of the other track thus making the initial bend less sharp and the rest of the door panels rollers travel on the lower track. After listening to the advantages of a new Liftmaster motor and the other points I decided to replace the motor and the tracks plus two new shaft bearings. The cost was more than I was hoping to spend for a new motor, but in the end I think it was worth it from a long term perspective and the skill of James the installer. The Liftmaster technology is very impressive including being very quiet with the belt system, two lights instead of just one, a motion sensor for the lights that causes the lights (not the motor) to come on when you walk into the garage, a separate light button to control the lights if desired inside the garage, a wall control that gives time and temperature in the garage, digital programming of door travel distance (no more hanging trip wires), the new remote seems to have better distance capability then the old remote, and the motor system even has WiFi that allows you to use your smart phone to control the system via an app if your home router WiFi is close enough to the motor system to transmit a signal that the system can receive. Getting back to the actual installation and alignment, I appreciated that the person sent to us, James, was very experienced and sharp in figuring out how to make the door tracking work in spite of the out of plumb challenges the garage door opening itself presented. All in all we are very happy with the results.

I called and explained issue, they were able to be out the next day first on the call list. The service person called on road letting me know his ETA. Chris did a great job, replaced the photo cell sensors and re-wired with better wires. He did a check up and tightened and lubed rollers. After he showed me things I can do on a regular basis to lubricate to make it run smoothly. As for now it runs much quieter and smoother after the service and the safety photo cell works with no problems.

I had a problem with my door, which I've found out that needed to be replaced. I contacted 4 different contractors for quotes. Unlike other contractors, Sound Door Services came out to get me the estimate for free. However, I was a bit short on the money because of $20K I spent on the sewer line earlier this year, so I went with a different contractor who provided me the most affordable option. Although I didn't go with Sound Door Services, my experience with it was pretty good. The estimator (sorry, I forgot the name) was very professional and punctual. I would definitely keep Sound Door Services as my option in the future and would also recommend to my friends. Thanks!

Very good - now this works silently and the door closes properly. The person who'd come over was really great and even told us how to maintain and what to look for.

I called Sound Door Services to repair a garage door that was not opening all the way. They did not install the doors originally, but I didn't want to deal with the company that did the installation. The first thing Jon (Jonathan Jacobs) pointed out was the tracking system was outdated and no one installs this type of system anymore. He called the manufacturer of the system and got the information he needed to do the repair work. He went above and beyond and did an outstanding job. DEFINITELY recommend Sound Door Services.

Our garage door was problematic for over a year. DIY methods didn't work so I looked on Angie's List for reviews. Sound Door Services had a great rating. I purchased a Garage Door Tune-Up deal and set an appointment. Chris called to let me know he was on the way and arrived on time. He was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Chris inspected, fixed and cleaned the unit. He educated us on maintaining it. As a separate issue, I also had him install a new key-less entry pad and remote control. Everything works smoothly now. Chris is an exceptional technician and I highly recommend Sound Door Services!

Til the day that the installer came out to install my two-new garage doors, I wondered if I had selected the right vendor. Price was right but was the quality? Before I knew it Juan had my old homemade wooden swing-up doors laying on the driveway and it was only forward from there. Being unable to stand on my feet, I spent the next several hours in my "office chair" trying to stay out of Juan's way as he opened container after container, sorting part after part, all from memory. Then he put it all together, piece by piece until I had two beautiful brand new doors on my garage. I cannot begin to say how impressed I am with Juan's abilities and his sense of neatness in doing the job. All squared off wire runs, everything securely mounted. Plus he was one of the most pleasant individuals I have ever met.

The tech was on time, friendly and efficient. He quickly made the repairs, explained what to expect and left me a contact number in case I needed anything. A week or so later the door started making unusual noises so I called them back and they found that one of the springs was catching on a beam, fixed it at no charge and it's worked like a dream ever since. We were very happy with the service, including the follow-up.

The advice given was that our opener was 12+ years old, and Sound Door Services would be glad to repair it for around $200. For around $600, we could have a new top of the line belt-driven garage door opener installed, programmed, paired with our cars, etc. Either way, they were glad to help. We choose to go with the new garage door opener, which had to be ordered. Once it arrived, the technician called, scheduled, returned, installed and programmed the unit, cleaned and lubed our door, and had me pay my finished invoice on the spot using Quickbooks Online on his iPad. Overall, amazing customer service in office, in the field, and we'd highly recommend Sound Door services again! Thanks guys A+++
