Save your time and money. Ship your warrantee repairs BACK to Lenovo.
Description of Work: This guy replaced the main board on my blue-screening Lenovo laptop (under warrantee). When the problem wasn't resolved, he diagnosed it as being "a software issue" and charged me $200 to re-install my operating system. When THAT didn't work, he said it needed another main board! No fix, and no refund of my $200. Save your time and money. Ship your warrantee repairs BACK to Lenovo.

Here at Sound Microsystems we value customer feedback and reviews, both good or bad, as it allows us to better serve our customers. However, we appreciate when all the relevant facts are presented. This customers tablet laptop was in brought back in mid August for a different issue that required a motherboard replacement under the Lenovo Warranty. It returned in mid October with complaints of errors coming up in Windows and occasional blue screens. We performed a complete hardware diagnostic and were not able to pinpoint any issues. The Windows 7 operating system on the machine was corrupted and had various problems. We recommended backing up the data and reloading the operating system to eliminate that as the source. The customer agreed to this and we did so, and the price for this service was quoted. During the reload and afterward we did not encounter any errors or problems while in the shop, and the customer picked up the unit. He called in and brought the unit back maybe a week later with similar issues. We said that there was a "possibility" that there could be something wrong with the motherboard that was not showing up in the tests we had performed. We offered to troubleshoot further and replace any needed parts under the Lenovo warranty, or diagnose any software issue under our 30 day labor warranty. He called back shortly after dropping it off and said to not work on it, as he was going to sent it off to Lenovo. He picked it up nearly a month later and demanded a refund for the software work that was done. We did offer to refund half the labor charge, but he refused and left. Had the customer given us the opportunity we would have gladly worked to resolve the issue.

Overall I am completely satisfied with the work performed (the fix) plus Aaron suggested ways to avoid corrupting the program in the future. Namely, he suggested using the Lenovo RNR program exclusively and to backup to an external drive exclusively. I had been using both the LENOVO RNR program and the Windows 7 Backup programs, as well as sometimes backing up on the local hard drive in lieu of the external hard drive (when on the road). So I appreciated not only the fix but the advice going forward as well.
Description of Work: Lenovo ThinkPad T510 Rescue and Recovery(RNR) program stopped working for me. It provided an Error 25014 Return Code 96 message upon launching the program, and then would return an "out of space" message when I attempted to either run a new backup or to delete an old one (to make space). Aaron performed diagnostics, found RNR to be corrupted, reinstalled it, and configured the program to performed scheduled backups on an external USB drive (only).
