Description of Work: Was looking to perform a remodel. He was helpful in helping us come up with next steps and got an architect involved. Was a honest and forthright with the work he would need to perform and presented options that might help with speed and/or expense. After dealing with a few other contractors his willingness to work with me in helping to get the project moving is how he went from B's to an overall A rating. (There's nothing to pad for value and honesty)

I consider this review to be fair as in hind sight there are things I would have done differently while Mr. Saari was under our employment. One of those being, my wife and I were not 100% certain of what we wanted done with our bathroom remodel. We needed to rely on his expertise so we could have a better understanding of what we wanted done. Some of the big decisions came down to the wire, and it put unnecessary stress on Mr. Saari because he wasn’t maximizing the fullest potential of his time. He had to wait on us to make some decisions, so for that I take full responsibility. We have a relatively small bathroom which we wanted remodeled. We wanted a new vanity and our shower expanded to a full walk in shower. The budget that I had in mind was 10K. Mr. Saari drafted a contract and I signed it. It didn’t take long to realize that 10K was severely underpriced. Things were adding up much faster than I had envisioned. We were well into 14K after the first month of construction. And this is essentially the beginning of the problems we had with Mr. Saari. Because he agreed to redo our bathroom for such a little cost, when we arrived over budget I believe he started regretting his decision because he was getting paid pennies for his work/time. I agreed to pay him another $2500 as a good gesture even though we were contractually not obligated to pay him anything over what we agreed in writing. It was important to my wife and I that we paid him what we could because we realized that he should be making more form this job. During the duration of our correspondence over social media (Mr. Saari is very responsive and keen on constant communication) he made some comments that made me question his dedication to our project, as well as the quality of his work/craftsmanship. He failed to paint a part of our vanity, to which any seasoned painter or homeowner would want painted. The picture I attached, you can see our vanity and the rings that didn’t get painted. You can also read his comment to me in the screenshot of our conversation. Essentially he started taking shortcuts because he didn’t want to spend more time at my house than he needed to. It was at that point that we decided to do the rest of the project DIY style and part ways with Mr. Saari. Mr. Saari came highly recommended to us in our local community. I’m sure others have had great experiences with him. I attribute our failed working relationship to our indecisiveness and his failure to price us accurately for his time/work. But as a professional it should be in his very best interest to keep his level of professionalism and quality high at all times regardless if you’re miserable for taking our job. Sometimes you just have to learn from your mistakes and bite the bullet. Pros: - SUPER responsive (can’t stress that enough) - Willing you let you use his tools and give feedback. (He allowed me to demolition my whole bathroom using his tools to save me money) - Knowledgeable about his work. Cons: - Can come across condescending (See screenshots) - Short temper/easy to anger - Craftsmanship is inconsistent. The tile that he set in our bathroom is all over the place in terms of depth and elevation.

[Member Name Removed], I never checked Angie's list . Yes. Your bathroom went severely over budget. I attribute that soley to me not seaparating labor and materials. Being new to the remodeling and bidding industry in this state, i didnt realize how fast, a fancy taste would blow that budget. 12 by 24 tiles, wedi systems, a 1200 dollar cabrian counter top. Things got way out of hand with material cost, scheduling, choices etc. And i cannot see what screen shots you shared for some reason. But, yes, i began yo get firm with you, or unprofessional if that is how it came across. For that, i apologize. Yes, i walked away from the job, due to no available funds to continue the job. The timeline was far exceeded, and i do not take responsibility for the timeline error. That was soley you. Second, when entering a budget minded remodel, shopping for the most expensive trim level possible was not a great idea . I have not submitted a bid to date, due to this learning experience with your project. Thank you for what time we did have together as client and customer. And the archery we participated in outside of work. Best regards, [Member Name Removed]

Jon from Saari Industries has been professional, well-priced, and has excellent craftsmanship. He?s been assisting me with home remodel needs and repairs, and has been friendly and respectful. I also really appreciate that he takes the time to explain the process and materials, and his estimates have been fair and accurate. I plan to continue using him as a go-to handyman / remodel contractor for both small and large projects in future. Thanks!
