ACORN CUSTOM CABINETRY

I bought cabinets in 2009 from Acorn cabinets. I wish I never had. Within just a few months the finish started failing (anything close to water or steam such as the coffee maker), I contacted Acorn and initially they helped by taking cabinet doors and draw faces back to their shop and refinishing them. However the process to get them out there etc. was so difficult and time consuming (and they charged me) that I eventually just stopped asked and lived with failed cabinets. Even the boxes failed (again the finish). Recently I decided to see if I could have some new doors made. The same salesperson is still with the company and he gave me the name of a former employee that could help me restore what I had (refinish basically). In speaking with the former employee, he explained that at the time I bought the cabinets (2009-ish) they had inferior finish and were having to re-do all the cabinets from that time. Apparently they have a better finish now. The salesperson is still suppose to come by and look at what I have to see if I can have some door remade, but he keeps putting me off. I would not recommend Acorn for both their customer service, how they stand behind there products and the fact that they knew they had an inferior finish and did not take responsibility (charged me for refinishing). I wish I would never have chosen them to do my kitchen cabinets.

We selected this vendor, Acorn, as they had made the custom cabinets installed in our kitchen remodel in 2001. We were satisfied with those cabinets. We wanted doors for the lower cabinet portion of a bookcase/cabinet built into the wall of our family room. We wanted the doors to match those from Acorn from 2001. The person they sent, supposed to be the tech expert for measurement, specs etc could not later be reached by telephone, did not return phone calls, and finally did come out to measure. He did his thing and told us we would have an estimate within about 10 days. He never called us back, did not return calls. We finally contacted the office meaning we didn't ask for this guy, and we finally got the estimate from a clerk. We agreed to it, paid 1/2 and supposedly got into the production line. We never did get contacted about the finished product. We tried to call the estimator/tech, the guy assigned to us. He never did respond. The office clerk finally told us the doors were ready. We went into their office, the doors were brought out-they were not as we understood our order, they were not solid wood, the centers were MDF. We were told this would be better as we were painting them anyway. They were not what we expected, but they were doors. We were assured they would fit. They did not. They were to be hung so that each set of doors would meet in the middle with no space between them. That was what we were promised, we were told that is what we got. Not true. They were mismeasured. I urged my wife to go to call the owner, and I planned to go to court to get it right. She had our handyman install supports at the middle of each door set and hung the doors. She did not want to deal with these people ever again. I have to agree with her. The doors have been painted, they have been hung. The total out of pocket for us has been close to $1,000 for the doors, the paint, and the carpentry by our guy. We are unhappy with Acorn and will never use them again. We hope this little case will give any potential customer a pause in their decision making and urge them to use a different company

Acorn Cabinets provided new custom cabinets for our kitchen remodel. The kitchen was completely demolished and reconfigured. The house's layout and dimensions provided a challenge with regard to incorporation of our wishes for kitchen components and amenities. Acorn's designer/sales person, Phil, worked patiently with us on potential kitchen configurations and kitchen and ldquo;flowand rdquo;. His suggestion of cabinet types (drawers, shelves, spice racks, garbage/recycle, island configuration, appliance location) fit well into the space and accommodated our goals. We chose a white painted shaker style cabinet. The cabinets were manufactured at Acorn's Newcastle facility. The design and cabinet quality provided by Acorn has worked great. The price shown is for the cabinets delivered to the project site. We are pleased with the results and highly recommend Acorn Custom Cabinets.

Acorn and their sales representative, Ed Castor, were very helpful with the kitchen design. The cabinets arrived on time and perfect. I could not be more pleased with the quality of the cabinets and all the hardware. We'll worth the price. Any questions we had were quickly answered and any changes accommodated. I would highly recommend Acorn Cabinets.

They do really good work, and are probably the best I've ever seen.

Acorn called me a few weeks out to give me a timeline. Then called a week prior to reconfirm the date. Then called the day before to give me a time of delivery. They came on time and placed the pieces in my garage for me. The next day, my installer came and started putting up the cabinets. A minor glitch arose when it was determined that the wood cover for the stove vent system wasn't long enough. We contacted Ed and he came out in 2 hours time with new pieces. Even with only upper cabinets and bottom doors being installed, it took most of the day. My advise is to be on site for questions and any little glitches. It's much easier when you can be there...which I was. I will use them again when I have another project in mind. You do get what you pay for. The finish is just beautiful.

It went great. It took a little longer than I'd expected, but Acorn came in ahead of their schedule, and fit my small job in with their much larger jobs. I was very pleased with the quality of workmanship, fit and finish. And the price was quite reasonable.

Acorn was great to work with, I called up the show room and they sent someone out the next day. Brian came to measure and draw up my existing cabinets to build some custom pull outs and replace my wine rack with shelves for my cookbooks. In a week they were ready. The only problem was they neglected to tell me that I had to install them myself! I was nervous but when I went to go pick them up Glenn walked me through the whole process an the rails that had to be installed on my cabinets were already pre-drilled and came with all the screws so it made the work much easier. Now I have shelves that are so much easier to access! I would use them again and suggest them.

They did great work, exactly to my specifications, which were pretty unusual ( very narrow depth, tall cabinet I could never have bought ready made). Total time was about 3 weeks. They have a great showroom in Newcastle and are a friendly, professional bunch. I think they mostly do kitchen cabinetry, but as my project shows, they are willing to customize, and do it well.

They did a good job. I rate them high overall.

Staff were very helpful detailing styles, types of wood, finishes. Ddelivery was on date promised. I took delivery and installed. The vanity came with necessary trim, stained wood putty and extra stain. Sturdy - still looks great

They are local and they did a spectacular job. We had an issue when the guy came to put them in and they sent someone out immediately to change the lazy susan design. They also refit the corner door for us because it was fitting really tight; they took it, made a new door, and got us a new door within a couple of days. I’ve spoken to people that order their cabinets from big stores or from out of state and when they have an issue, they have to wait four or five weeks. I thought they were wonderful, everything fit perfectly, and I had no problems with them whatsoever. They don’t install so I had my own installer.

Made custom window seat. Measurements were off on one of three pieces and maple was not correct either. Sent the seat back because the type of maple was unusual and not pleasing to the eye and I stated I would not pay until balance until it was done correctly. They threatened with a lean unless I paid the balance. Company offered to redo the seat, but it was still wrong. For the supposed quality of work, the price was good, but not for the for the actual work. I am not pleased. The company did not call ahead of time until it was too late for me to make it home. They showed up when they wanted to, not when I was available.

A wonderful experience with the help of the salesman, Brian. Great, friendly showroom with lots of wood, door styles and stain choices. Brian came to our home and measured everything accurately and helped us choose within our budget. The cabinets were ready within a couple of weeks and carefully delivered. After we installed them, an expert cabinet tech came out to make a few minor adjustments to them. They look beautiful. They are very well-made and operate so smoothly that I love to show them off. We were so happy to have such high quality cabinets and still fall within budget.

WE HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH ACORN CABINET. WE NEEDED TO REPLACE 2 WATER DAMAGED CABINET DOORS THAT WERE CUSTOM BUILT FOR OUR HOUSE. WE ORIGINALY WENT TO HOME DEPOT TO ORDER THE CABINET DOORS, SINCE IT WAS JUST THE FRONT OF THE DOORS AND WE FIGURED IT WOULD BE EASY. BUT NO ONE AT HOME DEPOT COULD GUARANTEE AN EXACT MATCH AND SO WE WENT TO ACORN CABINET BASED ON A RECOMMENDATION FROM A NEIGHBOR. ACORN WAS ABLE TO GUARANTEE AN EXACT MATCH. WHEN THE 2 DOORS ARRIVED, THEY WERE PERFECT. WE WERE VERY HAPPY.

THE DESIGNER FROM ACORN CABINETS WAS POLITE AND VERY HELPFUL. THE COMPANY AS COURTEOUS AND GREAT WITH CUSTOMER FEEDBACK AS WELL AS KEEPING ME INFORMED OF THE PROGRESS.

KERRY VISUALIZED MY CONCEPTS OF THE KITCHEN REMODEL AND CREATED A PERFECT KITCHEN. THE MATERIALS AND CRAFTMANSHIP ARE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. THE TEAM WAS EFFICIENT AND TIMELY. THEY WERE ALSO VERY RESPONSIVE TO THE TWO MINOR DISCREPANCIES FOUND. THEY SENT A CARPENTER OUT THE NEXT DAY. THEY ALSO PROVIDED AN ADDITIONAL MOLDING PIECE AFTER A MISCUT ON MY PART.
