They responded quickly to my call for a free estimate. I chose them out of other highly rated Angie's List companies. After I chose them to do the job they set up a day to do the work promptly. Andy was great and showed up the day of the job to set things up. His son and crew showed up shortly after and got started right away. The worked quickly and carefully. They were organized and worked very well together. They paid particular attention to the surrounding plants and structure to avoid any damage. They cleaned thoroughly when done. I gladly paid them our agreed to price. I would use them again next time we need a tree removal and would highly recommend them to any others who need trees removed anywhere in their yard.
Description of Work: Had a tree removed in the far corner of our backyard in a small area.

Andy, the owner came and assessed the needs of our trees, and emailed an estimate the very next day. He was professional, extremely nice, honest, and really knew about trees. Within five days, Andy was back with three very nice young men who took care of our trees. When they were finished, everything was explained to us and we took a tour of our new"yard." To say the trees looked magnificient would be an understatement. The transformation in only a few hours was astounding! We couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome! We really appreciated Blue Ribbons professionalism and honesty. We would highly reccommend them to anyone and actually already have! A first rate company!
Description of Work: Blue Ribbon did a major health and aesthetics pruning on our five very overgrown fruit trees. One of the pear trees needed a small amount of retrenchment pruning and an apple tree had some fungus and rot on it. These trees were significantly overgrown. We also had part of an apple tree branch on the roof (from one of the recent big windstorms) which needed to be removed. Our trees were in very bad shape and we didn't want to lose them. Thanks to Blue Ribbon, all of them were saved.

I sent an email to Blue Ribbon via Angie's List, and got both an email response and a phone call the next morning from Andy, the owner. He came over to see the situation and do an estimate the next morning. Though his bid seemed a little high, it was totally clear that Andy really knows his trees and runs a legitimate business that provides, among other important things, insurance for people climbing trees with sharp implements. We had been badly burned the year before by someone cheaper who had come recommended to us as an expert [NOT!!], who decimated one tree and badly pruned our beloved Coral Bark Maple in the front yard. Complicating things was that I wanted pruning fast because we were having company on the weekend. Fortunately the weather cooperated beautifully and Andy and his crew were working on a project nearby that allowed them to fit our job in the next day. Andy, his son, and two other guys, all clean-cut, athletic-type, trained pruners came over and did everything very professionally -- including total cleanup -- in less than 2 hours!! We've gotten lots of complements already! Good pruning makes such a difference in the beauty of a tree and my husband and I are thrilled with the job they did. Our only regret is that we couldn't quite afford to do our crabapple trees and flowering dogwood right now, but we will definitely have Blue Ribbon back to do those at a later time.
Description of Work: Blue Ribbon did a GREAT job providing these services: Pruning and arborist advice on a 25 ft Magnolia tree that had some damage to the trunk. Pruning on a 25 ft Coral Bark Maple that had been badly pruned last year and was also growing into wires. Pruning and shaping of 2 very large Camellia bushes, plus untangling of one of them from an old Apple tree next to it, and a huge Cedar behind it, both of which also needed light pruning. Pruning of a 25 ft Butterfly Bush so that it both allowed a view and retained privacy for our close friends and neighbors. Pruning back of a huge, old oak leaf hydrangea in preparation for it to be transplanted, and last but definitely not least, pruning back and weaving into a 30ft wide trellis of an antique climbing rose bush that had gone out of control-- "over the top" and into the yard--and has HUGE thorns.

Blue ribbon came in and did the job very fast. We were fortunate that they had a slot open between jobs and fit us in. They showed up with a crew of 5 and got it all done in less than two hours. They left the logs (firewood now) for us and asked where and how we wanted things done. Very attentive, very professional, very fast and a great job done.

We had a row of six ornamental cedar trees that were split and leaning on the overhead cable wire and the fence. I called Andy on Tuesday and left a voicemail. He returned my phone call within ten minutes and we made an appoinment for him to come by and give us an estimate the next day. He arrived in the morning and gave us his opinion that the trees were too far gone and could not be saved. His quote was very fair for the work required and we agreed to it on the spot. Happily his team was working in our neighborhood that day, so he arranged for them fit us in that same afternoon. The Blue Ribbon team had the trees down and the work area completely cleaned up in about three hours despite the fact that they had to dispose of a large bees nest. I was very grateful to have the opportunity to work with a terrific local company. I add my superlatives to all of the Angies list customers who have also used Blue Ribbon before us. Thanks to Andy and crew for a job very well done. I will definitely be calling them again.

From start to finish, Blue Ribbon was excellent! The Scotch pine is right next to our front sidewalk and had large limbs growing nearly straight down to head height. I was unsure if it should be removed or if could be safely limbed up enough to let in some light. My primary concern was that the mature Japanese maple growing directly underneath the pine would not be damaged. Several years ago we had a tree service drop a limb unto the maple and break off about a third of the tree. I was sorely in need of an arborist's knowledge and expertise. Andy came out and walked through various options for the pine. I was happy to learn that the canopy could be raised and Andy chose to bring in a lift to make sure they could safely remove large limbs without damaging the maple. He recommended doing a crown clean-out, as well as raising the canopy and reducing the lateral weight and priced out two different options. I appreciated the time he took to explain the pros and cons of each option and the ability to decide what level of service we wanted. We opted for the more extensive service and the tree looks wonderful! I really wish I'd taken before and after pictures. The alders were pretty straight forward removals. The crew did a great job cleaning up and left the firewood rounds stacked neatly. I had bids from two companies that were well rated on Angie's list. Blue Ribbon was several hundred dollars less than the other and I could not be happier with their work. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be calling again.
Description of Work: Blue Ribbon Tree service removed three alder trees and raised the canopy and did a crown clean-out on a huge Scotch pine. The Scotch pine required a lift and significant expertise as there is a large Japanese maple growing right under and literally around the trunk of the pine.

Both my neighbor and myself we thoroughly impressed by Andy and the Blue Ribbon team and I would not hesitate to recommend thier company. I chose them from thier great reviews on Angies and now I know why. This is a company with genuine values and it shows in every aspect of thier engagement. Often one expects to pay a premium for top qualitty service and execution, but in this case Blue Ribbon came in at the lowest of all three bidding contractors. Just when you think that serivce is dead in the USA, here is a company that suggests there are some sparks of it alive and well.

The overall experience was excellent. I contacted Blue Ribbon and had an appointment for an estimate scheduled within two days. Andy came out and spent a good deal of time examining both the height and health of my trees. He listened closely to my concerns and was extremely thorough in explaining my options. Shortly after the evaluation, Andy emailed me a quote with a well-defined scope of work and an itemized list of each service recommended. Additionally, he had outlined which of the tasks were higher priority and which could wait if there were budget constraints. After reviewing the quote, Andy scheduled the work within a week. The tree crew arrived promptly and did a tremendous job. The trees have never looked better and they didn't so much as leave a stray twig behind during the clean-up process. That same evening, Andy called back to make sure we were happy with trees and to see if we had any questions. I highly recommend working with Blue Ribbon. They are prompt and conscientious professionals who emphasize quality customer service.

Andy is personable and knowledgable. He is very honest. Previously service providers have tried scare techniques to get me to get down trees on our acreage. Andy LOVES trees and will do anything he can to make trees safe, by balancing them or cabling them. He checks the trees on my property annually to make sure they are healthy.
Description of Work: Andy and his team have worked on our properties many times over the years. Recently they performed a major tree service at our home. 14 trees were removed from the front yard. Andy skillfully evaluated which trees were dying and which trees needed to be removed to open up the view of the yard. His team is friendly and polite. They worked quickly and skillfully.

Fantastic! They arrived at 8:30 am and were done by 10:00. They removed over a 100ft fir tree from a very tight spot in our driveway. I was amazed at how professional and quick they were about removing our tree. The follow through was fantastic, would definitely use them again for future tree removal.
Description of Work: We had received a few bids and we were very impressed with the customer service and responsiveness we received from Andy @ Blue Ribbon. The follow through was awesome, greatly appreciated that they confirmed our appointment the week prior and showed up on time. The professionalism was fantastic. We wouldn't use anybody else for our tree removal. We had a 100ft fir tree that was in a very tight spot removed and what a difference it makes in our driveway now. Highly recommend Blue Ribbon

The arborist, Kurt, showed up first and designed the general work to be done. Andy, the owner, showed up with the rest of the crew and briefed them on the details. The crew got to work, and worked hard for five hours. They had lunch with us, and then finished the up. Everything was done, including the clean up and cutting of firewood. I am very much pleased with the results. They are great people.

Everything went well -- we were very pleased with the work. Also, Andy gave us a 10% Angie's member discount (unexpected). We look forward to working with his company again.
Description of Work: The arborist (Andy) stopped by to examine a 43-yr old big leaf maple that showed signs of disease. He confirmed that it should be removed at our earliest convenience. While there, he reviewed the rest of our large trees & gave us helpful info on them. He also advised wind trim for a large douglas fir. He gave us estimates for both jobs. A few days later, as arranged, Andy and his crew removed the maple & trimmed the doug fir. He reserved the maple wood for our neighbor & placed the wood in the desired spot. We kept all the chips from both trees for mulch.

This was a small job for most tree services, and we had two companies not even respond to a request to bid. When we contacted Andy, he promptly let us know he was booked but would get back to us soon. When he had another job in our area, he contacted us and came by to look at the job. Since it was a small job, he was able to do it the same day. The work was done well. The removal of the dying tree was done with minimal damage to surronding vegetation and landscaping. The pruning of the camellia tree was very nicely done. A lot of the excess branches were removed, but the tree still looks nice and has good form. We were very satisfied with the work.

I received bids from three providers found on Angie's List and received three very different reports on my weeping cherry. It's an old tree that provides the only shade in my back yard, and I would like to preserve as long as possible. One bidder thought I should remove it and replace it with a bird bath (!), another said it needed nothing. Andy from Blue Ribbon took the time to explain what was needed and why, and assured me that the tree still had several good years if cared for properly. The maples are on my parking strip and had become an issue for pedestrians. They were quite full and not receiving the proper sunlight as a result. Andy was very informative and knowledgeable. I accepted his bid, and he arrived with the 4-man crew the day of the job to explain to them in my presence what was needed before he left. The work was done efficiently, all workers were pleasant, and the yard was cleaned up perfectly before they left. Great service from a great team.

We call the company for the estimate. They were really flexible for scheduling the time and they came to the house right on time ( even it was early morning). We left some additonal question on their answering machine on the next day. Will's cell phone got down or something so he couldn't call us back. He knocked our door in the same afternoon to just give us the answer. The price was good, especially with the stamp grinding. So we asked to check the schedule for the job. He came back in 10 minutes and suggested the same day. The job started a couple of hours after that. They cut down trees and grinded the stamps and clean up good, especially the drive way. He worked until 8 p.m to complete the job. We noticed on the next day that they chipped a little bit of the corner of our house, but over all we were happy the job they did. We had so many "not that good" experience with tree cutting people in the past. When we had to hire a tree cut again, we definitely go with them again.

The initial appointment for an estimate on removal of the fir tree was set up in a reasonable time and the arborist was on time. In addition to looking at the tree to be removed, he also assessed the impact of the removal on the surrounding trees and took a look at the overall condition of some other trees in our yard. He provided some recommendations on a replacement for the tree that was to be removed as well as some other suggestions. I really appreciated him sharing his expertise on what we did or didn't need to do to keep them in good health. This was the only company that took the time to do this out of several that I talked to. While they were not the cheapest company, the value added from the arborist taking the time to talk with me about the trees and the yard was easily worth the extra dollars. When we decided to proceed with the removal (several months later), he came and marked the trees within a few business days of my call and had the removal crew out a day after that. He communicated clearly regarding the timing of the process. The removal crew was professional and respectful of our yard and our neighbors. The arborist was there at the beginning to walk the crew through what needed to be done, as well as at the end when they were wrapping up. They cleaned up all the debris from the tree removal when they were done leaving it in a safe condition. The pruned tree looks great - very nice shape.

Great. Their certified arborist came out, assessed the situation and took the time to fully explain to me my options. He displayed great expertise in his knowledge of trees. I also had him look at a tree in the backyard which he recommended waiting to trim. We agreed on a price, date, and time. His crew arrived as scheduled and had the job completed even earlier than I expected (in spite of less than ideal weather conditions that morning). They cleaned up very well. Excellent job of both customer service and performing the work.
