It was a poor experience overall. I felt the sales woman really pushed me with an aggressive sales pitch. The person in charge of measuring was, in my opinion, was late but then later he told me that an arrival time is a flex time and that he is allowed to show up which in a half an hour window, but I was not informed of this. Or I would have scheduled for another time. When the windows were installed, the blinds no longer fit and overhung the space. I was later told that re-installation of the blinds was not guaranteed. My response is that they should have told me that from beginning because the blinds cost 875 dollars and I went not have installed windows if these blinds could not be used. They did take the blinds and have them cut down so they would a least fit somewhat, but they still overhang; the measuring person told me no matter what windows I got that this would have been true and I think that they should make customers aware of this before the new windows were installed.
Description of Work: I had new front windows installed and I paid for by blinds to be re-installed.

The sales person contacted was Greg Johnson. Greg was very thorough in explaining the quality of vinyl composite which Renew by Andersen use versus vinyl the other competitors sold. The original quoted price was higher than we budgeted but because of promotions the other competitors offered, we were able to negotiate final sales price to be within our budget. yes, the vinyl composite does make a difference. Three of our neighbors asked about the windows from Renew by Andersen. A woman driving past our home stopped to look at the windows. She turned her vehicle around and stopped to jot down Renew by Andersen's phone number. The installers Aaron King and Vantha Men are very professional. Runners were placed in the house wherever they would be walking. All the windows on the outside were lined with vinyl to catch all the debris. Aaron and Vantha worked well as a team. They were quick, efficient, and very thorough. My wife and I are very happy we chose Renew by Andersen to replace the windows in our home!
Description of Work: We had 12 windows replaced in our house.

Once a plan is established, they are a great company. However, getting to that point can take some time. Their salesperson can be difficult to get a hold of at times.

Everything went smoothly and finished on time.
Description of Work: Replaced seven 40 by 80 single paned and five 40 by 48 also single paned with double paned windows. First replacement since house built in 1954. Repair of moderately extensive rot damage. Windows were all custom made and they matched perfectly well our all mahogany wood in the living room from the original first built house . Installers were very professional. The windows face the southern winds and the house is on the sound facing Tacoma. I would compromise on cars, electronics, furniture but I wanted the best windows. There were no other bids so I have no price comparisons. I have confidence based on one additional report: a personal friend 1/2 block from my house was invited for dinner, he has many years of experience as a general contractor. While having dinner and without discussing the subject he stood up and he looked at our windows. His comments: superb windows and great job.

I had previous contact with Carol from Renewal last year but we were not ready to go ahead with the job. Recently, we were in a better place to get the job done and worked with Carol to develop a very detailed quote (the best I had ever seen). Carol remembered everything about our house and didn't need to come back out. The products are beautiful and extremely well constructed. Unfortunately, they were also a bit more expensive than what we wanted to spend. We will definitely consider them again when we look at our downstairs windows. A wonderful experience and great product

The installers, Josh, Thomas and Mark arrived on time and ready to work. They were all very professional, friendly and clean. The job too 1 and 1/2 days to complete, which was pretty fast in my opinion. They used drop cloths over all areas and when the work was completed they vacuumed everything up. It is unavoidable not to have some dust so I would reccomend that the homeowner cover furniture and bedding with old sheets, plastic or something to avoid any dust that might get on them. The windows look great and match our existing windows that did not need replacing yet, that was very important to us and we are very happy with the result. Not only that we never have to paint these windows so that is a great plus. I would reccomend renewal by Andersen to anyone who want a beautiful high quality product and great people who do the work. PS. I liked the installers so much that I even baked chocolate chip cookies for them! Linda Pearce
Description of Work: We first met Greg Johnson, the sales representative to have him go over all of our existing windows to determine which needed to be replaced. After that was decided, the windows were measured and then we received a quote for the cost. Greg was very professional and most pleasent to work with. I would give him an A + for sure. The only thing that was somewhat surprising was the total cost. I realize just how expensive good quality windows are and these are not inexpensive, but when you compair the quality and apperence of the windows they seem worth it in the long run.

From initial contact through finishing work, Renewal was very responsive and easy to work with. The windows are high quality and installed well with little fuss. We had some questions with window screens (very large double hung windows were installed) and Renewal comped us the screens when they were not what we were expecting.
Description of Work: We'd had a few casement windows replaced in 2007 and loved them so much that we had more done in 2009. All told, we've had 8 windows replaced. Some are fixed windows and some are double-hung and the renewal representative worked hard with us to find the right window for the different situations.

From showroom visit to installation, working with the folks from Renewal by Andersen was a pleasure (except for the part when I paid... that was just okay). * Showroom visit: it was GREAT to be able to see and touch the installed products. * Initial in-home measurement: the representative was personable, professional, and knowledgeable. * Technical measurement: Prompt, quick, and keen-eyed. They were the ones who spotted the rotten exterior sills. Executing a change order was a flash and saved a great deal of time and hassle down the road. * Installation: Once scheduled, the installation team was fast, efficient, and professional. They did a great job installing the windows (though were a bit delayed by an untrue wall). They finished the work ahead of schedule AND were able to work around full set of office furniture in front of one window (a huge relief as we were worried we'd have to disassemble the furniture to accommodate the work). There were two minor glitches: one which I noticed, one which the installers noticed. Fixing those glitches was moved to the front of the installers' queue and were addressed immediately. On the morning of the touch-ups, I asked the installer if he could reframe a door to better match the windows. Since there was extra wood leftover, he agreed and did the work that day. Remarkable windows and remarkable customer service! Note: there was a 6-7 week wait between ordering windows and having them installed. This delay may be normal, but it took me a bit by surprise.
Description of Work: Replaced 'vintage' (i.e., single-paned, aluminum-framed, 1941-era, painted and repainted, and very leaky) windows with new, double-paned windows throughout the house (11 windows total). One window was enlarged to enhance the view of the garden. The exterior sills of three windows were replaced when installers discovered rotting wood in the frames of the original windows.

From the sales rep to the installers - everyone from Renewal by Andersen was very professional and easy to work with. The installers were on time, took care around my furniture, didn't bang up my walls, were courteous and pleasant and cleaned up at the end of each day. One window came from the factory with a cracked frame, but the re-order was expedited and was installed two weeks later to complete the job. I've had my windows and new door for about a month now and can tell and significant difference in the warmth of my house. I would definitely recommend this company and brand of windows again.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows and a sliding door in my home. Also had them replace the jam extensions, window sills and trim around the windows and door.

This company is quality. For starters, the owner (Matt Gonzalez) came out himself to do the quote and I have to say it was one very well spent hour of window education. I loathe sales people, and unlike some of the other quotes we got, Matt wasn't pushy at all - just informative, straight forward and honest. We were on a tight budget and he really worked with us to stay within it, even giving us an Angi's list discount too. We'd been tempted by much cheaper custom companies, and even the Home Depot, but am so thankful we went with this company. For one, our 1903 house is very very very much out of square so having custom made windows and a custom installation was crucial (and even still, it apparently was the most challenging install these guys had ever done). As to the windows themselves? They aren't all plastic and have some recycled wood products in them, so they are actually paint-able which is nice if you don't want to pay for the custom tinted frames. They open at the top and bottom so you can easily clean them from within your house (nice since we have two very high stories) too. We also splurged on the 'invisible' screens for the front windows and they are AMAZING. You really can't see any screen when you look through them. The installation was done ahead of schedule and the work team polite, efficient, and clean. Overall, like I said, not the cheapest but not the most expensive, and you get what you pay for. I really hope to have these guys back again to do the rest of our windows next year!
Description of Work: We had 9 windows replaced and 2 repaired in our 1903 Craftsman home.

The quality of their windows is excellent. It's made quite a difference in the aesthetics of our home. It was a pleasure to deal with everyone we came into contact with from the sales people, to the office support, to the installers. Everything was done on time and according to budget. In fact they even installed our windows a couple weeks sooner than anticipated and just in time for the colder weather. We are very pleased and would certainly work with them again. I highly recommend this company!

Overall, we had a great experience with Andersen. The one area of frustration was that the bid price kept changing and had multiple mistakes. Our initial bid was closer to $24,000, but since our project was a large one, the salesperson kept losing track of details and so things were missed and then came up later. It took a lot of back and forth before we had the full final bid. Also, it wasn't clear what was being charged for, e.g.I thought the upgraded hardware was on the initial bid, but it wasn't, so when I went to sign the contract there was an additional $3000 that had to be added for the hardware. Whenever mistakes were pointed out, the company was very responsive. All of the staff at Andersen were wonderful. The installers were great and we love our windows.

The regional manager came over to give us a quote and gave us some great suggestions on how to replace our hideous picture window. He was professional and not pushy in the least (unlike some other window reps we could mention - ugh!). We decided right away to go with Renewal, even though they are not the least expensive option. According to our research, windows cost about $1000 per opening and they were in the ballpark. Even though they were in their busy season, they were able to fit us in about 4 weeks later. The job took about 1 and 1/2 days. After they were finished, I couldn't even tell that they had been in the house - except for our beautiful new windows. They did an exceptional job cleaning up and protecting our floors. They also were careful not to trample any plants outside. We've had our windows for about 6 months now and we love them. Our house is quieter, warmer (and cooler in the summer) and has better ventilation with the double hung windows.

I loved my old windows but they had many problems. I was primarily concerned with energy efficiency of the old single pane style. But also they were hard to clean, some didn't open, they didn't have real screens, the inside of part of the windows looked moldy, and they don't block noise. Andersen windows had always had such a great reputation that when I saw an ad in the Sunday paper for Renewals by Andersen, I looked them up on Angie's List and saw that they had great reviews. I expected the whole house to be about $20K although I hoped it was less. The salesman came out and explained about the windows and took special care about my special needs the odd door and windows in the second floor. He recommended casement windows for these but wasn't sure if they could be built in that size and wasn't sure he had a solution for door. He also recommended the special sun glass for the that room as it gets very hot in the summer. He took rough measurements and note the look of all the windows. He told me it would be about $25K and when I gasped he said he usually speaks on the high end so people get more comfortable. We made an appointment for a showroom visit. When I got to the showroom he had a solution for the door and the windows. He showed a model of the windows and what the sunglass was like. It went downhill from there. He went into speech about what a special deal he got for me for $21K. I told him that was ok as I was expecting to pay $20K but $1K more wasn't that bad. I really felt like he put on an act and he really just gave me the price. I wanted to discuss options with him but he really got annoyed and rolled his eyes when I asked. He kept saying that's more expensive and sighed. He said this was the last day of the month for him as he was going out of town. He must of said this about 6 times. I'm not sure why I cared that he was going out of town. As it started to seem he just wanted to close the deal and really not give me what I wanted, I came very close to walking out to check out other vendors. He then offered to throw in the antique brass hardware I wanted for part of the house if I signed the deal. I did and gave him a deposit. The next step is when the detailed measurement guy comes out. He was very courteous and professional. The windows took 8 weeks to arrive. A three day installation was scheduled but it took less then two days. I was thrilled with the installation a team of four came out. When they encountered problems, at no extra cost, they fixed them by replacing rotted wood, they put a new door frame on added a threshold to make it air tight. There were a couple of order issues: I pointed out that the door didn't seem like it was sun glass. The made a mistake in ordering that and the special hardware. Also, they found that one of the screens had a tear. They promised to fix all these problems. The quality of the windows, the installation, and the crew are all excellent. It makes up for the high price.
Description of Work: All the original windows and 1 door was replaced in my 98 year old house with custom double pane vinyl replacements. The windows were mostly double hung with grills on top only to replicate the look of my original windows. I got the high end double insert grille. Two windows were casement windows and the door was a special exterior small door for the second floor. The casement windows and door also had special sun glass. Andersen removed and hauled away the old windows. It took about 1.5 days to do but they schedule three.
