LeafFilter North Inc

Like anyone who is reading this I was solicitng bids for new gutters, downspouts and leaf/debris systems. I read up about them on line and then went to Consumer Reports and visited the web site for their highest rated professionally installed system looking for a local contractor. I then went to Angie's List to see how they rated. LeafFileter of Alabama no longer exists so there was no rating. Leaf Filter North of Georgia, Inc. responded to my web inquiry and set up an appointment. The salesman showed up a bit early but early is better than late. I told him right off the bat that I had been sales management for large organizations my entire life and that I had already contacted other contractors about the project. He measured the gutters required and then gave me his pitch which included his telling me he was a disabled Vet no fewer than six times. He then told me how his system was number one with Angie's List, Consumer reports and the BBB. Then he quoted me $12,700.00 and proceeded to give me a series of bogus discounts. Are you a vet?, no, was anyone in your family a vet? yes, here's a discount. Where does your wife work? Here's a discount etc. When all was said and done He was still over $3,000.00 higher than the next most expensive bid. That's when he asked me to let him call his manager. I told him don't bother call me back tomorrow with a list of questions you want me to ask the other contractors. When I have answers you can tell me why you are better and give me a realistic quote. He called back the next day and told me he had spoken to his supervisor and that if I wanted the orther system I should drive a truck to Atlanta and take all of that system I wanted from this dumpster for free.. That the competition was a cheap imitation of their product and he replaced it all the time. Needless to say I didn't buy the used car. I just wanted you to know what to expect if you call them.

I thought about doing business with them after seeing them in the home show here so I got an estimate. They have a good product but the people got really testy when I decided I did not want to do business with them. I did not like it. I was trying to tell their guy the reason I was not going to work with them was not because of their product; it was because I could get my gutters cleaned for about 15 years and the payback was just too long for it. It was a high pressure sales when they came over to my house. He got a little testy on the phone when I told him why I did not want to do business. I did not like it and thought it was unnecessary. They were very professional in their presentation but were unprofessional in their pushiness. It was like being cornered up against a wall with a really obnoxious used car salesman. They knew what they were doing and had a good sales spew. They had all sorts of samples and reasons why their product was the best.
