Our skylights have needed replacing since we bought our house 7 years ago. Of course, we let things get to a crisis point before attending to the leaks. I had, in the past, tried to contact window replacement companies to do the work, but interestingly, window replacement folks don't seem to like to deal with skylights. Turns out that's because they're on your ROOF - we needed roof repair people, not window people. In searching Angie's list we looked at Redmond Roofing, liked that they were local and close and already had good reviews. We were not disappointed! Response to our request for a bid was quick, and the bid was less than what we had been expecting from a window company. Two of the three skylights were replaced the day after we called, and even though the third one needed to be ordered for a special fit, that window too was done within three days of our first call. Now we have nice tight skylights and the peace of mind that comes with a good repair job. Only wish we'd done it sooner! Thanks, Redmond Roofing!

I had had another company come out and "repair" a couple of leaks in my roof. These repairs were unsuccessful so I called Redmond Roofing. The person who called me back was very prompt and professional. After he had asked me for detailed information on my problem he explained what he thought the problem was and told me how it could be corrected. As I work in construction and am very comfortable working on roofs I inspected the roof and found the problem just as he described it. I quickly fixed the leaks and could not be happier. How refreshing that a company would take the time to explain my problem and tell me how I could correct it myself. I would have been happy to have them come out and do the work but he was spot on and I easily repaired it myself. In the next year I will be needing a new roof and I have no doubt I will be calling Redmond Roofing to do the job. What a quality company.

Based on "free evaluations" from other roofing companies plus a recurring leak, I was certain I needed a new roof and seriously began a search for a contractor. I was unsatisfied with the first round of bids and almost ended up with an incredibly overpriced roof from a local roofing company (that I shall not name here). So I joined Angie's List and went into a second round of bids armed with new knowledge. In this second round, two of the contractors highly rated by Angie's List both strongly insisted that my roof was actually in very good shape and just needed a few minor repairs and it would be good for several more years. I had used Redmond Roofing several years before for an emergency repair in the middle of a rainstorm. That plus the very reasonable rate quoted for the repairs led me to choose Redmond Roofing. The crew came out on a Sunday and quickly made the repairs and cleaned up very well (except for one safety line that they missed and needed to pick up later). I highly value Redmond Roofings honesty and long term focus on customer needs. Rather than push me towards a $25-30K roof (one contractor quoted over $50K !!!), Redmond Roofing instead pushed me toward a few modest repairs. Instead of going for the quick buck, they were instead focused on building a long-term relationship. They are definitely going to be at the top of the list when we finally are ready for a new roof!

They were out the very next day. They informed us of the problem and fixed the flashing. I was pleased by their immediate response and we haven’t had a drip since. Redmond Roofing worked our job in with other jobs in July. They inspected and gave an estimate within 3 days of our contact with them. Job was completed over 3 days (2 short and one long) to our complete satisfaction. When it's time to re-roof we will definitely contact them for an estimate on that job.

Met with salesman who was very informative and pleasant to speak with. He answered all of our questions including the pros and cons of using shake versus a high-end architectural asphalt shingle. I was concerned about having adequate ventilation beneath the decking if we chose asphalt which would require installation of plywood decking. The salesman suggested alternatives for insuring adequate ventilation. The salesman said he would provide both a shake bid and an asphalt bid in a few days. Later that day, I received an e-mail with a shake bid (no asphalt bid) from the owner of Redmond Roofing, Bob Hernacki. He said he had discussed with the salesman the ventilation "challenges" we had if we went with asphalt. For that reason only, the owner recommended we go with shake. Since we needed an asphalt option and did not get one from Redmond Roofing, we eliminated them as a potential bidder. This is also the reason for a "C" grade in responsiveness. Ultimately, we contracted with another roofing company for an architectural grade asphalt roof. Note: We received 3 bids for a shake roof. Two were almost identical and the 3rd was about 15% higher. Redmond Roofing's bid was one of the 2 lower bids.

Response from Redmond Roofing
Roofing is not rocket science but sometimes it seems like a close 2nd when trying to predict what might happen if we offer a customer what they want. Our decision to only offer a shake re-roof was not arbitrary. Since 1987 I have gained a lot of knowledge from experience.. I believe we were serving [member name removed] best interests by limiting our offering to Cedar Shakes - because of the venting concerns. (shakes breath) If we go against our better judgment and install a product that is inappropriate for a given set of circumstances (not always a black & white situation)- we would have some culpability for its failure since we are the "professionals" who are expected to know better. I would say that 95% of the projects we do are composition. We are thoroughly familiar with the many venting elements that are available and often necessary to add. BUT there can be structural conditions and obstructions that trump every one of these venting elements. . I hope the reader of this rating does not think we were trying to steer our prospect to a more profitable product. We were not.

The skylight job was estimated quickly, parts arrived within a week, and the job was done with no fuss or mess in about 3 hours. The gutters were cleaned at the same time and a chimney checked and will need some caulking which will be done next week. I won't have to be around for the caulking, as the crew know their way around at our place and are entirely trustworthy.

The work took about 1 week from start to finish. The crew showed up promptly at the promised time start time on Tuesday, and then they showed up promptly every day at 8:30am to continue the work, and worked until 5pm each day, including Saturday. All trash was contained in the dumpster, and the perimeter of the house was magnetically swept for nails, and gutters were cleaned of debris. The roof looks absolutely terrific, and best of all, when the weather really dumped on us just a couple days later, there wasn't a single leak! The crew from Redmond Roofing really knew what they were doing. We received a follow up call from the owner, once the job was complete. A very good service experience!

We called Redmond Roofing and we were able to be squeezed in for an appt with in just a couple of days. We thought we had a leak in our solar tube, but it turns out that is was condensation. When I phoned to arrange for an estimate, they were friendly. They came out within a few days, got us an estimate (by email) the same day. A week later they were here doing the work - and realized that they needed to charge more as the air vents had to be replaced (the builder of these townhomes did not always use best practices in quality materials). They were quick to informed us; quick and courteous at their work.

The overhead light fan combination in our bathroom suddenly started dripping water a couple of days before Christmas during a heavy rain shower. We called Redmond Roofing and within a couple of hours, 2 workers arrived, took a pictture of the problem to show us what was wrong and taped a tarp over the offending fixture on the roof. The plastic flashing around the vent on the fan was cracked from where the original nails had been driven in and the crack had spread to the point of leaking severely. The following Thursday they reurned, replaced the vent and sealed the new flashing no fuss no mess. We were very peased with the prompt attention in spite of the holiday season. They were a bit more expensive than I was hoping to pay but their promptness made it worth the exra price.

The price was competitive. The roof looks good, including flashing, vents, etc. No maintenance problems so far. I would use them again. Somehow they cracked the ceiling in 2 places, but they arranged to have it repaired promptly, and the repairman they provided did a good job, so it was not a big issue. One unexpected "surprise": I have vaulted ceilings, and once they got the old roof off, they let me know that they would have to install baffles (at an additional charge of $600) since there would otherwise not be enough airflow between the roof and insulation. I assume this is a common enough problem that the estimator could have pointed out the possibility to my wife and me before we signed the contract. Please note: the price and date of service may not be accurate - I'm going by memory.

Overall, we were pleased and recommend Redmond Roofing.
Description of Work: We live in a 20 year old rambler that needed a new roof. Given the style of our home, composition just didn't do the trick. Would've loved to go with a heavy tile or synthetic shake, but way too expensive. So, we replaced our cedar with cedar. This time, we put on a "heavy" shake (3/4') instead of the standard medium (1/2"). RR was great throughout the bidding process, answering my questions ad nauseum. Their crew were well-mannered, on time, cleaned up the area nightly, and left me with a great new roof. There were a couple of things that needed addressing during the process (nothing goes perfectly on a project of this size) and Bob was very responsive.

After being told by several Roofers that our Cedar Roof would probably not make it through another Winter without problems, we decided that we had better get a new one. We interviewed Bob Hermacki the owner of Redmond Roofing and 3 other companies. Bob came across as extremely knowledgeable and did not pressure us in any way, He told us that cedar roofs were not suitable in our area and a better choice was shakes which were a fair bit cheaper. He showed us several different choices and suggested we went to Stoneway and look at them first hand. His price was competitive. The other Roofing Companies said they could not install for 3 to 4 weeks and we were very worried that the ceiling could be affected if it rained and that would be another problem. Even though Bob had all his crews working on a large job he said he would pull one of them and start right away. The whole process from quote to job completion went extremely well with no surprises. I can not imagine a harder working crew. They were very professional and did a great job all around and cleaned up after each day.

We chose to have them reseam the whole roof, and they came during the next dry day, and finished the work in a few hours. We've had no leaks since, and are very happy with their work. We also did the whole transaction by phone - I've not met anyone from the company in person; they sent a bill when the work was done (right on the estimate), and the whole process went very smoothly. NOTE: The 'B' for responsiveness was because the weather for over a week did not allow Redmond Roofing to get to us for over a week - not their fault, but it was a longer process than we'd hoped; but the work was done exactly right and exactly on estimate.
Description of Work: Redmond Roofing was asked to examine the roof of our mobile home after it started leaking during the recent storms we had here in Redmond; their estimator came on schedule, and gave us two estimates - one to fix just the specific problem, and one to reseam the whole roof.

We initially called Redmond Roofing because we had water coming through one of our skylights. We've had problems with the vents in our roof leaking in the past and thought that this leak was due to water coming through one of the vents and flowing straight down the roof slope and into the skylight. Although we left a voicemail on a Saturday, Bob (the owner) called us back within minutes. He came out that day to take a look at the issue. Within half an hour, he'd put a diverter above the questionable vent and sealed the top edge of the skylight. While he was up there, he also repaired some loose shingles that hadn't been visible from the ground and took roof measurements for any future needs (our 20-year roof is 13 years old right now). The cost was $200 but he did say that he couldn't be sure he'd addressed the leak completely because there was no clear evidence where the leak was occurring. He told us if we had any issues, he'd come out again at no charge. Unfortunately, within a couple of days, we had some rain and the leak was still there. I called Bob again and he came out before the end of the day. Although the specific issue was still not clear, he installed a larger diverter above the vent and removed the top of the skylight to check for failure on the top edge of the seal (there wasn't any). As promised, there was no charge for the visit. Before the next weekend, we had another rainstorm. Again, the skylight leaked. The next morning, we called Bob and he said that, although he couldn't come out immediately, he would have one of his crew out no later than the following Tuesday (3 business days) but if we wanted emergency tarping, he could do it for $75. Since rain was in the forecast, we decided to tarp it ourselves and wait for Bob's crew. His tech was out as promised on Tuesday. He removed all the shingles from the vent to the skylight, found the leak (the vent was improperly installed), re-installed the vent, replaced the shingles and checked the skylight again. On the lower side of the skylight, he found an unrelated issue--the seal was failing which he believed could lead to a leak soon. He recommended replacing the skylight, which we thought was a good idea at his quoted price ($225). He came back the next day with the new skylight and had it installed in about 20 minutes. We've had a lot of rain since with no leaks at all. Roof work - $400 + Tax New Skylight - $225 + Tax Total Cost, including original visit - About $850 This was more money than we'd wanted to spend but we feel we got great service, great attentiveness, quality products and, most importantly, a dry floor and walls under that skylight. Thanks, Bob to you and your crew at Redmond Roofing! We'll definitely be calling you for our future roofing needs!
Description of Work: During several visits to our home, Redmond Roofing: Inspected the roof (externally and internally) for the source of the leak Installed diverters around roof vents Repaired loose shingles (unrelated to the reason for the call) Sealed holes in the the skylight flashing as well as the skylight edges Checked for failed internal skylight seals Replaced a skylight Re-installed an improperly installed roof vent Measured our roof for their files (for any future roof needs)

This is a FANTASTIC roofing company. Communication: Having a new roof installed can be extremely stressful. I had so many questions & Bob (the owner) , Dale (the sales manager), and Juan (the onsite crew leader) made sure that I understood every single step of the installation. There was never a moment that I could not reach Redmond Roofing. Proactive planning: I have ridge venting on the second story. However, I wondered what to do about the venting for a small section of the 1st story roof. Dale suggested roof to wall venting for the 1st story roof . Redmond Roofing is the only company that made this valuable suggestion. Shingle color: Dale gave me sample of all the Presidential TL colors. He said take your time & look at the color next to your house in the daylight. I picked Autumn Blend & it looks gorgeous. Emphasis on safety: We had snow & ice during the installation. Bob (the owner) made sure that his guys were safe & did not force them to work on the roof. Price: in the middle. With a roof you simply need to hire the best quality. Quality: Overally very trust worthy, hardworking, reliable, & they stand by their word.

Very well. Their bid was average-high and I felt like they were very honest in providing our options as to wheter or not to replace our gutters. We decided not to replace the gutters. All options were clarified and included in the estimate. Work was performed on time and cleanup was done well. I noticed an area that needed touchup paint and they had someone to my house within hours of my call.
