Description of Work: I wanted to get rid of 38 years of miscellaneous household furnishings. A few pieces were of good quality, but most of it was of average or below average quality.

Description of Work: Th owner came out to my house to evaluate and determine whether it made sense for them to do an estate sale for my mother's belongings.

Description of Work: We had put everything out on tables, then they came in and re-sorted and priced everything very quickly and efficiently. For the most part I think things were priced well, but there were some things I think they priced too high and they didn't sell. The displays looked very nice. As the sale progressed and tables started getting empty spots they would move things around to make it look like the tables were still full. | |I only have three concerns/complaints about their process, otherwise they would have gotten straight A's on their score. The first was that we had put things together that were matching sets and when they moved things around they broke up some of the sets on different tables and priced things separately (examples: complete china set, Nintendo systems, matching crystal glassware). We had to go around find all the pieces and put the sets back together which took about an hour or so of our time the night before the sale. | |Secondly, it seems like (I can't be sure, but I did see a couple of them take items out of the closet and take them up to the register. I just don't know when they put the stuff in the closet initially) a few of the employees may have chosen a few things for themselves and put them aside in the closet. Then when the sale was over they bought them at the 50% off price that was offered during the last couple hours of the sale. If that was the case it is possible that a customer might have bought them at full price if they had been on the table during the early part of the sale that was not discounted. It wasn't a lot, but would have preferred if they had asked if it was OK first. | |Lastly, they put an item that was fairly dirty on the light colored carpet without putting something under it, so the carpet got a little dirty. | |Prior to choosing Girlfriend's Estate Sales and Service we had another estate sale company come in and give us an estimate for their services who told us that they didn't think we'd make $5000 gross before their fees. Our gross for this sale was over $9400 and after their fees we netted over $6000. The contract stated that our net proceeds check would be mailed within two weeks, but they mailed it within a week. | |Overall, it was a positive and satisfactory transaction and I would recommend them or use their services again if the need should arise again.

Description of Work: They came to our house and assessed the items we wished to consign. They later sent someone to pick up the items. They were friendly, helpful and gave us good referrals for other sources for the items they could not take.

We did not have enough to make an estate sale worthwhile but she was extremely helpful in pointing us in the right direction to start getting organized and figuring out what to do next.

Description of Work: Wasn't sure that we had enough stuff to have a real estate sale's group come in and sell it. GES&S stopped by and gave me an honest and fair evaluation of what we had to sell and said it would probably not be in our best interest to hire them. Then she suggested some other sites that might be of help. Pleasant, on time and no charge for a lot of good information and an honest estimate of what we had and why. If I ever have enough stuff for them to have a sale, I will definitely give them a call, and I am telling anyone else that may need their services that GES&S is the place to start.

Their services and fees were explained clearly and professionally. We decided not to pursue this option at this time, but would definitely hire them if we go this direction in the future.

Description of Work: Estate liquidation sale - entire contents of home, garage, yard. Owner and team went through all contents, displayed, set up, priced and managed/policed sale, as well as all advertising.

Description of Work: Girlfriends Estate Sales came highly recommended from a friend. Becky came out for a free consultation and surveyed my belongings, gave me estimates, explained the process and I realized this was way more than just a garage sale. Becky offered several choices on services from complete set up of the house and price everything and hold a one or two day estate sale. Or if I I wanted to do the work myself she could just come out and price my items for an hourly rate. She provided all of the workers, tables, cash register, advertising (great website with pictures that show everything that was for sale). Her percentage was reasonable and we talked about defining clear goals (making money from the sale versus emptying the house of everything). For me it was a little bit of both but mostly just needed the house empty in order to list it for sale. This was very important and something I hadn't really thought about. Two weeks before the sale her team (very nice and friendly and FAST) brought in tables (and table clothes), emptied drawers and cabinets, placed items of value in secure areas and basically transformed the house into a showroom. They returned a few days later to put price tags on everything. During the sale the team worked hard to encourage sales, move items around to display better and basically were working constantly. At the end of the sale, the team cleaned everything up, donated what didn't sell and left the house cleaner than when they began! Vacuumed and swept and virtually ready to list it. Becky promptly mailed my check within a week. While this was definitely a process that I wasn't really prepared for, Becky and her team made the experience go so much more smoothly than if I had tried to do this myself. I was amazed at the amount of work that goes into this sort of thing. I am so grateful that I hired Becky and used her service to help me and would recommend her services to anyone. I would advise anyone that this is a process and to be prepared. I had to do my share and due diligence to make it possible for Girlfriends Estates to do such a great job.
